I mean, there was an actual martial artist that could kill bulls by punching them, so I'd say it's within the realm of possibility at least - especially if you targeted one of the weaker areas of the skull. In humans, I'd say the temple or better still the bone behind the eye, but it could be different on lions. Haven't taken comparative anatomy yet, so I'm not sure.
@narutardkyuubi
@narutardkyuubi 3 жыл бұрын
Lions have pretty tough hides and fur, they’ve basically evolved (especially males) to withstand the fangs and claws of fellow African apex predators. Their bones are also pretty sturdy, they’re meant to withstand the strength of their powerful jaw and leg muscles (however, males tire MUCH faster than females due to their larger bodies. In general, females do the hunting unless they’re dealing with very big prey. The males fight each other over the prides). Structurally, their weaknesses lie in the neck. Their body anatomy means they have almost no ability to defend once you get past their fangs and claws (good luck on that part though). A human in good physical shape, with a sturdy spear or good knowledge of leverage, could kill a lion. I’ve heard of certain people who have killed lions by throttling then before as well.

Tsukasa is implied to be a champion martial artist, and with world-class boxing you can actually kill an animal with one straight punch to its head or at the very least knock it out. The only somewhat unrealistic thing is that his hand should've been injured from it without any padding. This is meant to show how modern training/conditioning is just as crazy as modern technology. As is shown by characters later on in the series, master martial artists can perform unbelievable feats because of how they take advantage of human biology. Master level kicks in Taekwondo have been recorded to have the equivalent force of a sledgehammer and can literally smash through a wall, this stuff is very real it's just rare.

Smoking food is one way to preserve food. That is why we have dried fish(although drying fish is a different process) and beef/ pork jerky. Smoking something for a very long time is the same as dehydrating something. We even use dehydration to preserve food in the ISS.

The actual science shown in this anime is pretty solid, if not a bit exaggerated for dramatic effect at times. The science fiction aspect like the petrification and One Pinch One Lion are a bit iffy, but the main theme from episode one was that Senku is going to defeat fantasy with science, so I am looking forward to see how they tackle the more “anime” portions of the show.

Regarding your statement on how lions hunted in the anime compared to now, packs may have just developed a different sense of priority of leadership during hunting because not only were the original lions inside of a zoo their whole lives, but it's been 3700 years and with different prey in every century, these factors most likely had an impact on development.

@richardngo2561
@richardngo2561 3 жыл бұрын
@@catfan913 i assume you mean the dog which suika played with using a piece of “dogtail millet”, of course some parts of the anime are similar to our current world, for example despite it being 3700 years the primitive village speaks perfect japanese though in the past no language has really stayed the same for much longer than a millennium. The dog is another example of showing something the viewers are familiar with, I’m not saying dr stone is a world in which everything is perfectly thought out and has been factually corrected, but it has the potential for hidden meanings such as speculated evolution. Though anything that has happened is relevant to modern society in order to satisfy the viewers.

One note about smoking that you didn't touch on that I think is important in relation to food preservation. The process can also dry out the surface of the meat and then in the old days they also would pack smoked things salt barrels to further remove liquid and create a reletively inhospitable environment for bacteria colonization. Yeah there's two different types of smoke and dry smoking wet smoke if you want to smoke something to preserve it you really got to thin it out since any moisture although now sterilize will create an environment for more microbes to grow that's why most jerky is thin as hell because you can't really call it a preserved meat unless the moisture is completely dissipated out of the product

The lions were not hunting, they were eliminating a threat in their territory, which is what the males do. The reason female lions hunt is because they are attacking easy and consistent prey. Male lions certainly do not just sit around and do nothing, they just only bother when there is actual danger to their territory or group.

Smoke doesn't preserve food on its own, generally the process of smoking something involves salt. Even then, the process is only semi-perfect. Sausage came around because smoked meat still grows a relatively harmless white moss in more humid climate. The casing generally just gets peeled off in this case and the salted meat underneath is still good to go, since it hasn't been exposed to open air. A more modern practice has actually been to seed certain types of harmless bacteria that kill of more harmful kinds. (My dad's a biochemist who does this crap for 8 hours every other week)

@PrometheusEpimetheus
@PrometheusEpimetheus 3 жыл бұрын
@@seekyunbounded9273 you can buy little packets of bacterial powder (ours is colored pink), thankfully the process is not terribly involved. With sausage you simply mix it in with the ground meat. After cooking whenever you leave it out in room temperature the bacteria should sort themselves out. I'm not entirely sure for processes like bacon or uncut meat, but I imagine you can rub it in like a steak. The major thing is going to be how much heat you put it under at once while smoking, but even then you can use standard procedures. Just don't go over whatever recommended temp you're working with is.

2 years late but I would say the most inaccurate thing in this show is just the absurd strength or abilities the characters have

5:16 you accidentally said CaCl3 (Calcium Tricloride) instead of CaCO3 (Calcium Carbonate). I knew what you meant to say but it was wrong never the less.

Male lions do hunt just not with the lionesses. So yes they don’t hunt in packs but they will hunt especially when they are no longer in a pride. They will starve to death if they were unable to hunt. But again it’s anime.

I thought so, too, at the lion part. I guess the lion patriarchy got hit by gender equality pretty severly in all these years! 😂

This is how lions work in the wild, these lions in the show were not hunting they were fighting for territory, which is what the males do.

people in the past have been preserving food with salt and smoke, kzfaq.info?search_query=smoke+preserving+meat so you're partially correct and probably not sure other cultures are doing this for a very long time. This is widely done in countries with majority of the weather is cold. I guess an an EE your facts are probably more accurate to your field.
