It’s a song about suicide. He wrote the song about his aunt who committed suicide when he was young.

Great reaction ladies keep it up his such a great singer Lewis has Tourette's as well and He wrote this after losing his aunt his moms sister to suicide he didn’t know her that well but it was hard for his mom this is what he said It’s about suicide. Not necessarily the act of it, but, like, after it happens, the aftermath of it. And people kind of blaming themselves or starting to think, you know, “What could I have done to help that person?” or whatever. When I was five or six, my aunt committed suicide and I just remember recently speaking to my mom about her feelings. About going through that sort of rigmarole in your head of like, you know, “What could I have done here? Could I have done anything?” That’s what he said I love the ending with the voice machine as well gosh you really don’t know what someone is going through and it’s usually the ones who seem the strongest that go I’ve lost 3 ppl in my life to suicide and you wouldn’t think they were suicidal another great Lewis capaldi song is bruises

@@garymcatear822 if you mean do i have all his albums and go to his concerts, the answer to that is No. When he first started coming up and getting famous with the song "your beautiful" ect, i didn't like him, it wasn't him, it was just that song because it was every where on every radio station, but now i'm older and less angry about everything, and concentrate on the actual story he saying in his songs, it makes sense now, and these songs i mentioned, although quite sad, they are very powerful and we can all relate to them in some way..

@@garymcatear822 lewis capaldi is good, songs like before you go, someone you loved, i wish you the best ect, and he makes good videos, but james blunt has been going longer and has more songs, they are both good artists though.

As someone who has attempted to end my life several times and who has spent over 20 years with severe depression among other mental illnesses this song makes me cry every single time I hear it!! The lines "was there something I could have said to make your heart beat better" and "it kills me how your mind can make you feel so worthless" touch me in my soul!!!
