I did not find the carriage scene cringe or unauthentic at all. I have the impression that many people only call the carriage scene “cringe” because they can't imagine that a fat/curvy woman is desirable.

i dont like it when ppl constantly compare polin to kanthony, it really annoys me when ppl make it a competition🙄theyre not the same. and in terms of love declarations, anthony's is more sexy, like a turn on, and Colin's is more sweet, like a very heartwarming, melting moment. it all comes down to preference, but they are both amazing in their own ways. i wish more ppl would see that

For me the lines ‘A feeling like torture, but one that I cannot, will not, do not want to give up’ is the best declaration of all seasons. I love this scene so much and it’s in the details: the declaration, Luke’s look when her hand is in his hair, the consent nod, the curvy body being represented and the focus of her pleasure is different to what we are used to seeing!

I think we are so obsessed by the carriage scene because it is top-notch perfection in terms of adventurous location, great communication from Colin to Penelope and the most perfect sexy and intimate scene with our girl Pen achieving several orgasms. It is the desire, love and care Colin showed to our girl that makes it perfect and the fact that before he went all through he sought her consent, which in my opinion is the cherry on top of the cake. Is there anything sexier than consent in a sexual relationship?!? We see you Colin! And you made us all very proud!

I did not think it was cringe at all. This was three seasons in the making. They’ve known each other since they were children. I’ve all the characters on the show. They have the longest history. I love that he ran to the carriage, I love that he’s afraid to declare himself, and I loved his reaction when he thought she was turning him down. The build was perfect. The carriage was very sweet, especially when he put her together so he could bring her into house and tell his family with their engaged.

After finishing the carriage scene I rewatched it I think 5 or six times for like three days like it was baaaaad😭✋🏾 I’ve also been replaying their comedy moments, especially the one under the tree I LOVE that scene. They really nailed the cute and awkwardness of it😆

I read the book a few weeks ago. I’m actually surprised how much crossover there’s been from the book - but the biggest change I’m grateful exists is that Colin is gentle in the show while book Colin is aggressive, angry, and low key violent. I like the changes.

i love polins story so much more than the other seasons because i just prefer friends to lovers over enemies to lovers usually. hot take but i also prefer "preferring sleep because that is wherebi might find you" more than "bane of my existence because anthony's declaration was in a moment of anger/desire and colins was in a moment of desparation and vulnerability. hes not yelling at her hes begging her to feel the same way he does, not knowing shes felt that way for years. not saying that anthony's was bad, its still one of my favorite bridgerton scenes, and i love kanthony with all my heart, i just personally prefer the more soft romantic vibes of polins relationship also, im pretty sure jealous was playing for that entire scene, as soon as penelope starts talking to lord remmington that song is playing, but i agree i wish it had been able to shine in the forefront rather than being a background song thats over as soon as you notice it

A lot of the critique I have seen of the carriage scene is rooted in fat phobia. They don’t think Pen deserves to be seen as desirable.

I've seen the carriage scene more times than I'm willing to admit. It was the most sexy, passionate, romantic and steamy scene I have ever seen in my entire life and without it being necessary for any of the protagonists to take off their clothes. It felt so real that at one point I felt bad about myself for watching such an intimate moment between Colin and Penelope, something that didn't happen to me with any of the previous leads. I felt it all in my body and every time I watch the scene again, I feel exactly the same as I felt the first time I saw it. Just amazing.

It reminds of me the relationship between Morgan & Garcia from Criminal Minds. They are unhinged flirty without it being awkwardly weird and being the best of the best friends to each other. I hope they do more film projects together after the roles for the Bridgerton show is complete. Loving your channel!

The Carriage Scene- I’ve watched that almost 100x. I absolutely love the scene. The caress and his face… I am done. My kitty was twitching! 😂 My only hope is I get more angry, bossy Dom Daddy Colin in Part 2. Book Colin is absolutely obsessed with Pen. Follows her, gets jealous of imaginary suitors, and gets mad at her for taking chances. He’s actually a little mean to her at times too, but he’s so enthralled with her it just seems almost DarkFey hot.

I didn’t think it was cringy at all it was just precious! Thier natural chemistry in real life made these scenes that much better! If they didn’t have that relationship the scenes would not be as good at all in my opinion.

I love Colin’s declaration. I would prefer someone to love me to the point they dream of me every night versus me being the bane of their existence. Being the bane of someone’s existence kind of has a negative connotation, toxic in nature at least to me. For me at least I don’t want the person I love to see me as the bane of his existence it just would not make me feel good.

18:00 I do not think it is possible to compare one declaration with another and decide which is better, because each one was the best declaration of love for that couple, at that moment, and following the logic of their story. They are not interchangeable. I couldn't take Daphne's line "I burn for you" and imagine how Kate would say it. "You are the bane of my existence..." is not a phrase that Colin would say to his dear Penelope. Colin says the best confession his story leads him to say to describe his deep love for the woman he knows and admires.

When Anthony tells Kate, she’s bane 24:47 of his existence, that scene he’s filled with anger because he’s already gone down this road with her sister and he feels trapped so he says this out of anger and frustration mostly at himself and he’s angry at her because she exist and he can’t have her at this point. When Colin declares to Penelope about when he prefers dreaming because he may find her, he declares his love for her he openly say that he’s feeling in the moment so it is two different scenes one when he’s angry and frustrated and Colin is more bittersweet because he’s desperate because he wants her to reciprocate his feelings.

Twitter (i will never call it that other name lmao😭) is such a polarizing place to be. Not just in terms of Bridgerton, but for so many other things I have seen some of the most heartwarming praise and admiration for ppl and i have also witnessed the most horrifying, disgusting, demeaning thoughts on there as well. I get everyone has their own opinion, and that's fine, but bullying isnt criticism. Im just happy that the record breaking viewership speaks for itself and that all of the bridgerton cast, especially Nicola and Luke, only pay attention to the admiration and even some of the well-intended critiques that they get, cuz those are the only ones that matter

I was actually on edge watching the carriage scene because I was trying to figure out how far they were about to go, after all, it's still the 19th century. Then I heard the actor and actress who play Colin and Penelope were so into it during the carriage scene, that they didn't hear the director yell cut. They really gave everything they had, who can complain about that?

I am proud to announce i watch several times a day the first kiss and especially the carriage scene and its definitely a bed time and morning time routine. Once the Part 2 is out we will break social media for sure 😂 But for why i watch. There is something so intimate and sexy there, the consent in the scene, the desire to touch and relate the love they feel. Not even needing to be naked to blown our brains. Like they are fully clothed and for me that was the best scene ever. So intimate, so sweet, the way they smiled gigling being happy in their moment, the caress of Colin, the aftercare. Its something so we can relate to. It was cute, sweet, hot, sexy and it gave us all what we needed. And the more sexy is how Colin outrun 4 horses to get to her, he was desperate. The moment he understood his feelings he threw all rules and had to get to her. There is nothing more sexy than a man going after what he wants and loves. Not waiting a second more to be away from her but actually doing something about it immediately. So no. The scene is not cringy. It's sexy, powerful, mindblowing. The best.

In the book Colin accompanies Pen into the Featherington home to ask her mother for her hand in marriage. This is such a good and funny scene. Unfortunately in the show we do not have Felicity, the youngest sister, who is best friends with Hyacinth (and nice). Mrs. Featherington thinks Colin is here to propose to Felicity, even though he came in with Pen. She tries to send Pen and all the others out of the room, although Colin says he wants Pen to stay. Her mother just doesn't get it (which is kind if sad). Till he shouts out that it's Penelope he wants. You would have to read the whole scene.... I loved the kiss and the carriage scene, the music enhanced the whole atmosphere (I didn't recognize the song). It was romantic and sexy in a very sensual way.

Shondaland, no doubt, learned something from the handling of the Regee(sp?) contract. Probably included guaranteeing the main couple's return. In interviews, Jonathan Bailey stated that KAnthony will return for sibling weddings. He also said that he was so busy at one point that he was flying back and forth to work on three projects at once. They were Bridgerton, Wicked and Fellow Travelers. JB will also star in the new Jurassic World movie.

The mirror scene was more theoretical in the book but from rumours should be even better in the show. I love them together but I want more Pen Eloise drama and Bridgeton sibling drama, that’s what makes me happy

In regards to an earlier comment about Collin washing his hands If you notice when he is fixing her dress he uses his thumb and little finger to bring her dress up on Her shoulder and he hands her the opposite hand to help her down from the carriage just saying He is a gentleman and I choose to believe he did wash his hands after what happened in the carriage

Colin finding out is going to be so different in the show, in the book he comments the LW only goes after people who deserved it while in the show it’s personal so it’s going to be a far more explosive reveal. In the book the carriage scene and proposal happen almost straight after while there is no chance the reveal would lead to a proposal in the show

For when you were asking yourself about sex after engagement....absolutely not, it was not allowed to do that. The betrothed couple would sleep each one in their homes until their wedding night. That being said, even Mrs. Bridgerton in the first season tells Daphne that she and her soon to be husband would do "the nasty stuff" before marriage, but there was this sort of compromise (actually that term would have been used after some decades to refer to the Victorian era as the "Victorian Compromise", but I believe that it was already happening in the Regency era) where you would show society a certain behaviour but behind closed doors you could do basically whatever you wanted. The important thing is that nobody in the ton would know (even if they did the same thing themselves). And I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one who added the carriage scene to her night routine, honestly, i was a bit ashamed 😂 i find the chemistry in this scene far better than all the other sex scene in bridgerton (yes, including kanthony, sorry not sorry). It's far more intimate, and romantic, and loving and authentic, like two people not only attracted to eachother, but purely in love. I think part of the reason people find it cringe is because of the stigma around different kinds of body and sexuality, it's so sad that in 2024 we're still at that point.

I think having the engagement happening before the reveal makes Pen continuing as LW more of a question than it is in the book/it was before. She sacrificed LW before because it meant keeping El but when El found out she had nothing else but the leash her mother had around her neck. LW is the only thing in her life that can't be taken away or won't forsake her. But now she has Colin, there's the hope of love in her future where her mother, only a [few?] weeks[?] ago just called her stupid for thinking a girl like her could even hope to be loved by a man. This rearrangement opens up the choice: sacrifice Colin for LW, sacrifice LW for Colin, can she have both, can she have her career just in a different form? Also, I don't think there's a mirror scene in the book, is there? Colin just says he wants to do it in front of a mirror, no? I think the show is implementing it for more of a loving/vulnerability act than just a sexual one. I think it's hard to reconcile the Colin we know with the way he talks at the beginning of the season because it's not Colin, it's that Anthony/Benedict mask he's put on to try to be "normal". And I learned explicit novels had existed a long time before the show timeline, so it's plausible for Pen to have read one...but also she could have just sought solitude in a garden she didn't know was "occupied".

Anthony speech still sounds insane to me. Season 3 is the first season where the main plot doesn’t hinge on the guy having a bizarre trauma that he messes up what could be a healthy relationship over. Is Colin’s declaration (not sure it’s the official love declaration, btw) less sexy? Sure. But he’s also not a lunatic for saying it. I hate you but I love you? Get help.

I think that if you have not read the books, you do not have the full framework for the characters. Colin should have been traveling for 8 years. Colin is a grown ass man when he comes back for this season. Penelope is chaperoning her younger sister through the marriage mart and is 28 years old. I think that some of the magic is lost in the reimagined story line but, Shondaland does not disappoint. I am enjoying both versions immensely and I can't wait to see the different story lines withe the guaranteed outcomes. I think (for me) that when you develop a love story so well that I am embarrassed to see them make love because I feel like I'm intruding. I can't tell you how many times I have watched the kiss and the carriage scene. I absolutely love the violin interpretations.🥰

This constant comparison of Kanthony and Polin is so toxic that I had to get away from Twitter. I love Kanthony, okay? I live for everything angsty and stuff but Polin is like a balm to a lot of personal feelings I have had to face, I am a Polin fan through and through but I remember being at awe when S2 came and I binged watched it because it was so good. It is just unfair to compare two completely different personalities, love stories and people with each other when it could not be the same. Anthony was a parentified older sibling who had to shoulder the duty of his family at the tender age of 18, the way JB portrayed that, I felt it. But I also understand Colin because of my personal experience, I understand his thirst for being taken seriously, his thirst for duty and purpose, his thirst for wanting to have something that he can call his own. We have seen Colin struggle to find his footing in adulthood since S1. And both are totally different people, so I really don't understand this need people have to compare the two.

As a book reader, I like that the show takes it's liberties with adaptation as that's how I believe adaptations should be. Also I watched the show before reading the books so I may be biased, plus wasn't a huge fan of Romancing Mr. Bridgerton (Colin and Penelope's book).

I have read the book recently, after watching the first part of season 3. Honestly, I prefer the show. I didn't like the book that much. I find Colin in Shonda much sweeter, and the carriage scene feels more believable and emotionally packed than in the book. It might be an unpopular opinion for the book serie lovers. Or maybe because I see too much the flaws of the books as a fellow writer. But Show colin made me swoon with his earth-shaking realization and his tenderness. And Colin book annoyed the heck out of me. For several reasons. So, I don't really care if Shonda is loyal for the books or not, after that. I just adore show Colin and Penelope

I have so much to say but I can't say it all here. First my favs: 1-2 then Queen Charlette. I believe that 3 will be my favorite. I believe that many people are being so immature when they say negative stuff about the carriage scene. If you don't want to see intimate stuff then Bridgerton is not your show. Go to PG! We don't know what happened in season 1 for Regge not want to return. But it appears everyone wants to blame him for not staying.. Just take a look at how they pushed Daphne out and "the sister" in season 2, I'm angry about how they were both dismissed. I have beef with Pen and Kate cause they did some horrible stuff to friends and family, but everyone loves Pen and Kate.. I wonder why? My rant is over.

Hate to break it to you, but if we get 'boom boom, book to screen' on the mirror scene...then we're not getting a mirror scene. 😆 That's why the *idea* that they're going there has all us book readers by the throat - Colin's says what he says...and then the author doesn't deliver. ETA: also, to your point - in the books, it's been something like 12 years since the first book, so it definitely feels more realistic for that Colin to say some of those lines

I don't understand people who are against the drama of the LW reveal being delayed, for one thing, drama makes things interesting but for another comparing it to the books is unfair, book LW wasn't as impactful on the Bridgeton's, hell book Colin was not even upset she's LW, he was more upset that she had a career and he didn't, is that what people really want?!

I think people are judging Cressida to harshly. She is being pushed by her parents to marry like yesterday and up until she ripped Pen's dress she was really more bitchy thank anyone else. I mean Pen is literally 2 faced as the biggest asshole in the show is Whistledown. Daphne outright threatened her after she saw her in the garden with the Duke. P.S. Daphne was shitting on her chance at happiness with the Prince because she was not interested in the Prince at all. Eloise is so wrapped up in her own world she thinks Pen wants to be a spinster, that was never a thing. Also look how fast all the girls spread the Colin and Pen news around that party. My point is they are all bitchy and self serving but the show wants us to hate Cressida so they frame her as a villain but really she isn't much different from any of the other girls. Also I think a part of why she locks in on Pen this season is because she is jealous of Pen and Eloise. Eloise is the relationship she is most invested in and she is hell bent on making sure Eloise does not forgive Pen. Somebody said they ship Eloise and Cressida and honestly that makes so much sense to me right now because it is giving crazy possessive girlfriend vibes. 🤣🤣🤣

I've heard several reviewers say that they like what they did with TV Colin much better. At least so far. Because Book Colin is kind of a dick to Penelope throughout the story. But maybe some of that is still to come?

So far I’m not liking season 3. Colin and Penelope are suppose to be the leads but there are too many sub plots. I care more about Francesca’s story than Colin’s. I agree with the comment about chemistry, I don’t feel it either. I know it’s only four episodes but for me they dropped the ball.

So I’m hoping we still get the Colin stalks Pen and discovers her reveal. In the book he’s worried she’s leaving letters to another man and that’s why he reads the WD article. With Debling being in the mix then that insecurity could be really played into.
