Semana Santa (Holy Week or Easter Week) is known as the ultra-high season for visiting Antigua Guatemala: people flock here from all over the country, hotel prices can be much higher than usual and many accommodation options book out well in advance.
For travellers, the many religious processions that occur throughout the city during Holy Week (and the crazy atmosphere that accompanies them!) are the main draw.
