Have you thought about doing a challenge where you try to accumulate 24 hours of reading in as short a time as possible? Like keeping track of how long you’re reading and seeing how many days it takes to add up to twenty-four hours of solid reading time?

There is a readathon called 24in48 where they do that kind of thing. It runs regularly - I'm thinking of doing it in Jan :)

I seriously want to try reading for 24 hrs. I've gotten close but sleep always ends up taking over. I'm into about 3 books right now, so it'd be nice to finish them. City of Ashes, The Wicked King, and Skyward.

One of the things that stopped me from enjoying Renegades as much as I wanted to was that I found it really predictable. The major plot twist at the end didn't surprise me at all which was a huge bummer. Also, Archenemies really dives into the politics more than Renegades so I think you will enjoy it more if you choose to continue with the series.

Saw that you posted and as I was settling in to watch I thought to myself “should I get ice cream?” And I was conflicted (kinda). Then I though WWRD, she would eat ice cream. So here I am on a 36 degree Australian summer day, eating ice cream and about to start the vlog!

Keeper of the Lost Cities is one of my top ten must-reads of 2019, I'm even more excited for it knowing you enjoyed it. That coffee shop is amazing! I don't know if I could ever live in such a big city but, the bookstores and coffee shops could almost convince me.

12:45 I find that a lot of people underestimate middle grade like this so I feel that it goes in appreciated. But I love MG, always have, and always will. 13:29 This is exactly how I feel.

Thank you! I feel the exact same about Renegades. It seems like everyone just raaaaves about this book and I just thought it was okay? I mean, it was... good. But it was a pretty average superhero story overall and I definitely think it’s a bit overhyped for what it is.

I felt the same way about Renegades! I thought it was predictable and a little too much character-driven for a book about superheroes. I've heard that Archenemies (the sequel) dives more into the politics of the world so hopefully I'll enjoy it more than Renegades. The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite series so I was a bit disappointed by Renegades.

Amélie Boucher To be fair, The Lunar Chronicles were purposefully predictable because that is simply the nature of fairy tales. She might have had trouble switching gears from writing books were she expected readers to practically know the plots. That’s disappointing to hear though, because I was looking forward to reading Renegades after just finishing and enjoying The Lunar Chronicles.

I totally agree with you about renegades! It was a fun concept, but I felt like it could have gone so much further in the plot. I just wanted a little more depth and didn’t stand out to me.

I personally read the first Mistborn to get into his series! It’s very well done. But Brandon, ever self-aware, has this on his blog as a suggestion: “If you don’t typically read fantasy, try Steelheart or Elantris. If you consider yourself a fantasy reader, try Mistborn: the Final Empire or The Way of Kings. If you like romance, try Warbreaker. If you’re a younger reader or want something humorous and lighthearted, try Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians. If you’re looking something that will appeal to young adults, try Steelheart, Mistborn, or The Rithmatist.”

Archenemies really amped up the stakes and political conversation. Nova, especially, had a lot of internal conflict because of the situation she’s in and what she’s being exposed to. I highly recommend it. It definitely was better than book 1
