To add: that your husband’s life will keep going on exactly as it was before the baby even though your life feels like it’s barely holding itself together.

Needed to watch this. I have a 2 month old baby and I’ve never struggled or felt so mentally over than I do now. I miss my old life so much… I also feel super resentful towards my husbands “easier way out”, lack of change to his body, hormones and stability overall. It sucks.

have someone or your husband care for the baby while you get a hot shower in or get to eat in peace. Or take a walk around/quick grocery run. Little things.

It does suck!! Right there with you, only started to accept and enjoy after 18months but I look back and appreciate that journey anyway. You survive while you're in it, and let yourself adjust as slow as needed. OK to feel down, but call it what it is- post parturition blues. Still so much stress on your mind and body. It IS hard. But we get through each day to see the next, and make little steps of progress.

My first baby was my easiest baby which made it harder when my second baby came being the opposite 😅 . It is always an adjustment which every new child . I think if more women thought of motherhood an upgrade , they would not have to feel like they lost themselves.❤

I have 8 kids, one set of twins, 2 of the 8 are autistic. The transformation of our identities from “wife and ____” to “wife & mother” is hard. Yeah, it’s good advice to both mom and dad, “your wife will likely resent you for something at some point, because mothering is hard: help her cherish her new job, and help take the edge off.” Yeah, someone just told me the antidote to resent is cherish, so I’m praying and working on an attitude change, because I’ve carried some resentments for a while, but didn’t realize that was what I was doing. Cool advice - it’s very real. But it’s like a butterfly: no going back.

Wish somebody told me teething was going to be more sleep depriving and difficult than newborn stage. My daughter was a dream as a newborn sure i was up every 3 hours but not even fully awake a poop would wake her up it was just clean feed sleep and repeat. I got more sleep then than i do now that she is 5 months pushing 6 months and teething. She has become a little gremlin 😢 my son wasnt this bad cause he found lots of relief with his binky but she hates binkys of all kinds the nights have been terrible ill be awake from 1am-5:30 am just rocking feeding over and over again just to put her down and have her cry and turn immediately. Ive gone from i dont really like coffee to it being what i most look forward to each day.

This is what I love most about the culture in my country. In most tribes/ethnic groups in my country, new mothers have to be taken care of by their mothers or another family member for the first 3 months after child birth. To be honest, new mothers are usually the most beautiful they have been in years because all they do is breastfeed their baby and get enough rest. Some of my collegues looked the best they had looked in years because they got maternity leave and didn't work and were still being taken care of at home : I seriously don't know how women without such help cope.

Thank you so much for this. We are having our first little potato this December and Im quite anxious about labor/pain and aftermath of pregnancy. It’s nice to hear the positive side of things while also hearing the not so pretty things. The little family I had here has now moved further so I only have my man here with some of his family and it’s HARD emotionally and mentally for me. I have days where I’m like what did I get myself into and I have days where this moment is one of the greatest I’ve ever experienced in life. This is definitely a journey of good and the bad but your videos give such encouragement and understanding that the good for me outweighs the bad by a long shot. God bless you and your family Anna❤🫶🏾🙏🏾 you’re such a godsend girlie

Breastfeeding needs to be discussed more! I felt so jipped. Lack of knowledge and support was huge when things went wrong. I am much more at peace with my second baby coming knowing I can stop whenever I want... Regardless of what everyone else says.

I didn’t expect to be so sleep deprived in the first 2 weeks and I’m used to not sleeping (intensive care, ER etc). I’ve slept 5 hours in 5 days. Also I never expected to adapt, my 2 months-old still wakes up every 1-2 hours, but I manage to fall asleep in a second.

Depends on the baby honestly. My first slept like shxt until he was abt 3 years. My 2nd slept well right from the start and now almost a year old, she still sleeps well.I feel much more rested than first time around. my first hit all regressions and they were so hard but this baby skipped all. I feel blessed

Ladies, having kids is like having a wonderful, amazing curse, Lol. It sucks but it is so rewarding it's so exhausting, but yet so peaceful when you see them sleeping. I love playing with my baby and being there for him, but at the end of the night, I lay down and say, "I am glad it's nighttime and the day is over," lol

Haven't heard truer words about that topic ever. Especially the last part. I wanna hug you rn.❤ Nothing to add here. Just wanna say: You rock! And I hope your husband appreciates you and what you been doing. It's not easy on him either, but all men or partners that are on the non-giving-birth side need to give the birth-giving side some extra slack. Women are incredible and their body is able of doing these wonders. But it comes with a price.

Great advice. Seriously, spot on. ❤ All of mine wouldn’t sleep until 18-21 months, and then the next one was born at 24-27 months pp, so I basically haven’t slept much since 2015. 😂 Current baby (our last) is 8 months. I’ve tried the chair method, which eventually worked with my older three but isn’t working with my daughter, so now I’m trying Taking Cara Babies. 🙏 this method works because man, I’ve never been so tired. 🥴

I try to watch these videos to be more informed... I just keep getting more depressed, and feeling like I dont want to be in this world anymore. Im pregnant but I have epilepsy. The number one trigger of having a siezure is sleep deprevasion. Im so scared and ashamed. I shouldnt have tried to have a baby in the first place. I dont know what the hell i was thinking.

Oh sweet Emily, you are already a great mom because you are trying your best to be your best for your baby. ❤ and if you really are nervous about how the lack of sleep will affect your condition, bring it up at your next OB appointment, and see what your options are. I hope you will soon find what a joy it is to have a child 🥰

Hi Anna! Not sure where you live but I thought this comment might be helpful to consider. A lot of medical providers talk about disparities in quality of healthcare for people who are part of minority groups. And this could possibly be in part due to the fact that minority groups have less access to educational resources in a language and format that they are comfortable navigating. I have searched far and wide for SPANISH IN-PERSON birth classes for myself and my Ecuadorian husband to take, but so far I have only found Spanish ONLINE birth courses and they are rarely as helpful or detailed or naturally oriented than the resources that I’ve found in English. Additionally, my husband has great difficulty navigating technology so online classes would not be beneficial for him.
