yeah I think the majority of rpf (real people fiction) writers would never ever want the person they wrote it about to see it. I follow some people who write it (for unrelated reasons) and they'll actively hide their stuff if the person says they're reading fanfic for a video. I still think writing fanfic about real people is creepy but I have to give the writers credit for being so considerate.

Because fanfiction is usually one of the first things young people write before they learn to write original works. Time hopping is pretty much the no. 1 thing people struggle with when they start writing fiction and it takes most quite some time and practice to stop doing it. I started writing fiction when I was 8 and mostly got over this bad habit by 10, but occasionally still hopped around in time, took another year or two until I stopped doing it completely. Recently some friends (late twenties, early thirties) got into writing and gave their first tries to me for advice, and unsurprisingly, time hopping was the no. 1 mistake even though they all speak nearly flawless English. Writing down a story on paper is somwhat different from having conversations though, so I don't blame them :) But yea, that's why you see so many jumps between past tense and present tense in fanfiction, sometimes even within the same sentence.
