Yes yes yes yes yes! My absolute #1 favourite band of all time right here. The album this is from, Kezia, blew my 15 year old mind when it released, and now I'm sitting here at 30 years old and I've loved every single song they've released since, with Volition probably being my favourite album. I wish more people reacted to them!

I need to see someone react to "Mist" it's not the craziest or most technical song on the album, but god damn that song gets me every time it comes on.

Volition is also my favourite of their albums. I absolutely love this band, but songs like Skies, Plato's Tripartite and Mist are so tough to beat whenever I want anything PTH.

Dude…… I am a kindred spirit. My whole friend group is as obsessed with kezia. Everyone else hated protest like in our “scene” but we would drive around and sing this album like we were performing the whole story. My buddy Derek would like act like he was fencing when the lyric “ when he pulled out that daggghhere” in a song I forget the name of. Ah memories.

The band is amazing. They are the ones who got me into prog. So many good songs. Bloodmeat, Sequoia throne, the dissentience, the divine suicide of k., turn soonest to the sea... man they are good. And that's just from kezia and fortress.

I remember being 15 years old and taking guitar classes from a genuine progressive metal virtuoso (which I was far too young to recognise and appreciate) I'm 30 years old now, and to date, I don't think there is a prog metal band out there that I like as much as PtH. Good god, well over a decade after release and this stuff dwarfs everything else, still. The vocals, the drums, the bass, guitar riffs, it's all mind bogglingly good.

I saw these guys at Warped Tour in 2006 in San Diego. They played on one of the smaller stages. I literally saw them with a crowd of less than 20 people. At one point, the lead singer was swinging the mic around and accidentally hit himself in the balls, said "ow my balls!", then kept singing

Protest The Hero is one of those bands that not many people have heard of that so many bands from the modern era were clearly at least partly influenced by. They helped revolutionise post-hardcore/progressive metal in the mid-00s. Protest The Hero helped teach me guitar. I genuinely think it is a shame that PTH does not get the recognition they deserve. Honestly, Heretics & Killers is not even the best song on this album: Turn Soonest To The Sea is my favourite from the Kezia album, but they followed Kezia up with many more great albums over the last 16 years, with Volition being my personal favourite.

They were like 16 when they wrote this too. You should see them live! Amazing show every time. The 10 year anniversary show for this cd sounded exactly like it did in 2007. You have to listen to the cd fortress front to back. No skipping or shuffle!

These guys are incredible man, one of the best progressive metal bands of the last 15 years and perhaps one of the most underrated. They're masters at writing complex, beautiful and dynamic songs. Every album is solid gold, they literally don't have a bad song. With how you were praising and comparing them to Jinjer, I implore you to check them out. I believe you'd looooove them.

Robert had full intention of showing you this band 😂. You sound like you are about to go down the rabbit hole. I reallly reccomend going through their discography. Each of their albums are noticeably different and great in their own way. The talent these guys have are fucking outrageous. Some of my top favorites are Bloodmeat, sequoia throne, C’est la Vie, Clarity, Skies (possibly my number 1 here but hard to say), from the sky, all hands, soliloquy. I want to keep going but if I did I’d start naming all of their songs lol. Their latest album really fucked me up in the best way possible

Do any more of Protests The Hero. They literally write songs they cannot play for every album and then force themselves to learn to fully play the songs for when they eventually do the album tour. You can literally hear their talent improve in every album. Also Archspire song called Involuntary Doppelganger

Protest the Hero can still play their butts off. Rightful heirs apparent to their country people and forebears, Propagandhi. What I especially appreciate about their videos is that they really embrace fun and engaging concepts. Keiza as a record is so narrative-driven, the contrast with the Wizard of Oz elements makes everything in the lyrics feel vibrant. It made me think a lot about the song and video’s subject matter. Whoever came up with the transition from black and white to technicolor was inspired. “What the hell” Wednesday, indeed.

They're still dropping bad ass music to this day. Their newest album can be a bit challenging for newer listeners just cause Rody has had to adjust his vocal style due to some injury. But the album before that has "clarity" and "mist" which are some of my favorite songs ever of theirs

I’ve been going to PTH shows in my area since this album came out. They’ve toured with the likes of Misery Signals, Fall Of Troy, Chiodos, and so many others. They were very unique at the time. Rody is one of the funniest vocalists live, just because he gives zero fucks and just has a good time (while drunk).

OldSkuleNerd I have question for you, and has nothing to do with this reaction. While you are catching up with the new metal, and well, whatever, there is one band of the big 4 from England in the early 70's that gets shafted to this day. Those four bands are Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Uriah Heep. I know you have heard of three of them, and then some... But the fourth is something else special and different. I have been a fan of Uriah Heep since the 70's and you should be too, if you're not already. That, and the young crowd needs to hear them. I'm not going to say this song or that, if you don't know them already, youtube will tell you the ones to watch off the bat. In other words, if you don't know them, give them their due to at least check them out, even though they started in the 70's.
