I won a goldfish at the fair when I was around 7/8. We didn't actually have anywhere to keep it but I really wanted one so my grandad agreed to keep it in his tank so I'd still get to see it because we visited a lot. That fish lived for years and grew fairly large, it was wild 😂

My family always bought "feeder fish" every year to throw in our ponds. Out of 2 dozen every year only like 3-7 of them survived the season but two of those suckers lived 6 and 7 years old. They even survived a pump short-circuit a few yrs i that nearly killed my dad when he tried to reach in an pick one of them out. They only died a few years later when we had the coldest and longest winter our state ever saw and the pond froze almost completely solid. They died from lack of oxygen in the water that was still liquid. It was too deep for us to pick through but we were all sad when we saw their dead bodies after the thaw. Carp are strong.

I had a 55 gallon fresh water tank for about 8 years, and I had angel fish, puffer fish, shrimp, blue lobsters, a bunch of random tetras, and my favorite fish, a pleco (algae eater) The puffer fish brought ich to my tank, which killed all but 1 angel fish, 2 tetra, and the algae eater (RIP Larry the Lobster). When I bought the algae eater it was about an inch long, and after 8 years, it was over 17 inches long and looked like a water dragon. Then I found him floating belly up in my tank, and he was the last of the fish, so I sold the tank after 8 years. :( Also shoutout to r/aquariums for teaching me so much useful information

Toilets do not lead to rivers and lakes, sewage goes to treatment plants where its filtered and treated and fish cannot reach waterways though them. As for fish size, I had a goldfish in a tropical tank and that thing grew like mad and also ate all the small fish in the tank but it eventually met its end when the freshwater blue lobster in the tank finally got hold of it

You don't explain how flushing a fish into a sanitary sewage system that most commonly goes to a treatment plant for processing & filtering of solid waste allows for the fish to be in a waterway. It is illegal to directly dump a human waste system into a public creek, lake, wash or any other ways that holds or conveys fresh or salt water without treating to safe levels first.

Snakehead are quite a delicacy in Asia. Roast it till it becomes dry and blsck and it can be kept for a long time It's used to make spicy mixture with chilli and other fermented fish or soy beans You can heat uo roasted fish and eat it directly. Most asian countries kinda survived off it for centuries

My goldfish lived 6 years and just recently died- was a fair fish and the other one we got from fair died next day from stress, the one before that lived 4 years (Beta) and my first goldfish lived 3 or 4 years too- I’m a pretty good fish mama when it comes to tanks 😊

"Flushing your dead goldfish down the toilet is doing more harm than you ever realized!" How do the corpses come back to life? Are we just not making sure they're dead? They're playing fish-possum? Could people mitigate this by poking a presumptively deceased goldfish with a toothpick to make sure it's dead? Let's never discount the importance of making sure.

A Goldfish will not survive sewage treatment, these fish were either released by negligent pet owners or survivors of illegal bait use, no way possible a Goldfish is going to make it through a sewage treatment plant even if it survived the trip through the pipes.

So, I have two goldfish in a 55 gal aquarium. There comet fish and can grow to 24" with regular water changes (twice a week) and changing there oversized filter regularly. These third hand fish have been in my care for 3 years and I was told they were 2 when I got them they have gone from about 2.5-3" to more like 8"now. So it's possible just not very easy. Plecos and lion fish are also a big problem

We had a goldfish growing up that ate all the other different type of fish in our tank. Except for the algae eater. But he was almost the size of a 10year olds fish. After he ate all the other fish. You could put your finger tip in the water and he would tried to nibble on it.

In Wisconsin it's the same thing with gobies. I'm not sure if they're native to the bay of Green Bay and the great lakes, but they're not native to the regular lakes. Basically what the gobies do is eat the eggs of all the native fish.
