Dude i finished Gallant two days ago and LOVED it. It's the kind of whimsical in a muted tone sort of way and I really really enjoyed it. The vibes were great. The only thing I wanted for this book was for it to be longer😭 it felt rushed!!!!! It needed like 100-150 more pages :(

Also reading 📖 update I’m almost done with Kingdom Of Cursed the sequel to Kingdom Of The Wicked which don’t get me wrong I love the plot, the characters, atmosphere, etc however it was very repetitive, the main character is overhyped, and I don’t like how she thinks she knows everything. But overall I love it though and I’ll definitely give you an update when I’m done . Update I didn’t exactly like this series particularly but that’s okay I recognize it’s not for me and hope you all enjoy it ❤

So apparently, my reader type is "subject matter expert". It says that I'm discerning in my tastes and genres, but once I pick a subject, I'm all in. I guess, it's not wrong because I started reading the Shadowhunter Chronicles recently and am nearly caught up to next upcoming book.😄😄

I read Gallant recently and I really enjoyed it. Gave me some a kind of Frances Hardinge vibe. I was caught up in the story from the start and really wanted to see where it went. It did not disappoint.

Well, Jesse, I think moving on from the death of a loved one, especially the one you loved with all your heart, it's not for everyone. Sometimes you can't. I lost my mother 3 months ago. My sister has already moved on, my father hasn't moved on, but he's fine. And I just can't forget that day when she left in my hands. I still go and look for her to tell her something and then I realise and it's like the wind is knocked out of me. And it's painful. It's painful being the one who remembers. I completely agree about Gallant. Not every fantasy needs to turn into a three-book epic series where every side character gets a POV. I mean I like that as well, but especially for chilling during the summer I like casual stories like this one as well. V.E. Schwab knows what she's doing.

I feel very sad to say that I had sort of a reading slump while reading Gallant, now that I'm back with my reading streak I will re-read it again! But I definitely love how smooth and not bumpy its plot is! A gentle fantasy is nice to read every once in a while and as a big fan of fantasy i do love those books with complex worlds and plots and many characters but it was very relaxing to read something so simple yet so intriguing at the same time! Ms. VE Scwab really never ceases to surprise me with her books T-T

Gallant was the first VE Schwab book I read. I really liked it up until maybe the last third of the book. I was planning to give it 4 stars but then dropped it down to 3 stars after finishing it. I think I wasn't a fan of the direction the book took towards the end and like you said things needed more fleshing out. But I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm still looking forward to reading more of their books.

Dude i loved Family of Liars, i saw it in a shop one day and was like i totally don't need anymore books but I NEED TO KNOW!!

Apparently I am a Serial Reader. And honestly, pretty accurate. The only problem is it seems to think I like crime stories which is not the case at all. I am also a subject matter expert and a leading lady. I would say that I do read a range of genres, but when I am in the mood for something I do search for it. Most recently it has been witchy, weird horror, and gothic reads. And yes, I do like complicated characters, but I love when I have complicated women characters because I am just that much less likely to find them. I totally agree about gallant! I just finished it last night and I love VE Schwab's writing, I love the themes, and just the gothic-y atmosphere of it. But as a story I do feel like the plot could have been a little more fleshed out. I think it's one of those quiet books that you should just enjoy for what they are. I gave it 4.5 stars. I think if it was a little longer it would have given the author a bit more space to flesh out the characters and thicken the plot

I've mostly been ignoring the negative press for Gallant. Partly because I'm not hard to please as long as you don't kill off the main character and partly because quite often I'll like books that the rest of BookTube feels kind of "meh" on.

I am the same exact way at the dollar store lol and I buy all the random, interesting looking books there as well because I have no self control. I got Subject Matter Expert, Young at Heart and Self-Starter. I’m definitely a self-starter but I wish I could be more of a finisher of books. I tend to be a mood reader lol. Though if I find a book or series I’m really interested in, I will devour it then dive deep until I can answer just about every trivia question which fits with Subject Matter Expert. Also, I’m definitely Young At Heart because I still enjoy Children’s and Middle Grade books from time to time. So thanks for sending me to the quiz :) it definitely wasn’t wrong lol
