Thank you so much for this practice vlog! I'm relearning this particular piece at the tender age of 65, having last played it 44 years ago! I'm finding it more of a technical challenge now than I did way back then, and your practice tips make so much sense and have helped me tremendously! 😊

The best piano lesson I will ever have, unless you give more! Your explanations increase the pleasure and desire to listen to you, and hearing you practice is priceless! I don't know yet if I will ever play this piece, which is very difficult as you said, but it makes me want to redouble my efforts to progress in my practice, and to be able to feel the music in its smallest details while playing it, as you do so incredibly...

Thankyou for your in - depth video! Your obvious enthusiasm for this piece radiates throughout, and it is spell- binding. I presume that, because the composer was himself a concert pianist, the complexity of the notes always feels pianistic ( unlike the Grieg piano concerto, which I’ve heard is totally un-pianistic. The technical complexities are all over the composition, and many moods are encapsulated within it. This teaching blog is just fabulous! 😀

Of course, everything you play is underpinned by your teaching- I feel that we get double the musical intellect and a completely holistic approach, if you get my meaning. R.❤

Very enlightening video! That piece is really difficult to play, technically and in terms of interpretation, and you have been a huge help to everyone who wants to play it (or even listen to it more consciously). I just want to point out that, in the 2nd half of that "tricky and frightnening" 😅part (bars 130-137), although it is really necessary to *_practice_* very rhythmically a tempo (no rush), Schumann, with no mercy on us, actually calls for "nach und nach immer schneller", i.e. faster and faster (hectic). Florestan style... Now folks, 1.600 views and 88 likes? What is wrong with you?!?!

Thanks for this candid and friendly approach to sharing your practice sessions. This brings inspiration. Quick question: when learning a new piece, at what point do you leave the score and focus only on looking at your fingers? Do you strive to memorize the piece as early as possible in the process?
Жыл бұрын
Some of the memorizing happens automatically, but I actually try to memorize hard passages as quickly as possible in order to focus on the other aspects - musical, technical etc in an easier way. Thanks so much for watching!

This piece is out of reach for me, but the examples of how to express the musical qualities are really useful.

Love your videos. Your explanations are concise and can be understood intellectually. I try to follow your advice on tackling difficult passages with required technical exercises that would help. These are gems. Thank you. I wonder if you could do a tutorial on Mendelssohn Op 19 No. 1 or Op 30 No. 1 ?
