Go all in on this band. They're one of the greats. True pioneers.

I enjoyed your reaction man! The fact that you liked this means you have a vast treasure trove directly in front of you! This song is a sort of a minimalistic distillation of what their sound has become, which has just been an ever-increasingly elaborate version of the early down-tuned guitar riffing, a jazz-oriented sense of melody, doing funk-like syncopations in an over-the-bar fashion…try “Glints Collide” or “Stengah” or “Perpetual Black Second” from _Nothing_ or “Obzen” or “Pineal Gland Optics” or “Dancers to a Discordant System” from Obzen. Or “By the Ton” or “Born in Dissonance” from _The Violent Sleep of Reason._

Meshuggah - New Millenium Cyanide Christ. It's from Chaosphere (1998), great songs and album.

This is the opening track on their current tour. Find the YT video of their Royal Albert Hall show...the 9 minute version. The crowd was noisy right up to the first beat and then silence in unison. The light show is on another level. I've been going to concerts since the early 70s. I've never been so awestruck!

I would suggest "Dancers to a Discordant System" from Meshuggah. I truly think that songs is their magnum opus. If you decide to go for it do the studio version.
@Retseadog2 жыл бұрын
completely agree, the groove is just insane, plus the SOLO!!
@bogmirkovic82192 жыл бұрын
@@Retseadog Everything about that track is perfection. All the instruments, Jens killed on vocals, mindbending solo and lyrics like a cherry on top.

Yep, it’s among my favorites! I can recall the first time I heard it in ‘06 fresh off the shelf! By that time, sorta kinda knew their style…during the clean intro thinking “no way all this is the riff…” Boom…life over.

You have some lovely exploration ahead of you, loved the reaction, hope to see more.
great recommendations. eye would add if you are drum-minded then the tomas haake drum cams are essential.

Their entire discography is a gold mine. They have mostly kept the same members for their entire existence, except for adding the current bass player about 20 years ago. I recommend their song "I Am Colossus" after this if you want something somewhat similar. I also recommend the entire new album. But I also recommend going back to their early albums and listening through chronologically so you get to experience the evolution of their sound. They're always progressing and trying new ideas, and each album has its own unique character and style.

This was their show opening piece on their last tour. I went to see the NYC show in September, and wow, what a show. Combined with the light set up it just blows everything away.

In before "You gotta check out Bleed!" You should check it out but maybe save it for a bit because there is literally 1000 Bleed reactions on YT. And if you do it then my hot tip is go with either the studio version (2 minutes longer) or a live version (the one from their "Alive" DVD) over the video clip. Just some suggestions. As for some of their Greatest hits, Rational Gaze, Straws Pulled At Random and New Millennium Cyanide Christ Are 3 that come to mind immediately/essentials. Also, lately you've become my favorite "reaction guy" on YT, and i watch em all lol. Cheers!

looks like you are in. as you've started with the new album, eye would suggest doing the whole album. there's no chaff in sight if you work backwards through there discography, and the earliest stuff is brilliant (even if the production is in its infancy). keep going.

This song is their most recent album (and live) opener and not a true song in a Meshuggah sense. They have DOZENS more heavier songs and their rabbit hole is the deepest of all bands you will ever hear. Enjoy the ride ;)

Hey! Its been months since the last reaction for "Be'lakor", would appreciate if you react to them again, especially if its "By Moon and Star" or "An Ember's Arc", both from albums that you didnt listen yet and they are really good.
