You sir are the man. My wing chun journey lead me to the love of the Wong shun Leung system wich seems to me to be the most scientific and real way to train it for actually fighting by going outside the box. Problem with that was there was no school like that around me most wing chun is like you say like a robot not understanding it’s just a science of infighting. So because of that I still love the good wing chun like your school to me is the real deal but I just train in boxing again rather than learning the garbage that most schools teach. It’s fun I lost weight and for inside boxing wing chun is 💯 translational. Thank you for your videos. If I’m ever in Greenville I would love to train

Thanks for sharing☆ Mayweather uses the hit and hold method to get around the boxing rules, of holding and hitting. Wing Chun terminology is something that has helped me to progress and to understand concepts more clearer ♡ Bong 2 Sau2 concepts that could be of interest: Thrusting Wing Arm = bik1 bong2 Deflecting Wing Arm = se1 bong2 Throwing Wing Arm = paau1 bong2 Big Wing = daai6 bong2 Middle Wing Arm = zung1 bong2 Crane Wing = hok6 bong2 High Half Dispersing Low Half Flanking = bun3 taan1 bong2 AKA kwan2 sau2 Flanking Wing Arm = bong2 sau2 Wrong Bong Wing Arm = co3 bong2 Double Low Wing Arm = soeng1 dai1 bong2 sau2 Low Wing Arm = dai1 bong2 sau2 Deflecting Arm Grab Strike = bong2 laap3 daa2 Deflecting Arm Bar Grab Strike Or Break Combination = bong2 laan4 laap3 sau2 Paau1 is a very interesting concept, that implies something extra, such as a cannon ball set on fire. I find that using this paau1 concept to all techniques is very effective. Be it a punch kick or deflection, just by adding paau1 will make everything that more special and effective; very worthwhile Investigating ♡

Maybe you should be using that jut sau one side at a time (like with the lower bong); because the way you do it both sides at once, he can just come in with headbutt to the face [which is also the quickest solution to most clinches].

honestly that makes sense which is why MMA fighters and professional and amateur Boxers usually have coaches yelling at them on the corner to do this now do that now because there's a time and a place to do certain things and you got to know when after a while I guess they learn and do it but if they start to fail the coaches. Yelling at them you know do this now Clinton now or whatever the case may be

I would agree wing chun is dirty boxing same as JKD JKD make your own what I’m seeing in wing chun it’s going outside fighting as well as in fighting in this modern day and age like Master Wong system witch is very good I like that you have to think attack with wing chun rather than more offensive like karate.

I don't know no one said chain punching was mindlessly punching in repetition ... Actually someone probably did and they were wrong lol! I like to seek the bridge through punching and blocking personally and I only use double contact if I defend and catch another punch obviously .. Or if they retreat their arm where there was contact with I use a following step sometimes a y step and seek double hand chi sau position. I like the idea of just throwing your hands the way you did. But I prefer to ... If I'm seeking their hands really .. I have to target their head with an arc in close where they can't dodge so they can't remove their hand or they'd get hit. So I'm going to use a chop motion and get their arm. I also like to just punch counter and react. That's not mindlessly chain punching that's moving with them. Trading- I don't like trading anymore. I used to love to trade in a fight. I loved to just eat a punch and dish out a punch and wildfighting before I started martial arts. Now ... I have injury to the brain. If I keep after their hands and it's easy I get that just get the bridge. I don't know can I assume it will work that way all.the time of I go after their hands I could get in trouble. The way you did it you stayed I the centerline so that's kind of good. I'm a huge fan of just gate blocking or using variable combos for contact. Chain punching is a concept not always a technique. It's teaching you to retrieve your arm and reconnect pressure. You can overload a one handed defense with it. But I don't view it as a technique to use all the time. If the door is open go in and keep pressure sure but if it's not open you are going to need to ask at that door, is, not mindlessly punch. When you repeatedly block do you time it? Does it change? Is there offense and defense? So the same can be said of punching. I don't mind using gate blocks and strikes in free position no contact. I'm used to that i came from Shaolin. That's fine. But I would never even think of mindlessly chain punching as a technique rather than a concept. The only time it's a technique the chain punch is if you are trying to overwhelm the last hand or if you hit them successfully and figure it's still open because it is a lot of times due to the speed. Otherwise I'd identify it as a concept how to retrieve your hand keep an attack keep pressure ... How to move without getting crossed up. Not a technique. I don't acknowledge the mindless chain punch as interpreting Wing Chun correctly myself. There's a lot TO the concept of punches defense etc ... And that's everything, not the technique itself but how you think about and around it. A punch shouldn't be complicated it should be natural. Easy. Basic. Formed for purpose. The WAY YOU THINK ABOUT IT is everything and that is determined in all skills it's the way you think about a very basic thing.

Angel East they’re like the fook-sao in the first form in that they refer to a tactical application - bridge control in this case. That the movement is repeated three times (like the fook) emphasizes the tactical importance of gaining a bridge/clinch properly. To be clear, the form ISN’T teaching us to chase people with the bong-sao anymore than SLT tells us to hit people with the fook-sao. It’s the proverbial finger pointing at the moon - gaining control through contact/clinch while moving. Hope that clears it up for you and thanks for watching.

Hello there SiFu. I am happy to see your view regarding this section of Chum Kiu. Actually I do agree with what you said about this but there was a teacher I came across just recently and explained to me regarding the same section and I found it more clearer and took me back to the more practical way of technique. Over all it’s still good.

It's an excellent teaching video on Wing Chun concepts but nothing to do with the Bong Sao applications in the middle section of Chum Kiu whatsoever as evidenced by the complete lack of connectivity between the form movement and what you explain/demonstrate. Certainly in the first 10 mins anyway. Otherwise, really good vid.

Wing Chun works but with blades.... empty handed fighting is mostly a back-up. That's why they say martial arts are lethal and they're meant to kill your opponent. Wing Chun's one touch fighting style is superior to combat sports like boxing when there's blades involved. Boxers are trained to keep fighting for several minutes. With this style it's one touch, one kill. Without those components, prepared to be disappointed.

You're really stretching it... Because you can do hooks doesn't mean hooks are in the system or preferred in the system... I invite you to show any hook in any form, not something like a hook an actual hook. Then let's see how many of those there are compared to other strikes... So, let's take a look at the dummy form.... There appear to be, hmmm let's see, ZERO hooks in there.... For a REASON... The system on the other hand has many other strikes that take the line and maintains the core strategy of a fluid CG disruption attack which you don't seem to fully appreciate... (which a hook or shovel hook or do I have to say it -- a shoulder roll, LMAO does not do or allow for) and attacks from a variety of positions at close range.... Please don't make things that are not wing chun into wing chun. There is nothing wrong with using hooks inside but it's NOT Ving Tsun... You're a little out there bud esp with the shoulder roll...and most students of Ip would not agree with this blurring of systems... not because one is better but because you LOSE the common thread that binds elements together in the system that makes Ving Tsun what it is....
