Yep - Freddie was like: "ima dress sexy & tight black clothes".. and Brian was.. "okay, I like my bell-bottomed jeans and Victorian-style tops".. Roger was "okay, I'm cool... I might just do a striped t-shirt...".. and John Deacon was "I think I'll just rock this pastel sweater vest that my grandma made..." One more thing to love about these guys.. everyone had their own style, in addition to the musical talent...

Yup. An old pre-decimal sixpenny piece... and he still uses one. “I used to play with those little plastic picks but I always found that they were too bendy,” May says. “I couldn’t really feel what was happening as the thing touched the strings. I went into harder and harder picks, until they were too stiff. Then one day I picked up a coin, which happened to be a sixpence, and I thought, ‘That’s all I need’.”

It's time for a small history lesson with Freddie and the boys 😅: "I'm a racing car, passing by like LADY GODIVA 😮 I'm gonna go, go, go, there's no stopping me ..." Lady Godiva was a medieval (11th century) Anglo-Saxon noblewoman mostly remembered by a legend in which she rode her horse naked (covered just with her long hair) through the streets of Coventry. Her husband imposed harsh taxes on his tennants and she begged him not to. He promised her that he will not inforce that if she will ride naked throug town. She did and tenants witnessing that kneeled beside her path and out of respect not raising their eyes and avoiding looking at her.

Yes, Brian always uses a British sixpence as his pic. The sixpence hasn't been circulated since 1980 but Brian's roadie has been able to find bags of them for sell at antique stores so Brian has a healthy supply. "I used to use very bendy picks because I thought it was good for getting speed," Brian said. "But I gradually discovered that I wanted more and more hardness in the pick, and the more rigid it is, the more you feel what's happening at the string in your fingers." "So in the end, I picked up a coin, and it was just perfect. That's all I needed. And I changed the way that I held the pick, sort of bending one of the fingers around, and I never went back from that point. It has this lovely serrated edge, and if you turn it at an angle to the strings, you get a lovely kind of splatter" The sixpence didn't just change Brian's technique, the old British coin has another intrinsic quality for guitar playing. "The sixpence has another great advantage - it's hard enough to give you all that contact and it's also soft enough not to break the steel strings because it's made of nickel silver or whatever. And it has this lovely serrated edge, and if you turn it at an angle to the strings, you get a lovely kind of splatter. So to me, the guitar is like a voice, and that splutter is one of the consonants that helps to make the guitar talk."

@@Suprahampton Not exactly true. Over the years, Brian May has had special edition sixpences produced. In 1993, Brian ordered sixpence-sized “coins” minted for sale to concertgoers. Better described as medals, the 36-millimeter pieces depict May’s name, bust, and “BACK TO THE LIGHT” on one side with the phrase “FIRST PICK,” the word “OFFICIAL,” May’s initials “BM” and the year-date on the other side. In 2020, there was a Brian May edition sixpence, but it’s currently sold out on the Queen website. Other editions include commemorative coins from the 2005 Queen/Paul Rodgers tour and a gold sixpence celebrating the 50th anniversary of his iconic Red Special guitar. In 2023, Brian released two new collectibles from the Brian May collector's sixpences to tie in with the release of the Star Fleet Album.

Hello my friends! Cool this video which reminds me of my first loves from my youth, did you know that it is a song which was elected as the most (difficult to express it in English) which gives you the most sin, of courage of cheerfulness, to wake up well, to start a good day before going to work! Brian May often plays with a One pence coin with his Red Special guitar, which gives him a unique sound from this guitar which he built himself with his father, as well as the part of the microphones and the wood coming from his fireplace , the vibrato was taken from his grandmother's knitting needle too, hence his experience as an astrophysicist, very gifted and intelligent like the other 3 members of the group of course. I watch your channel very often with other groups which I appreciate or not, laughs! This is what makes us, Queen fans, our strength, so all styles of music combined from AC/Dc to Massive Attack. I'm waiting for my suggestion to pass because as I told you before, this one is really worth watching, it's really full of surprises, you'll even wonder if it's really Queen! so I'm still waiting for this suggestion, I'm impatient and above all I dedicate it for you sir who is a fan of AC/DC yes really

This song is probably one of the top 10 all-time feel-good songs, and I would certainly vouch for that. You don't get a lot of Brian's guitaring in this song, but it is certainly worth waiting for, The live concerts tend to feature a lot more of the guitar, which you have probably noticed with Queen. Brian May used an old English sixpence coin, which was out of production in the early 1970s, as a pick. He has them specially produced just for him. He said that the plastic picks were too bendy, and he couldn't feel what was happening when they touched the strings. He will also use his fingers when needed. He said, 'Sixpences are very soft metal, which doesn’t hurt the guitar strings, but if I turn that serrated edge at an angle to the string, I can get that kind of articulating percussive consonant sound - I call it graunch. Before about 1950, they had a high content of nickel, which makes them really soft, so I especially like a 1947 sixpence - the year that I was born'.

This is fun song by QUEEN. This song was appropriate when Freddie Mercury was honored by IAU (International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center) led by Brian May for their discovery of Asteroid in 1991, the same year Freddie Died. On Sept 2016, at the age of 70 yrs. old. The Asteroid they discovered was rename to Freddie as "ASTEROID 17473 FREDDIE MERCURY", as Brian May said during the announcement - " This is also to recognize Freddie's outstanding influence in the world". The certificate of designation was given by Joel Parker of Southwest Research Institute. Freddie Mercury is indeed Mr. Fahrenheit and nothing could stop him from creating great music. Unparalleled talent and character loved not only by his family members in the band but also by the whole world. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Coach for the good reaction. I also enjoy watching the rest of your content. I also know some new ones from other bands, but of course QUEEN and Freddie Mercury will always be my number one 1. Stay safe always!🙂❤

Hi folks! I'm sure you have heard this-it's been turning up in commercials for the last few years. You'll hear it all summer, serenading some young people-centric silliness, but it's nice to hear Freddie in any capacity. Yes, that is a coin the Doc is using-he used to play exclusively with a 10p coin; serrated edges and all that. I tried it when I was a young guitar player. Got the 10p coin and everything. Trust me. That's not for anyone but the Doc. Nothing really for me to add here, except, welcome to the Jazz album. It only gets weirder from here. Love you guys!

Mr. Fahrenheit is traveling with the speed of light 😅 and he is enjoying the journey... I just love this song because they are all having a good time. Even Brian playing his amazing 🎸 solo at its beginning Freddie says: "Sing it Brian!" and Brians smile is ❤. Thanks to his band mate and friend astrophysics/Nasa consultant Dr Brian May Freddie beside having a planet named after him 😅 now has his own asteroid. The asteroid was discovered in 1991 (the year of Freddie's transition to another dimension) and at Freddie's heavenly 70th birthday it was named Asteroid 17473freddiemercury 💫🥰 You can watch Brian's emotional announcement and see the Freddie's asteroid telescope footage. "It's a dot of light, but an important dot of light" says Brian ❤💫🎵❤️ kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pZimopmHt5uVlXU.htmlsi=xYzNVLvhqPYzzWga

Surprised you haven't heard this one coach but just read that it only reached number 86 in the us billboard charts in 1979 so that probably why, a very popular song over here in the UK despite only reaching number 9 in our charts, still plenty more songs to work your way through ut you are doing a great job of it and always look forward to your reactions and not just the queen ones , have a look at another song called breakthru by queen , catchy little number with a good video, no live alternative unfortunately, it's not a ballad, I promise 😂

LOL...that's a plus but we do throw in a few ballads to keep Mrs. Coach happy sometimes. Yeah, in 1979 I was 11 and not heavily into the rock scene for a few more years. We truly appreciate you!

what I always wonder is why don't reactions talk about that he's STANDING at the piano. Good of you for mentioning not LOOKING at the keys now just think of the additional oddness to position from his perspective. He uses a hyper extended wrist in sitting position just image how hard that would be from a STANDING position. 😊

Hi Mr and Mrs Coach, I put a list together of Queen songs for reactors like yourself who are going down the Queen rabbit hole You have already reacted to some, but I wasn’t going to go through and delete them 😊 When you come across a video that just has clips from other videos or concerts, that is because Freddie was getting more and more ill and wasn’t able to do performances for their video they got into the late 80’s and early 90’s. The days of our lives was his last video and he looks skinny and could barely stand up. Queen songs - Somebody To Love - Live 1981 Montreal and Official video - Bohemian Rhapsody Official video and live at Wembley - Under Pressure - live at Wembley - Save Me - live Montreal 1981 - Now I’m Here - live at Wembley - You take My Breath Away - live at Hyde Park - Stone Cold Crazy - live at the Rainbow) - In The Lap of the Gods live at the Rainbow - Fat Bottom Girls live at Milton Keynes - Liar - You’re My Best Friend (Official Video) - Cool Cat - One Vision live at Wembley - One Vision 20 minute documentary showing the band in the studio recording the song - We Are The Champions Live - We Will Rock You live - Play The Game live at Montreal 1981 - Doin’ Alright - live Earls Court 1977 - Who wants to live forever - live at Wembley and Official video (with choir) - Don’t Stop me Now Official video - I Want it All Official video - A Kind Of Magic live at Wembley - Live Aid Charity concert 1985 - Love of My Life live at Wembley or Rock in Rio with 350,000 + Brazilians singing the song to Freddie (each version is different but so good) - Spread Your Wings Official video - Seven Seas of Rhye - The Show Must Go On - Seaside Rendezvous (30th anniversary video) - Good Old Fashioned lover boy - Killer Queen - Headlong (Official video) - Innuendo - White Queen live 1974 Hammersmith - I’m In Love With My Car live - The Days Of Our Lives - Thank God it’s Christmas (Official video) - Keep Yourself Alive - live at the Rainbow - It’s Late (Official video) - The Miracle (Official Video) - Princes of the Universe - I’m Going Slightly Mad - One year of love - No One But You (Brian wrote this as a tribute after Freddie passed. He and Roger are on vocals. People always talk about Freddie’s voice, but they can also sing really well.)

If you wanted to go deep down the rabbit hole, why not react to some of these relatively unknown songs that show a completely different side of Queen. "39" sung by Brian “Action This Day” “Bring Back That Leroy Brown” “Doing All Right” “Don’t Try Suicide” “Headlong” “Jealousy” "Jesus" “Las Palabras de Amor (The Words of Love)” “Let Me Entertain You” “My Fairy King” I particularly recommend “Princes of the Universe”. “Ride the Wild Wind” “Spread Your Wings” special suffering from John “The Invisible Man” “White Queen (As It Began)” about the decline of the Native Americans “Is This the World We Created...?” A song about how we treat the earth “Mustapha” “Seaside Rendezvous” has a 1920s vibe “Teo Torriatte (Let Us Cling Together)” This song was made for their Japanese fans and was played at the opening of the Olympic Games in Tokyo

Coach, A couple of songs with AMAZING guitar playing: “PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE” official MV “PUT OUT THE FIRE” official MV These first two have my FAV guitar solos.😄 AND… “GET DOWN, MAKE LOVE” LIVE at 1981 MONTREAL …This shows the INSANE “special effects” Brian is able to produce w his guitar! (This last song has very R RATED lyrics, tho… Maybe Mrs. Coach will want to skip it, or cover her ears during the raciest part!😳)

The history of this song was based on real-life events transpiring in the band. Freddie had fully embraced the "gay lifestyle" and was partying hard while using alcohol and drugs and it began worrying the members of the band. Freddie was still doing his job but he was high a lot and the band could see he was often frazzled the wild partying. So they all decided to confront him and try to convince him to slow down. The discussion did not go well. Freddie told them to butt out of his life because he could handle it and not to worry. He was having too good and he was happy. Next thing they knew, Freddie came up with this song which all the band agreed was good. Nevertheless, Brian had reservations about recording it because he felt it was supporting what Brian felt were poor choices that Freddie was making. (Brian is the only member of Queen who never smoked or used drugs though he did drink.)
