Same thing is true today for China and Russia. All Russian manufacturing is in the west close to Europe and Chinese manufacturing is on their east coast vulnerable to sea attacks by subs, while the US has infrastructure throughout the country making manufacturing possible on both coasts and the middle.

I highly doubt he could have "won". I mean, he might have won in Europe but do you imagine him stopping there? I don't see any successful conclusion without him eventually fighting Russia, Japan and the US. He was too much of a megalomaniac. Now maybe if he took them on one at a time, but eventually any remaining powers have to recognize he will break his word to anyone as soon as it suits him to do so. So whatever powers remain would ultimately join forces if for no other reason than to defeat him.

They were never high. the only way Germany could have achieced a quick victory against Russia is if they surrender. They could not have gained Moscow due to not doing Halders strategy, Stalingrad was virtually unwinnable even if Germany had more men there. Germany NEVER could have even made a victory, let alone a quick one against the soviets. Kursk was unwinnable too due to the Soviets having 5 times as many soldiers and good fortifications, and Germany usually only won battles against the soviets when they werent ready, but at Kursk they were. Germany was doomed

By the time the Battle of Kursk came along, the war was already on the Soviet's side.

Some histirians say turning point was as early as August 41. The Russian resistance was much more than was anticipated and the Germans were starting to fall behind schedule. Definitely by the start of Kursk there was no way German was going to defeat the Soviet Union.

A quick victory in Russia is impossible.

It seems he became so confident because of his easy victories over Poland , France and others and because he actually wiped out the entire western Russian army down to less than 600 tanks in Moscow, destroyed the entire Russian airforce and it's economy all within 3 months. Japan had alot of success at that time as well so he probably assumed Japan could hold off the US long enough for him to finish Russia. He did not see lend lease helping Russia rebiuld so many army's and tanks. Then the Germany first policy began to wipe out the German economy hammering oil supplies and resources.. Then the US landing an entire army in Africa during Stalingrad didn't help much.

I respectfully disagree. The US Army activated all National Guard and Reserve units after the fall of France. Intensive training was initiated and men who could lead were sent to officer and NCO training programs. In early Pacific Battles mostly prewar us troops usually out fought the Japanese.

You realize the invasion of Soviet Union was NEVER about oil or any other resource? The Germans had enough resources of their own. Germany invaded because it was becoming quite clear that the Allied powers were funding Soviet's army into a massive offensive force to take advantage of the weakened countries due to the prolonged war that Churchill the warmonger wanted so badly. Germans stationed at East Prussia could clearly see a massive force of Red Army soldiers amassing at the border in preparations for their invasion of Germany and Western Europe. The allied powers knew the full extent of Soviet Union's intention to invade and conquer the weakened Western European states and it was coming (if as Stalin had hoped) as Germany invaded Britain or not, either way they were going to invade Germany. You really oughta listen to his speeches, you would understand why he invaded Soviet Union and sent peace offers to Britain beforehand to end their unnecessary war and stand with Germany against the Soviet menace, and not some propagandist piece on KZfaq who gets his information from the already questionable history told by the victors of WWII.

Rommel is a very over rated general he was a good front line commander i ww1 and a good tank commander in the invasion of france but he hade a very big ego and saw him self as the greatest commander in the world he underestameted the britsh and he over estameted his own forces capablitis and made alot if big mistakes that cost him the african campaine

I think it has more to do with Russia being so big, requiring long supply lines and longer to get to the cities. Otherwise it wouldn't have taken so long and they'd be done before winter came
