I completely understand cleaning without the kids when the mess is too big, deep and wide for them to handle. Due to schedules, my house is a mess. I've been working on laundry and trying to clean my kitchen while listening to you.

The decluttering will help you so much! Less stuff = less of a mess! If you can get the kids involved too, they get to pick some toys they give away to children who have less and that will make them feel good about it. Put some toys in bins in the basement, if they haven't asked for them in a month, just donate them.

I've never had children. But, my husband and I can make as much clutter just by ourselves. I was so overwhelmed. I watched your video and instantly I was back in track. Cleaning and De cluttering for years was a hobby for me...but depression kills a persons spirit. Thank you.

I’m always so impressed with your ability to rally and get it done! That’s something I’m still working on. I suffered from major clinical depression for most of my life until I had TMS (Transcranial magnetic stimulation) treatments. I haven’t had a major depression episode in almost 2 years! I recommend it to everyone who suffers from major clinical depression. Now I just have to unlearn a lifetime of bad habits created by depression🙄 I’m working on it!
@MightyMama
@MightyMama 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Margaret! Thank you for sharing that TMS with me. I have never heard of this before. I will definitely look into this. Honestly, my depression has been at bay lately. I have been doing some hard self healing work from past trauma and I really believe it is working. A combination of that and being in my 40s has brought me to a much more positive mindset and I am just running with it each day. Praying that the gloom and doom doesn't creep it's ugly head. One day at a time! But yes I can relate to the bad habits and it is very hard to change those and most importantly stay consistent with the good ones! It's all a journey of living with mental illness. As long as we don't give up and try to do our best each day! I will be praying for you! Thank you for being here!🙏🏻💪🏻🤎

Sometimes family is more important than a clean house . My fiancé was just diagnosed with cancer and my home went on the back burner.

Thank you girl! Exactly! E.X.A.C.T.L.Y!!! I am sorry to hear of his diagnosis. I worked as CNA at University of Chicago Hospitals and I know first hand the dealings of battling Cancer. Please let me know anyway I can help! My best advice is to keep him in a positive mental state (even though it is super difficult considering the situation) but I have seen so many of my patients decline due to poor mental state and those who stayed in good spirits thrived and had much more success in their treatment. Also, fatten him up! Get him any food he wants because at some point his appetite will decrease and he will need the fat to sustain the treatments. I will be praying for you guys. I wish I had his and your name. Please drop it here if you don't mind so I can pray with your names. Stay Mighty and God bless! Always here for you girl! xo 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎

Hey Laura! Wow. I see everyone has an opinion. Here you are, helping yourself and others, and these entitled people are so toxic they dont realize how ungrateful they are. Their depression is self inflicted because of their own toxicity and judgment. Your and my depression is different. We try to see the good and positive and that's why they don't understand how things get out of hand. Everyone has advice. Don't even give it another second of your time. I can't express enough how absolutely helpful and motivational you are to me, and I suspect to a lot of other people. I look for your videos every Saturday morning and it helps me get through the mental and physical mess. Thank you. For being here, thank you. 🧡

Hello my Beautiful friend llza! I appreciated you more than you will ever know! And yes girl that is exactly it! You are so right when you said everyone's depression is different and how we deal is also different. That is why I came out here about my depression and anxiety so that I can learn from others and hopefully find some solutions for myself but also help others know they are not alone. I am so happy to know that my videos do help you but I am also sorry that I am so inconsistent with my postings. I am truly working on this. Inconsistency is one of those bad habits I have developed through my depression. I am working hard at breaking this and also praying no more unexpected unfortunate life events occur for a while. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Keep seeking the positive in all people and things and you will continue to conquer your depression that is the root of all evil! God bless your beautiful soul! xo Stay Mighty!🤎🤎💪🏻💪🏻🦋🦋🙏🏻🙏🏻

thank you for this video. I am a stay at home mom that has a child who regularly needs surgery. This week I have spent most of my week with him at the children's hospital while my husband and daughter stayed at home so he could still go to work. It has been really rough on our family and now we are playing catch up . I saw this video and it helped me to realize just how many people are dealing with the same kind of thing .

I watched this while cleaning my bedroom for my weekend (we have Friday and Sat off instead of Sunday), so I was happy to have my room refreshed. On a different note, the only thing I would note is that if Mr 4yo doesn't have to clean his big messes, then he doesn't really have any consequences for not following the rules when momma is stressed and busy. That's what eventually leads to him arguing with his girlfriend because the house is a disaster and she isn't cleaning it, when he is equally part of the mess. Maybe corral his toys, but after you're done cleaning, have him put away things properly to teach him that he is still responsible no matter how stressed you are or how bad it got. And don't let you guilt yourself into thinking because you didn't keep on him at the time that it's your punishment to clean up after him. He's old enough to know that he should have put them away.

Laura you are amazing! I wish we had KZfaq when my kids were younger! Something I did with the kids toys was have a smaller stash as Living Room toys and the rest went in their bedrooms. You might want to put half of the trucks,cars,etc in the attic and when the kids say they are bored have them switched out with the attic toys. It makes for less to clean on a daily basis. I also had my kids pick 10 toys to donate when new thinks come in. Hope this helps some.

I have cluttered the heck out of my spare bedroom, and every time I'd go upstairs, I'd get more and more overwhelmed, anxious, and depressed about it! The living room looks great! Also, I enjoy your talking as it is a part of your process, which interests me and is one of the reasons I was attracted to your videos. About grief- it is so personal and I have experienced it in waves so I can appreciate that it derails normal expectations and habits. Under those circumstances, it seemed to me that not much competes with the loss except my family and their immediate priority needs of me. Plenty fine to be patient with yourself.

One more thing...when the mess gets out of control I would have the kids race who could pick up the most toys. Counting out loud is learning time too! Then cleaning is a game. I would have the kids help me fold and put away clothes and made them feel important by helping me. I have OCD and I had to just choose to teach them how and accept how the smaller ones folded. I would teach them every time and eventually they could do it themselves. I had to just learn to leave them poorly folded for a while so that they felt proud of themselves. I struggle with depression even still with my children gone and your videos help me be motivated. I love the talking parts!!!

I am not a parent, so feel free to laugh me right out of the room, but I learn allot from my sister and her small children. She keeps lock top labeled bins on a shelf in a separate room that contain the various small toys and she rotates them. Perhaps you could try something similar where your kids can trade in a bin of one type of small toy for a different bin, so they're essentially paying for the new bin with the toys they picked up to earn it?

That is a real transformation! Great work! The only thing I could say about the 4 year old and toys and clean up is that less is more. Maybe see what he loves the best of three toys. Then set three bins of those toys out on the shelf in the living room (train,legos, etc) and put the rest in deep storage. It will make it way easier for you and for him to clean up and will reduce those reminders and power struggles. If he asks about other toys, ask him which he wants to switch out eg. Put the Lego’s in storage and take the puzzles out from deep storage so that you only have three options on the shelves at any time. Totally agree with the play kitchen to move to the kids room. You could reduce that too. Think of keeping one of those play pieces and donating the others. Reducing the stuff makes it easier for you and your kids and mental health of the family as a whole.

I really needed this video today. My son has the flu and I am feeling super unmotivated. But we have company coming in a few days so I can’t let up right now. Thx for the help! So sorry for your loss.

Thank you for the motivation 😀cleaning is my therapy too😊Thanks for praying! That’s Awesome! Pray for my 25yr old son. Autistic and high functioning and wants a girlfriend and to get married someday. God will have to do it because my son is very shy and has anxiety talking to people 😬Thanks for being you and for being real!

I am a neat freak and somehow I ended up with SIX children who are not. When they were little I could go through regularly and make sure rooms were neat and clean. But, oh my goodness, now that they are teens and young adults, the struggle is real!
