I've yet to find a go-to romantic suspense author myself but Mia Sheridan's Where the Blame Lies and Where the Truth Lives duet (which could also be read as standalones) is absolutely amazing. They're gritty, raw and full of suspense. Both the romance and suspense/action are integral to the story. There is some level of insta-love but the development of the relationships in both books could definitely be classified as a slow burn. They were my first Mia Sheridan reads and I was surprised to find out that her more hyped books (Stinger, etc.) don't come close in terms of quality notwithstanding the difference in sub-genres LOL

It must be really tough to create a good romance with believable suspense elements because so few do it consistently. I read the first four books in Lost series by Cynthia Eden beginning with Broken before I quit reading it. I gave all of them three stars except book #3 Shattered - 4 stars. The twists and serial killer theme raised it above the others. Older ones: Linda Howard: Dream Man, Heart of Fire, After the Night, The Mackenzie Family series - a lot of hers are good but not all, Pamela Clare's I-Team series, Katherine Sutcliffe - Darkling I Listen, Karen Robards - One Summer, Cindy Gerard's The Bodyguard series, Maya Banks - Early books in the KGI series, Christy Reece's Last Chance Rescue series, Tiffany Snow's Kathleen Turner series. More recently: Rachel Grant's Evidence series, Elle Kennedy's Killer Instinct series, Toni Anderson's Barkley Sound Duology, Laura Griffin's Tracers series, Lea Griffith's Endgame Ops and No Mercy series. I wish I could find more recent authors that are more successful writing romantic suspense. Thanks for the Trouble for Hire rec - I haven't started reading it yet, but I will soon. I bought the first two after your last romantic suspense video - which I enjoyed. Sorry Ramsey's story was a disappointment for you.

More marriage of convenience rec! Historical and Contemporary :)

I feel like a lot of romantic suspense has insta love, it's part of the genre, get the falling into a relationship out of the way to let the mystery unfold. For anyone looking for more old school ones, Linda Howard Mr. Perfect, Julie Garwood Heartbreaker are really good. And for shorter reads, Justine Davis' Harlequin Romantic Suspense are fun little books.

Nobody does romantic suspense like Juno Rushdan. Period. The woman is an exceptional writer and she used to be a federal agent so she walks the talk. Do try her books.

A Romantic Suspense series that I think you may like is Katie Ruggle's Search and Rescue Series! The third book in that series ‘Gone Too Deep' is my favourite, and its also a perfect read for the upcoming winter season!❤

Really love this video. I’ve been more interested in reading thriller/suspense/mystery books but I still want that romantic element. I haven’t read her books yet but Toni Anderson is a romantic suspense author that got recommend to me by bookbub. I’m currently reading my first romantic suspense, whiteout which I’m liking so far.
