Many many, many years ago I got on my friends Yamaha RD 400 race bike, (not street legal) and took it around the block. I've been riding 2 stroke dirt bikes my whole life but this 2 stroke RD 400 was a different animal entirely. In first gear the powerband opened up, the front wheel came up so I shifted to 2nd and rolled of the throttle to bring it back down. It was gnarly! I'll never forget it and I never took up street bikes, too many of my friends had really bad accidents and that didn't appeal to me.

That's impressive. I started on a liter bike, not even having prior experience from a moped, now have 7-8 years on them and it has not ever been near happening. You should certainly not be biking at all or have at least half the handle as dead zone if you are that clumsy, lol. Seems like another widespread youtube myth, like you just epileptically twist the throttle for no reason. In real life, this doesn't happen.

And your sense of self-preservation would be non-existent. Keep in mind, it takes only one tiny mistake or unexpected factor (oil on the road, whatever) and you'd be history. It doesn't matter how skilled you are as a rider eventually, if you keep on pushing it you're done.

That's how it should be. No speed limits on the motorways. If you don't want to go fast keep left. Even with no speed limits. It's likely many people wouldn't travel beyond 140km/hr due to increased fuel consumption anyway. It would make people better and alert drivers, and reduce fatigue between major city trips. Glad you enjoyed what you did. (The kangaroo comment, people would learn when they're out and active, and slow down during these times).

Their demonstrated extra skills could be rewarded with permission to travel 50 km/hr, 80 km/hr, or whatever speed above posted limits, or maybe 50% above. OR, they could even be exempt from speeding tickets. How would that be? Of course, they must never have a crash, or their special privileges would be revoked for one month, one year, or forever, depending on the circumstances of the crash.

I’ve done so many delivery jobs and it’s reached a point where I just know when a car is going to switch lanes or when a car is going to try and cut in front or do anything really. We must be subconsciously aware of something they’re doing but I couldn’t tell you what, it’s just an intuitive “that cars gonna cut into my lane without indicating” Definitely don’t think I could do it at these speeds though!

Definitely something to what you say. I’ve had plenty of bad driving days in both cars and on my bike and just know I’m not with it. But when you get that odd day when your mind is alert and clear and the conditions are just right and you just nail it, it all just comes together and everything just seems to flow and your thought processes are instant and you just “know”. The special thing about this guy is that he seems to be in the moment all of the time and can just keep doing it for as long he has petrol in his tank.

It's true that you can see the body language of a car sometimes but I wouldn't stake my life on it each and every time. Guess that's the difference between the GhostRiders of this world and the other 99+%...

It’s much easier (and can be safer) to go fast on a bike. One time I was rolling at about 160 km/hr (100 mph) on my Yamaha FZ1000 (yes, engine transplant), when two young guys came by in small but fast J-cars, Honda Civics or the like. They were trying to maintain 200 km/hr (125 mph), but the traffic was a bit heavy and moving at 120-130 km/hr (75-80 mph). Just for fun, I decided to keep up with them, and it was easy, passing politely, while those two guys were cutting in and out of the cars and trucks (this was Hwy 401 east of Toronto, meaning 2 or 3 lanes in each direction), and generally causing disturbances. That’s the kind of thing that attracts the attention of the 👮‍♀️ 🚓 cops. Watch other drivers over time, and you’ll see the difference between the person travelling fast and the person in a hurry. People rushing are easy to spot, because they often take unnecessary chances, increasing the risk to themselves and everyone around them. People rushing in cars are doubly dangerous in traffic, because it’s that much harder to pass other cars than it is when you’re on a bike, especially a very fast one. As well, the cars have a lot more mass and thus momentum, so that if something terrible happens, an out-of-control car can take out several other cars. That’s much less likely if a bike rider is being foolish, which is not recommended by common sense anyway. Cruising at high speed on a bike gets you there sooner, and using good road manners avoids disturbing or annoying car and truck drivers. A move that makes car or truck drivers hate you means that they’ll then hate every other rider they meet, which is bad for everyone. Use common sense and courtesy. It’s free, and it really pays off.

Absolutely MLH&R! My good friend just beat a 140+ mph ticket because they couldn’t get consistent readings from the air. Did the ton when it was still a big deal. My “retirement” bike does an 11 flat stock, with a dyno sheet that shows a significant bump across that broad Triumph triple power range. This time I will take it to the strip, out of respect for my loved ones’ fears. But I am in search of a quarter in the tens above 130 mph. Because I am supposed to be intelligent, but I was born with a hooner gene. Props to my love, who wants me to do this. Just because I am not ready to be old yet. You are proof that I am not the only otherwise intelligent person who loves to ride fast. But I’ll bet you still blow out the carbon lol when no one is looking. I still semi secretly wonder if I can keep it street legal as an older liter bike, but break into the 9 seconds range without spending a fortune. Not sure it’s possible. But want to find out. Had the chain lock up at around 235. Luckily, it broke loose and I was able coast it off the road. Had to replace the chain, sprocket, and some other bits it broke off. The ass clinch was unreal. I rarely get it over 120 these days.

I had Kwaka c2h (aka widdow maker) nice bike to ride until you hit 8k rpm then wants to kill you. Had to replace brake pads and lines as the brakes were not the best as standard.

I owned a turbo supra when I was young. I've actually owned several. Much the same. Not just the highway, though. Hardly a day would go by on any given week I wouldn't be doing 140-150+mph, usually multiple times. Not very smart, but at the time, I just didn't care. Not that I didn't care about people on the road. I was always doing my best to do it in a safe manner for others. But that's just ignorant. Shit happens. Luckily, not to me. And not to anyone else. Not then.

Yup, that's correct. The fun part about Swedish law is that unless you're specifically caught during a run, with your ass on the bike, they can't really do anything. Which is why Ghostrider couldn't do this in basically any country other than Sweden and maybe Norway (can't fully recall if they have the same laws regarding that).

in sweden if the police can't see your face they can't show up to your house the next day and arrest you, they have to be able to prove that it was you riding.

in a lot of ways it's easier if you're going faster than everything around you. One thing that would worry me at this speed is getting caught by surprise by another biker going even faster as I can't see anything in the mirrors, they shake too much. Oh, and a car doing a surprising thing, or debris, potholes, animals etc on the road. You have to be good, but also lucky.

They did confiscate it tho. Something like 7 years ago. He was real made bjt they had no proof anyway so they had to give it back
