well, re-reads count too, and it counts per chapter all added up, so if its a conistent reader it counts for more and if said consistent reader reeads the book multiple times each view goes in for more does that make sense? -a fanfic reader and writer

As someone who frequently reads fanfiction (not of you, and not of real people, but still), this is really funny to watch, partly because you went to Wattpad of all places. Yeah, sometimes you’ll find good fics on there, but if you want to be more aware of / warned about what you’re about to read, AO3 is much better. The tagging system is more thorough and - when used correctly by the author - is very specific, and the writing quality is typically higher (likely due to an older user base). The downside, though, is that AO3 has zero restrictions on what can be written and posted there. While the majority of fics & writers are relatively normal / hinged, there is… well, it’s a lot worse than the typical unhinged Wattpad story. So. If you ever want free trauma, I suggest finding your character tag on AO3 - Actually, I’ll see if I can get to an awful section of fics using the filters (AO3’s filtering system is much better than Wattpad’s, due to the more complex tagging system). Okay, so I used a few tag filters and got down to ~250 fics which are (potentially) unhinged. Probably won’t all be centered around you, but they all have the character tag, but there should be at least a few dozen which are. There seems to be a decent mix of unhinged smut and unhinged non-smut, and, looking through the first page of fics, I’m seeing some therapy-worthy tags on a few of them. Also, a lot of them will probably be DSMP fics, written about the characters rather than the content creators, since that’s a bit tricky to figure out & work around with the filters and fandom tags, so I just didn’t bother trying to exclude it. Yeah normally I would say do NOT search your name on fanfiction sites, cause like, it's full of 16 year olds writing about KZfaqrs they find hot. That's why it's not well written, cause it's teens writing about a crush they have (which they are doing off on sites where streamers don't go, and not in twitch chat or on twitter where you might see). It was never intended for the streamer to see, and probably they're now horrified that it got seen. I dunno, this one was funny, but I kind of feel bad for the writers, cause it's probably a bunch of teenagers who just got made fun of by a youtuber they admire.

honestly very tired of seeing content creators only engage with fanfiction to mock it. you never see them look at actually fun fanfiction the same way they react to fanart and animatics, and instead go after (usually) beginner writers for committing a cardinal sin of being cringe and weird online. this only results in author getting harassed abd publicly humiliated while the entirety of the medium remains overlooked by the fans and generally brushed off TwT

im sorry but the amount of smut that is made that has real people in it is insane. Its one thing if there fictional characters but these are real people man. There are PLENTY of very good writers that aren't beginners all that write this shit and fans read it. I mean come on its literally in the video half a million reads just a on one fic alone. The medium is most certainly not brushed off. Fanfics deserve the mockery they gain. But i do agree that writers shouldn't be harassed over it thats just cruel.

Like I don't think writing smut of real people is good in any way but there's a simple fucking rule that's "don't like, don't read". I don't know what to tell you but humiliating someone like this with a platform as big as Jack is just borderline harassment. Like oh what if someone made a video about how cringe someone's drawing is when it's literally just a new artist trying to draw? What do you think that's gonna accomplish? Also if you go out looking for said smut fics maybe you shouldn't be surprised when you find smut fics. Also fanfic authors DO get way less attention then fanartists and other artists. Tumblr and ao3 are great examples. A popular fanfic on tumblr will have 200 notes while popular fanart will have 10k notes. Mocking fanfics and fanfic writers just shows you have no appreciation for your fans to me.

@@meh9623Most creators do not ask to be written about in a sexual manner or romantic. But fandoms still make it regardless of boundaries or the creator's comfort. If a creator reads something about themselves that makes them uncomfortable they are allowed to be uncomfortable and laugh it off. If you make content about someone it should be allowed to be seen by the person your writing about. If the creator doesn't like it then whatever they don't have to love everything there fans make. It doesn't mean they don't appreciate there fans and the community. I make fanfics myself and i believe its fine to laugh at stupid wattpad fics. As long as your ONLY laughing at the content and don't go harassing the creators like going to all there socials and flooding there pages commenting about it on there post dming them ect ect. If your embarrassed that someone read your fan fic and didn't like it why post it at all? You can't post stuff online and expect everyone to love it. I mean the majority if these fanfics are fairly innocent and so wasn't jack's responses to them. This video is tame there are millions exactly like it. Its an internet staple to read weird fanfics and giggle its nothing new.

(Why can I not @ the original commentor?) Yeah, I'd really like to see them make a video/stream about some of the good fanfictions, like how they make videos/stream the animatics that they like. Actually more specifically I want to see them read some good *gen* fanfics. There's plenty of it out there, romance and smut is not everything. There are also some well liked animatics that are based off of fanfics.

The thing is. There’s worse fanfics on Ao3 but there’s also some wholesome nicer ones. Though it BARELY balances the bad stuff man. (Love the good fic writers though!)
