Time for a positive sequel to my "Life, Death & Comicbooks" video! In this one I go over my reading schedule and the minimums I've set for myself now and take a look at a possible work-free future!

I need to pick up on my reading. I was reading about an hour a day. Sometimes I’d even make a day of it. Now I just read when I get the urge. Granted I have watched a lot of foreign films this years. I need to read the subtitles. Great video, Larry.

Thanks for sharing this! Really enjoyed it and wish more KZfaqrs would share their reading habits. I'm lucky right now becasue I teach primary school in China and my apartment is in the school dorm. I only have to be in the school when I have classes which usually isn't until about 10am so as I wake up around 6am my favourite thing to do is read in bed in the morning, Weekends and holidays this just goes on longer and I have a long summer vacation coming up which is also gonna be great for my reading.As a 54 year old divorced guy reading is pretty much what I look forward to (and the nap of course😉).I read about the same amount prose as you but more comics because of the free time I'm lucky to have. Like you, god knows when I'll retire or where I'll be living. I'm trying to save some money each month rather than spend too much on nice collected editions (especially as the day will come when I'll have to move them back to the UK😅)

I can totally relate to your desire to track your reading and also look into the future to try to expand those reading times. I use excel sheets on my phone to track my reads of the year and my to be read stack which is an embarrassing 210 collected editions. Those are trade paperbacks, omnis, OGNs, whatever - so you can only imagine the page count. But I've been trying to limit new purchases and focus on getting through this TBR stack. If I keep up with my 2024 pace, I won't be fully through these books for another 3.5 years. I'm only in my 30s, so I have lots of time left, but I don't think this limited schedule will expand too much until the kids are older. It's tough to find the time even when it's something we're passionate about!

Hah - we don’t need to read them all. That Good Reads is cool. I want to do that and find you there. So funny - I’d rather do four ten-hour days. But we always want what we don’t have. Your background looks amazing. You manifest!!!! You will do it. Love the breakdown of reading time. Fun vid - thanks for sharing.

Coincidentally I also set up a 100 book reading challenge on good reads this year! It’s been fun. I’m basically a trade waiter these days so I don’t usually record single issues but nothing wrong with that! I’ve also recorded books that don’t even have any words like Korgi lol

Hi Larry, I just threw a follow to you on Goodreads. I am behind schedule this year. My goal is just 25 books and I just finished my 7th book. I'm trying to read while I have a ballgame on in the background. I would love to do 30-35 pages a night myself.

Hi Larry, interesting video. I'm also using that application but I did not set a goal. I just love to track what I read, mostly. Also, I read manga, comic, graphic novels and novels so I see that number as a ''fun fact''. I try to read about an hour a day. Half hour with my kids and the other half hour alone.

I usually like to read every night, but sometimes life gets in the way and I can't. But when I do I have to read at least 1 issue, prefer getting 2 or more in, but I'm not one to stop in the middle of an issue. That would drive me insane.

So how I do it is I got this google docs spreadsheet that I got from Peter (crushing krisis) and I put in single issues/trades etc. if I read an omnibus or trade then I simply just put the individual issues in the spreadsheet. If it’s just a regular graphic novel I usually just count that as one issue unless it’s real big and then I might count one chapter as an issue. It also keeps up with you reading goals and tells you what you’ve been reading the most, it has all the data and graphs and charts as well. Last year I read 3400 issues and this year my goal is 4000. I’m a tad bit behind because I had a few weeks where I didn’t read but I’ve averaged 9.3 issues a day and only need to bump that up to about 11 per day to meet my average which is doable because I spent a lot of the beginning of the year reading silver and Bronze Age books.
