On Sunday, October 18th, 2009, the Reading & Northern Railroad ran a steam-powered excursion between Port Clinton and Jim Thorpe, so passengers could experience the fall foliage in Carbon & Schuylkill counties. The foliage was indeed spectacular, and the crew of #425 put on an awesome as we follow along trackside. This video includes a few shots from Port Cinton to Jim Thorpe, turning on the turntable in Jim Thorpe, and a final scene as the train head back towards Port Clinton.
Full-length feature video is now on sale!

I know that this is a CNJ 3-chime, I'm just noting that it sounds the same notes as a PRR 3 chime. In the beginning it starts off sounding E, G, B then jumps to F#, A, D1 1st Inversion triad....which is the same double-chord music that Pennsy whistles are known for....so beautiful!

Nice, not much of any foliage, but that doesn't matter, any running of the 425 is a good one. I wish I could have made it. :-(

@TheDeputation I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's where they are storing the 2102, and the 425 when it is not running. I think there was another steam engine in there at another time, the number I'm not sure of, and I don't even know if it's there anymore.

Adam, excellent footage of the excursion through the Lehigh Valley area from Jim Thorpe with #425. My husband and I hope to go up there before the fall season is over. I hope #425 is running. We were in Kempton at the WK&S recently, but #65 wasn't running. Under federal mandate she needs to pass inspection before operation. I enjoy the scenery at the lake. Thanks for posting! Diane Potter

@jlvr6racer Oh the 614; no. Ross Rowland (kinda) owns that but has nowhere to store it, so it'll probably sit in Port Clinton for another decade.

I wonder... At 6:34, why do those 2 guys have to stand on the back of the tender where if they fall, they're dead? I would think that standing on the side ladder would make more sense and be safer. Let alone 2 guys to back an engine up?

Wonderful Videos!! When two or more modern diesel electric locomotives are working together, I think they "power synchronized", i.e., each does the same amount of work. How is is done when as in this video you have a vintage steam engine and a diesel electric on the same train? I love these videos; thanks for posting them. RL Atlanta, GA USA

@ChesapeakeOhio614 You know what I dunno if your Lenny impersonating Ross Rowland or that you actually ARE Ross Rowland. It doesn't matter, I stand my ground and I have other to back me up that Len Shaner is nothing but a fraud and will brown-nose anyway he can to get what he wants.
