Using it since last November. Brilliant love it. I don’t play more than twice a week, but in Los Angeles there are very few places to get a sharpen and we play late- it is still keeping my edges really sharp.

Having some experience sharpening / forging knives and the like, I noticed you worked the blade from rear to front and then flipped it and worked front to rear on the same skate’s adjacent “cut” if you will. Have you noticed any improved performance by flipping the skate and running the sharpener in the same direction (rear to front in this case)?

Not entirely clear if it will get me out of a pinch, because sometimes I get into a pinch, and I need to get out of the pinch, because the pinch is a pain in my arse. So, would be great if you could clarify re. the pinch situation.

I was surprised on the amount of metal shavings that came out. I see these hand held deals more of a touch up than a true sharpening. But this looks like it is doing some sharpening. I don't like the one side at a thing though. Great point for outdoor skating.

I feel a lot of resistance when I do mine. Am I not applying pressure where it needs to be applied? Do I apply pressure. I am definitely not making the smooth passes like you do.

I first heard of these in your Pond Hockey Essentials video awhile back, but wasn't 100% convinced until I saw this one. Living in Minnesota, this definitely looks like a good investment going into ODR season. Do you know of any reason why a Blade Barber wouldn't work on goalie skates?

The reviews on amazon show that the A&R Re-edger has significantly better feedback. Take that however you want, but the blade barber is $38 and has only 50% 5-star ratings, compared to the AR re-edger at $14 with 75% 5-star ratings.... I went with the A&R

my question is, does this device do anything to the radius of the skate blade, or is that more of a user error type of thing if the radius is changed?
@bladebarber5841
@bladebarber5841 4 жыл бұрын
It does not change the radius or profile. Even user error could not do it, you’d have to intentionally and repeatedly just sharpen a small part of the blade instead of the whole length.

@@danielsmedley3195 sure but in the video he his gets the heel and toe where you need that for pushing of and some turns absolutely. The last inch or less he didn't do that you commented about has 0 effect on the ice, 0. When you lose an edge on the ice 99.9% of the time where it effects your skating where is it? Not the last bit of heel or toe, which is why he didn't hit those spots. I'm guessing you're a good player, you know you don't use the tips, I know you do. Watch a high caliber skater, mcdavid, Crosby, Mac..... never on the tip of the heel or toe, for any reason.
