It’s coming along pretty well. I’ve kind of hit a standstill where I can conversarte with just about anyone, but don’t know how to continue to improve. I live in Kansas and there are some Latinos, and try to talk to them in Spanish when I can. I traveled to Chile this summer cause my cousin actually lives there and it was great. I’d like to go to Colombia sometime next year and live there for a few months. You speak better than me though; what are your tips for continuing to improve after you have a good foundation?
6 жыл бұрын
Lucky! I wanna go to Medellín, Colombia so bad. My uncle is from there and he went there with his family this past summer. I've been in your situation before. It was really frustrating. To get out of that slump, I started to read books in Spanish to expand my vocabulary. I listened to Podcasts and shows about thins that I had never talked about before. I picked a dialect to focus on. (That helped me to pick up a different accent, and learn some slang words as well as regular words and phrases.) I would highly recommend that you review all that you have learned to make sure that you have it all down and are not rusty. Also keep talking to Spanish speakers at every opportunity. If you are not doing it already, I would even recommend self talk. I have a video that speaks about it, but basically you talk yourself through your day. It'll help expose your weak. I have so many learning tips, and advice on this channel. Feel free to check them out.

Totally true that about the S. Is so subtle for us that native speakers won't even notice we do it. Is actually wrong in terms of grammsr and stuffs, and you won't find a book that tells you those details, but that's the real spoken spanish. And in fact, The S-H-Mute, is a natural evolution of the sounds. You might find this pattern in totally unrelated languages as well, which grammsr is set before these phenomena occur.

Hey Rickie! I hope you can respond but, I am a 15 year old young man and I recently just started trying to teach myself spanish since this past summer. I started by listening to alot of music in spanish(bachata es mi tipo favorito de música) and watching lots of novelas and got back into soccer(soccer was actually my first sport). But basically i wanted to ask if you would have any suggestions or tips to help me learn spanish. I know lots of words and i can speak really well i just struggle to actually think fluently while i speak and i struggle with some of the grammar sometimes. I can understand native speakers pretty well also but sometimes i do struggle while watching a novela or listening to some music. I am a sophomore in high school so i don't really have the time to study the language as much as i want to, but i would really appreciate some suggestions and tips.Thank you for your time man, God bless!

Hola! i always respond to everyone (unless KZfaq doesn't notify me of a comment) so no worries. Congrats on making it this far bro. All of my recommendations can be found on my other videos, So i would say check them out, because there are so many ways to learn. (that i used). You Do actually have the time to put in. I was in your situation at your age, and i just made everything into Spanish. I learned vocab constantly. like instead of reading a book, i would read the Spanish-English Dictionary. I would speak to my Spanish speaking friends or family as much as possible. I was constantly thinking of how to say things in Spanish, and if i did not know, I would look it up and write it down. In my opinion, the best way to think in Spanish, is to simply think in Spanish. Just stop translating to/from English and focus on the Spanish that you know. if you don't know something, then talk around the subject. you can do it bro. Check out the other videos on my page, and I'm sure that they will help you. Where there is a will there is a way.

Could you do a vid on vosotros, tú, ustedes because tbh i get them mixed up and how to conjugate them can anyone help ?
6 жыл бұрын
I actually never ever planned on teaching vosotros. I hate it, and find it useless, but I know it so i'll tell you about it. Tú: It is the informal singular version of "you" almost always ends with "s" when conjugated. Usted: It is the formal singular version of "you" has the same endings as Él and ella. Vosotros*: Is only used in Spain. It is the informal way of saying you guys. When you conjugate, it is practically the same thing as the tú form, except you add and "is" to the end of it. most of the time. More specifically (áis, éis, or ís). Ustedes: means you guys informally in the rest of the world, but in Spain, it means You guys, but in a formal way, so don't say it to your friends because they will laugh or make fun of you.

ricki... im from PR... and what you are saying is true and its good that you explain that this happens... but I think its counter productive to TEACH this way. I mean.. the best thing in spanish its that the correct pronunciation follow the correct spelling....

Thanks for your feedback. Here is my logic on teaching the varying accents. 1. In School, they only teach "proper" Spain Spanish. This means that when someone thinks that they learned Spanish, but then they go to a country where there are different characteristics, they get confused and don't understand that dialect, because in the Caribbean and Latin America, they speak very differently than those that live in Spain. 2. Some of my followers want to move to the Caribbean and Latin America. I want them to be able to fit in and speak without their American accent if they so choose. My content caters to those who think outside of the box and are really passionate and want to really get into Spanish language and culture. Me sigues? Thanks for checking out my content an for your comment. Bendiciones : )

I sometimes hear the letter s as a /z/ especially from Mexicans
6 жыл бұрын
Somewhat yes. that is true. Like in words like abismo, atletismo and things like that.
@ThePassingVoid
@ThePassingVoid 6 жыл бұрын
I heard that if s is followed by m, n, or l it is pronounced /z/ always, but in that position, boricuas and Dominicans don't pronounce the s, so mismo sounds like mimo, but when I hear Spanish online I hear s pronounced like a z a lot like in vives, vacaciones, mismo, isla, etc but sometimes I hear the same words without the z sound.
6 жыл бұрын
It honestly depends on the speaker. Good observation though. I typically only hear the z sound from Mexicans. I haven't heard it elsewhere.

Creo que no deberías enseñar a pronunciar mal las palabras aunque lo hagan en algunos países.
6 жыл бұрын
shadizaar Yo enseño todos los aspectos del español porque: 1. quiero que mi estudiantes entiendan todos los acentos. Aún si deciden no hablar así, podrán reconocer el acento y entender lo que dice la persona. 2. Usted dice que esas palabras se pronuncian mal, pero no estoy de acuerdo. Se pronuncian de una manera distinta al acento neutro de la RAE, pero no significa que es incorrecto o mal. Todo el mundo tiene su dialecto.
@hugofernunez
@hugofernunez 6 жыл бұрын
Esa fue una buena justificación porque de una u otra forma todos tenemos un acento diferente y lo más importante es aprender a reconocer lo que se dice detrás de un acento
6 жыл бұрын
Exacto. No iba a aprender el acento Dominicano porque alguien me dijo que los dominicanos hablaban mal, pero oí el acento y noté que no era así. Además es interesante ver como el español de España ha transformado a través del tiempo en lugares como el caribe (y Sud América).
@YukiKonan
@YukiKonan 6 жыл бұрын
No existe un dialecto más correcto que otro en el español. La RAE acepta por igual a todos los acentos.
