👁 About this video : Today it's time to take a look at the Audi R8 and what it has to offer! In my opinion this is the best exotic looking supercar you can buy for under $100K! Especially having the gated manual which is very rare to see! The only other cars with that is first generation Lamborghini's and Ferrari's! So this is an exclusive feature that makes the Audi, Lambo or Ferrari more of a fun car to drive! The Audi R8 V8 is more on the affordable side and easy to maintain! While it doesn't have that supercar V10 engine, it's incredible to drive and is quick enough for the car! I love the exterior on the R8's, they have such a nice design and the first generation R8's were produced from 2008-12 and then again from 14-15 for the facelift models. All were available with the manual which is awesome to see! However, the manuals are becoming even more rare and they are hard to find! Compared to the V10 models which are now six figure cars unless they have very high mileage, the V8 is a bargain! While it's not quite as fast, that doesn't matter when you are behind the wheel, so much fun to drive! As far as maintenance goes, they are very affordable and easy to take care of. An oil change is reasonable and while some parts can be more expensive than a "normal" car, they really don't have reliability issues. You can get a much newer R8 compared to a Lamborghini or Ferrari for the same price, those cars you are looking at the year 2000-2006, compared to my 2012. So you get more features and I would say a better daily driving experience since you can daily drive the R8! It's a great exotic to do that, very comfortable and still fairly practical!

I hope you'll be able to keep this car for a long time! Regarding the clutch, you should be good. Even though I've never driven an Audi, from what I hear, the clutches should last quite a while.

I don't have plans on getting rid of this one any time soon! I made that mistake on my last one! But yeah I should be good on the clutch for a long time!

If you want to keep it reliable, don't supercharge it. As soon as you start doing that you introduce way too many potential reliability problems. It isn't worth the $20K you would spend to get it done.

That's a valid point, however I do know owners who haven't had any issues with the supercharger! But that is something to keep in mind with potential problems down the road so if/when I can, I'll do some more research to see if it's worth it!

They really are! It took me about 3 months to find each one I've had so it's a lot of work, but keep searching and you will find the right R8! They are out there!

I always wondered, what happens to the older cars with high mileage (50K+ and beyond). Do most owners hold on to them forever? I am looking at classifieds and I never see any R8s with more than 50-60K miles.

I've seen a few R8's above 50k miles for sale, but yeah most of them for sale have low miles. It's such a great car that people probably just hold onto them, they are easy to maintain and don't really cost much to own aside from the purchase price of course. But I hope to have mine above those miles one day!

The lotus maintenance was like owning a Camry lol, since it had the Camry V6. I did an oil change once a year for like $40 and that was it! I made a video on that when I had the car! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/psialq1mytibZY0.html. The V6 sounded alright, but an aftermarket exhaust would have helped!

At some point I'll switch out the current exhaust it has, it's better then stock, but I'd like it a little louder and definitely lowering it with new wheels! It'll look very cool!

Hi, they said the clutch replacement comes every 10-12k miles on it. Is that the case for you?

NO! That’s not true at all!! Unless you really abuse the clutch and have no idea how to drive…this is my second R8 still with the oem clutch. My previous one had 45k miles on stock clutch and this car is currently at 30k miles. A clutch can last 60-80k miles or more. I’m not sure who told you that, but it’s not accurate!

I haven't seen an Audi R8 V8 in the used market in FL, most for sale are the V10s with paddle shift automatic going for around $140K USD. The V8s will probably cost around 80k to mid 90K if I ever see one for sale in FL.

From all the searching I did when I bought mine this year, the V10 auto's were closer to $100k and the manuals were going for $140-160K! I bought mine out of state because it's such a hard car to find! Maybe start searching the US! I bought mine, had it shipped and then drove it for the first time lol!

It's a toss up for me, but to get a Gallardo for similar price as the R8, it's a 2004-06 VS 08-14!

How far can your audi go until you need to fill it up for gas mike?

I can get anywhere between 300-350 miles depending on how I'm driving. I usually fill it up around 250 or so, but if I let it go to empty, it has a good range with it's 21 gallon tank!

I have a friend with a supercharged V8 and he said it's so worth it! I just have to see if/when that's possible. That would give this car the perfect amount of usable power!

The Audi all day long! I sold my first one for the Corvette C8 and am so glad that didn't work out. I drove a few and they are cool, but nothing like this "old school" feel. I love this way more!

My only reason really is the fact that the supercharger is available as a bolt on kit which is so much easier. Going turbo's is a lot more work then I want to do and maybe even being custom made. VF engineering sells a SC kit, so I feel like that's cheaper and still gets good power!

@@lifeisagambletv It is an old engine keep that in mind, it was a 2014 I believe and it’s not like a Honda Civic engine, it’s much more precise and the tolerances of how it needs to perform are extremely high, that’s how specialty engines are.
