Matt priortise water and food storage first. Don't just start building farms and dams at the start in hard mode. You need to have stability for progression which is gain by not worrying about food and water needs for the long term by storing lot of them. Also start using large containers for water if you can as it is efficient or else you're an architect.

I still play this the same way hard mode is the way to go the start is the hardest part to prepare for the first drought. This is one of my favorite maps.

I'm curious. If you build water tanks in the river, will they be filled with water and can be used again when the drought arrives? The mechanics should be similar to wetting the beavers right?

A suggestion for a new game/ mod: Timberborn EXTREME! the game starts in first person view and the map only shows explored land. "God mode" is the same as the regular game, except for the map mod. Explored land can be by you, or by directing the beavers to wander. If "you" die, game over, even in god mode... But you are age immortal, unless specified. Would you try this game Matt?
