The fact that a cruise ship that could knock over an oil platform is currently vibing its way around the world frightens me

I dont know how and why but seeing a ship sinking is sad.

The one with Lake Superior really sticks with me. When I was younger, my dad had a mix tape of songs that he would play in the car. I was captivated by one in particular: 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' by Gordon Lightfoot. It tells the story of a Great Lakes freighter that sank during a shipmemt of iron ore out of Wisconsin. They were about 15 miles away from Whitefish Bay when the harsh waves hit them. 29 died in the wreck on that November 10th. That struck a huge chord with me as November 10th is my birthday. It's a stretch to think that it'a an actual ghostly ship in the video, let alone the apparition of the Edmund Fitzgerald, but it's a fascinating thought.

I find it absolutely amazing how governments and companies openly just abandon ships to drift into the ocean without any repercussions.

I remember all the creepy footage being shown of the Kas 2 and the look of confusion on the coast guard and reporters because it was filmed lived when they found her, as a 7 year old it scared the hell out of me And it Still does, and if you ask an Australian about it they will almost always get goosebumps and just stare at you.

Personal story of mine: on the last day of a vacation, I saw a boat almost sank. It was tied to the dock, so it was still visible in most places. It was all rusty and looked abandoned though. It looked a bit like a tugboat and a fishing boat at the same time. It was down in Ocean city, Maryland for reference

I remember seeing a decently sized abandoned twin sail sailboat resting on a sandbar in FL after a huge hurricane a few years ago. My dad and i couldn't get close enough to check it out, as the tide was low and he didn't want to risk beaching his own boat. According to my dad, it rested there for about a year after the hurricane hit, and no one's come to claim it. I wonder it it's still there?

The Mary Cleste was taken by another ship that found her in her abandoned state. However, there was a huge fog that night and the Celeste was lost. Come morning, the first ship found the Celeste only to find the crew members they had put on board to sail it back to the harbor had vanished just like her original crew. They left the Celeste to rot on the water and got as far away as they could.

I stayed at a resort in (if I remember correctly) Cancun where just off the beach was a giant tanker / cargo ship that had run aground. Was super cool! Just watching the waves crash into the ship or over it. As a youth it just fascinated me.. you don't normally see that. I guess it acted as a kinda reef.. you could also pay to dive around it

When I was younger, my family went to a beach and in the water there was a pirate ship in the distance. I told my family they saw it too, but for some reason when some of the people stared the ship was and it seems that the other people didn’t see the ship, I also didn’t see anyone film the ship. (just a story I wanted tell about because this video is about ships).

@15:30 the going theory is that there was a flash fire due to leaking alcohol barrels which caused a lot of smoke and forced the crew to abandon the ship because they thought it was on fire. It has been proven that a flash fire of moonshine alcohol, like the type that was on the ship, could have leaked out, flashed up due to the candles on the ship, and then went out without burning anything on the ship. They found several empty barrels which support this theory.

The Mary Celeste mystery, least as far as why it was abandoned, has primarily been solved. See the hold was full of alcohol in barrels.. well.. when one of those barrels leaks, it fills that hold with vapors which can very easily be ignited. MY belief is, the captain and crew found a leaking barrel and strong vapors in a locked down Hold and decided to abandon ship and leave holds hatches open so it could air out. They tied a line to the ship and used a smaller boat , a skiff perhaps , to tow behind the Mary Celeste for a few hours while it aired out. An inconvenience, sure.. BUT it would adhere to safety protocols and it would've been responsible captaincy. However.. I think bad weather intervened or perhaps the tow line simply broke and they couldn't catch up to it.. but both scenarios are more plausible than any concocted theory so far.

The thumbnail was just a USA Navy ship from worldwar 2, Korean War, and Vietnam War. They sunk it 7 months ago in the pacific

One guy spent nearly 15 months adrift after him and his friend got washed away on their small fishing boat in a freak storm and after several months of surviving drinking turtle blood and eating raw fish one of the 2 friends stopped eating he'd had enough and thought he'd rather not suffer on after about 10 months and who can blame him and the second guy eventually washed up on a small island and was rescued by fisherman. I can't think of a worse nightmare happening out of the blue like that one minute you're shark fishing then your life's turned upside down lost for what probably felt like an eternity with little hope of rescue.

One theory is on the marie caleste is they abandoned by the crew in a hurry in the lifeboat because part of the cargo was karasine or something like that and they thought it was leaking with high chances of going on fire or exploding, I imagine they didn't intend to abandoned ship completely but instead stay attached by rope at safe distance and the rope came loose and they were lost to the sea.
