When Light does between the stairs it symbolises how he won’t be in Heaven nor Hell, but somewhere in between or probably nothing

I prefer this over the manga ending. I know Light was both the main character and main villain, but he was still the primary main character, and a primary main character deserves a special death. I also love how, rather in the manga ending where he dies in the warehouse with everyone watching, the anime ending has just him and Ryuk. Like how it was in the very beginning. Besides, it’s nice to be reminded that Light used to be a sweet kid. He had a promising future ahead of him, but he threw it all away. The music, voice acting, camera work, and emotional impact deserve praise here. I also like how he saw L’s ghost while dying in the same way he killed L. Down to the camera angles, their deaths are nearly identical. It’s a nice bit of irony.

Love him or hate him there's no denying fact that Light is one of the greatest mc's of all time. I also felt emotional and teared up on his death, even though I know I shouldn't I still did.

I felt empty after I finished this series…. A top 5 for me.

Light's death hit hard af . I didn't cry but sat at one place and thinked how could this happen , he's the MC , Death Note was my first and will always one of my favourite ❤️❤️❤️ and Light was not wrong , just the path he chosen was 🥀

Everyone was reacting to the ending while the girl in the bottom left was still trying to figure out why there was so much blood when Mikami stabbed himself. 🤣🤣🤣

I cant believe death note made me cry over a murder I watched it with my family and I tried to hold it in. After we all left the room I just balled out.

I had no idea that the last hallucination I had on my deathbed was of my former nemesis, L. Light and L are similar, even though they stand in opposite positions. They must have felt a kinship somewhere.

The whole ending feels out of place. For one he finally shows how insane he's become. And Ryuk says "who knows how long that will take" when he might die. But he's a shinigami. He should know when he will die. From what I've read there was an alternate ending in the comics. Spoilers: In the comic he wins and lives a long life. He eventually gets bored and asks Ryuk to kill him. When he dies he wakes up in the shinigami word and intends to bring life back to it in exchange for still existing after his punishment (which is dying in every way he has killed others). Personally I think that ending would of been much better to put in the show.

"He killed him out of love" PFFFFFTTTT. He killed him because he didn't wanna wait around in a prison cell until he died.
