The Dark Troopers are terrifyingly awesome, and I absolutely love that they look like a combination of Iron Man and Darth Vader.

Funny you should say that. The original Dark Troopers were clones who were improved with the same technology used to make a mangled Anakin Skywalker into the Darth Vader we all know and love.

After rewatching season 1 before season 2, I notice two hidden cinema references in the Mandalorian: the western cowboy atmosphere from *The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly* and Din’s bond with Grogu has a similar metaphor in the Japanese samurai series *Lone Wolf and the Cub* .
