Shot my first wedding with the Sony ZV-E1 this weekend and absolutely loved the results. Used a combination of the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 with MC11 adapter and the Sony GM 24-70 II for all the shots in this video. Zero overheating issues and literally zero issues at all. The stabilization is finally useable for a lot of handheld scenarios that couldn't be done before. Typically I've used Panasonic cameras for anything handheld because the stabilization is so much better, but not anymore now that this is an option. This camera is like a 9.5/10 in every way and I highly recommend it.

Yeah I tested it a bunch the couple days before but it is always nerve wracking the first time going out on a paid gig, even if you've practiced with it!

love it! Really good job and the nice to hear all that after buying the zv-e1 some days ago! I'm also new to shooting video and curious to know which settings and codec (XAVC S-I ?) you used. Also did you shoot all in 4k 60 fps? What about Picture Profile and stuff? Thank you!

Really good job, I love the shots !!!! did you filmed continuously even during the ceremony? No over heating?
@JasperMeddockProductions
@JasperMeddockProductions Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I had other cameras shooting continuously for the ceremony (a7IV and two GH5s). I haven't shot more than like 10 minutes at a time with it yet but I haven't had it even give an overheating warning yet. Still not sure about in high heat or for real prolonged use.

Man, I would love to chat with you about your camera choices. I sold my FX3 and picked up a ZV-E1 as a “B” camera to a future Panasonic S5IIX - as I’ve always loved Panasonic, but the little Sony is so good - makes me want to wait for the FX3 Mii. If you had to grab one for run and gun corporate video, are you taking the Sony or the Panasonic?

Super good question. Long story short, I've always relied on Pansonic for anything I've had to do that is handheld. From the GH5 to the GH6, I've used them 100% of the time for handheld shooting, and for anything I need that is on a gimbal or I need autofocus for, I've used Sonys, specifically the a7SIII. After now shooting about 6 or 7 different jobs with the ZV-E1, I can confidently say that they have almost entirely caught up in the stabilization department, and I fully trust it shooting handheld. As for long locked off shots, I'll still use my a7SIII or even my a7IV, but I have now put my s5II up for sale as for me it is now redundant gear and it's simpler for me to just shoot all Sony then to try to mix colors, batteries, and lenses. This isn't a knock on Panasonic in any way, it's just a simpler life stick in one ecosystem for me. I do think the next gen of FX3 and a7SIII is going to be INSANE as it'll surely have the IBIS of the ZV-E1 built in which will essentially crush everyone else at that point I think.

Nice. So I´ve been thinking a lot on getting this camera, but in my city is 72 Fahrenheit when is cold, Have you try this camera on 90 to 100 Fahrenheit weather?

I swear I jinxed this camera as I hadn't had any overheating issues with it the whole year and at this last wedding i couldn't get it to stop overheating so I honestly don't even know what to recommend at this point

@@JasperMeddockProductions ufff. Sorry to hear that. I was thinking on getting the tilta fan with the half cage. But I wonder if that would be enough.

@@somethingredcinematography9734 I would have to think it would as I no joke shot like 20 weddings on it as my main handheld camera this summer and it didn't overheat a single time. I'm wondering if it might be a firmware thing or maybe I just got initially lucky. It's hard to tell but I'm gonna test it some more at my office.

@@JasperMeddockProductions sorry to ask again. But how hot was it when it overheat? And how long did you were able to record every time?
@JasperMeddockProductions
@JasperMeddockProductions 7 ай бұрын
No need to apologize, that's what's great about this kinda of forum is that you can hopefully get specific questions answered and I'm happy to help. It wasn't hot at all really, literally like 30 degrees F outside but I was mostly shooting inside all day. I think for some reason once it overheats once it takes a LONGGGG time to get back to normal. I actually just ran it on a tripod today just to re-test it and in a normal room on a tripod it won't overheat at 24 fps and it still will at 4K60 after 18 minutes but that is to be expected. I typically never shoot more than a minute or two at a time with it in 60fps. All summer I shot in 70-95 degree weather and it didn't overheat once.@@somethingredcinematography9734

Still have it, but after using the ZV-E1 for a few weeks now, I think it might be going up for sale real quick here. I'm doing a shoot tomorrow that will let me know for sure one way or the other.

If you're gonna use it for long form "on a tripod for more than 10 minutes at a time" type stuff, I would looks elsewhere. If you're gonna shoot run n' gun, I've used it for like 25+ weddings this year as my handheld camera and not had a single issue with it. I honestly couldn't be happier with it and I've owned and used just about everything that Sony and Panasonic makes.

@@JasperMeddockProductions I plan to use my Sony A7S III with a 24-70mm lens for stationary tripod shots at 4K 24fps to capture the entire 30-minute ceremony. In addition, I'm considering getting the Sony ZV-E1 for all-day run-and-gun shots during the wedding. This setup should help me efficiently film the ceremony edit and other dynamic moments throughout the day. What are your thoughts? The Sony zv-e1 can do tons of shots for a 10 hour wedding day?
@JasperMeddockProductions
@JasperMeddockProductions 8 ай бұрын
@@OneTakeMedias Yeah for sure it can and that sounds like a solid setup. If you see any of the videos I shot this year facebook.com/jaspermeddockproductions/ all of the handheld stuff from May 13th moving forward was all on the ZV-E1
