Mercedes must focus on the 2026 regulations, which begin on January 1, 2025. The date allowed by the FIA for the current teams on the grid to have authorization to develop the 2026 car, which is what matters, as no one in this current regulation will challenge Red Bull. With Hamilton's departure, I think they already have this intention and won't try too hard to finish in 3rd or 4th place in the constructors' championship.
