Yes, she is a wonderful character. Unfortunately, she's given to us fully formed without much room to develop. Nonetheless, she tells us a lot about the author, his sense of humor, and his way of judging people, warts and all.

Hey Emma! On page 560 of David Copperfield. I definitely think that it gets better. I agree that it does get sort of repetitive with all of his moving about but I enjoy all of the characters and their interconnectedness. I would say keep going because some drama definitely unfolds after he’s out of his childhood and into his more adult life.

Honestly surprised that you are not enjoying David Copperfield I flew through it in like 3 weeks because I loved it so much I wonder if maybe after reading so many Dickens last year you are suffering from Dickensian fatigue? Don't really have much to say as help in that regard, but I feel like once you are done with the introduction and the characters start interconnecting more, the point of the book becomes a bit more clearer What I loved the most about David C was that it truly felt like life feels in my opinion, we have characters coming and going, and actions having a ripple effect I hope you find enjoyment soon, looking forward to the liveshow

I wouldn't even know where to start with doing a Vlog channel of my own tbh but I'm just about to start a new part time job in a few weeks (for medical reasons I have to go part time and it wasn't possible at my current workplace in my current role) so I'll be spending my spare couple of days each week studying yet again (always thirsty for knowledge) and also getting back into my various hobbies and getting out of my little 'I'm too busy and tired' reading slump! Calcifer looks great, which had worried me bc. my cat never reacted well to any sojourn. So that's good. As for chairs, I use a La-Z-Boy office chair, with which I'm happy, and also I have a small pillow on it. Just before seeing you here I put down Catcher in the Rye, after reading the first 45 pages or so. So far, it is very much like the novels I used to read as a kid. Writing styles have changed since then, and it is therefore a welcome relief. Earlier this week I finished David Copperfield, and have only one quote for you: "In this country there are neither slaves nor slavedrivers ...[and therefore] will walk wheresoever I please." With regards to office chairs: gaming chairs are actually NOT a good purchase at all. They commonly lack ergonomic features and are simply not comfortable. If you’re willing to spend more, look into Steelcase chairs. You’ll need to try them to see which one suits you but they’ve got quite a few options and are not aesthetically displeasing. Edit: typos

I started rereading The Catcher in the Rye Monday and wow I loved it the first time, but now I adore it 😍 I was nervous bc Carolyn said it’s her least favorite classic and several of my friends said they hated Holden, but it is not disappointing. When I read it the first time, I loved it bc I related to Holden so much. This time, I still relate, but I understand so much better what Holden’s going through and why he can’t communicate and my heart is just breaking! I’m a little over halfway through DC on audiobook. I definitely wouldn’t have made it very far if I was physically reading, but I’ve found the audiobook a very comforting listen. I’ve found some parts I’m interest in and into and others I could care less. My audiobook hold lapsed so I had to check out a diff audiobook and I don’t like this narrator as much.

I don't have specific recommendations for brands or models, but when looking for a new chair, the best bet would be either a high-quality office chair or a gaming chair. The office chairs don't usually have headrests, whereas gaming chairs do, but the office chairs are apparently better ergonomically for the back than a gaming chair, though a gaming chair would still be miles better than a regular chair. I have a rare muscle disease and I'm considering a gaming chair (though I'm not a gamer). I agree about the aesthetics though - I don't like how they look. I like the look of cozy, homely things, not something that looks like its the seat in the control centre of a spaceship.

Invest in a good quality executive chair!! They can be a bit bulkier than the gaming chairs but they do the same great things for your posture without the gfuel aesthetic. i've seen different price ranges, imo if you spend more than five hours a day sat on it its a good investment to get a really good desk chair. the only two features you really need are a full backrest that goes up to the top of your head and a height lever to get the right height for your desk.

David Copperfield was my second Dickens novel (I read it a few months ago) and I didn't enjoy it as much as Bleak House, which I loved. Hanging on for the Dickens vs Tolstoy club to get there eventually! I'm going to try Great Expectations or Our Mutual Friend next.

Hi Emma, thanks for another great video. I'm currently reading a book and I can't stop thinking about you whilst reading it. It's called Ocean Sea and I think you would love it. The story takes place mainly at a remote shoreline hotel and it gives me similar vibes as One Hundred Years of Solitude. Would love to hear your thoughts 💕 Sending you a hug from Portugal :)
