Some tips: Buy wagons! You can hitch unlimited of them to your truck (though for FPS I don't recommend too many at a time). Each wagon can hold unlimited of 1 large item or up to 4 types of small items (unlimited of each). Wagons can also be brought into stores so you can just spam-click items into it. You can also wheel the wagon to the buy area to buy the stuff,then hitch it to your truck. Meaning instead of carrying each item 4 times, you only do it once. FInally, at your base, you now have 30 wagons organized with each item inside, basically this game's version of an inventory system. From here, it's INCREDIBLY easy to build whatever you want

Small tip: It would be more efficient, to leave this setup as it is & just add the next one on the lower floor. You can direct outputs from both setups to one sorting system with cauldrons and make it easier to collect, and easier to look at :D. And if you really have some time to JUST play (grind your as* off), you can instead of putting the cauldrons at the end of the sorting system on the lower level, put them at the top of the mining area and direct the ore on conveyers to the top as well. You wouldn't have to go down all the time, only when upgrading or remodeling (if needed).

You can kind of automate the filling of the repairer, put the reader on the top and the repairer on the side. Then you set up a small conveyor loop under the repairer. Throw your wrench bags on the conveyor and when they touch a repairer with room for a wrench it refills it. You just throw a bunch of repair bags on the conveyor loop and forget about the repair system as long as there are bags on the conveyor.

You had 3 drills before and added 2, that's an +66% increase not 40%. They do count for only 40% of the production...

You can use the magnet on a stick with a bucket for easy clean up. The magnet doesn't effect things in a bucket or on a conveyor. So magnet everything into a single bucket and dump it all on the conveyor belt before your sorting machine, jobs a goodin.

The pan can store infinite resources so if you need to move lets say a bunch of uncut gems, get your pan, bring it near the gems and then magnet all the gems into the pan. You might need to pulse the magnet to jiggle the gems in a big to start with but it is quicker especially if you have to take the items more than a few blocks. I used this method on old hydroneer when I bought a new plot and couldn't be bothered to drag over all the conveyors and so I just took a pan full of resources over to my old claim and dumped them on the conveyor. Only think is the game won't be happy for a while when you tip it out because there's suddenly like 10,000 objects it has to manage.

You may put the cork at the end of each pipe

Forge marks are have a fixed bonus value that doesnn't change, once thawed. So you can accurately save a reload if you use one thats a dud, then use another to see what properties it has.

Lil tip carry two buckets in your truck. Fill one with fuel, and keep the other empty. When you go to refuel drop the empty bucket in the fuel slot then dump the full bucket in over the empty. The fuel level in the truck will rise, and your empty bucket will also be filled. Switch buckets and repeat until at full fuel. Edit: just be sure to put both buckets back in the trunk when you're done. The truck wont move if a bucket is left in the fuel slot.

Add a separate lava intake pipe then connect to the main one with a t-piece so if one of them breaks and needs repairing it should still work

well, Matt is going to struggle when it comes time to take the gems out of those compressors

The auto-repair system is exactly what I came here to find - those filters are driving me crazy!

there is a simpler way to control all the system: 1. buy a valve with a logic entry, put on the first straight pipe after the intake; 2. put one filter each on the next five straight pipes after the logic valve; 3. buy 5 logic Ts of A equals B, 5 readers, 5 hurlers; 4. buy a logic lever; 5. set the readers pointing to the pipe, the hurlers pointing to the filters; 6. link each reader with a logic T A=B, then link the hurlers on the output (not the A or B ports). 7. link all the other inputs of the logic Ts together (if, for example, your readers are all B ports, link all the As together). Also link the logic valve with these cables; 8. Link the logic lever alongside all the Ts and the logic valve. This way, when you pull the lever down, it will open the logic valve, allowing the lava to pass, and at the same time it'll output 1, which serves as the logic T comparison. They will hurl a spanner every time the filters reach 1 durability, and as they all operate independently you won't waste spanners on any of the filters. When you pull the lever up, it'll turn down the entire system, and won't affect the spanners (one side is inputting 0, no filters will reach that.

Catching up on the Hydroneer videos after a few busy nights at work. One of these days I'll actually get around to playing the game... but my new PC is having display resolution sharpness issues when I resize the display image to fit the screen. It's like I've suddenly taken off my glasses when I look at the screen... except that I haven't. I might just need a new monitor; the monitor in question is ten years old, and so is the HDMI cable. The PC is brand new, and my first PC with HDMI video.

I absolutely love this series but man it looks like hard work at times… we see and appreciate the effort, Matt. Keep it up the good work but make sure you have fun with it too and take a break if you need it!

Haven't played in a bit, but you can direct all the gems into one compressor without sorting and it'll compress them correctly into one large gem of each which you can pickup. Need a logic repeater to trigger it though. They might've changed that but I don't think so

Do a flip with the logic repair setup. Put the spanner hurler where the durability reader is, and vice versa. Wire it in reverse. And put the filters back on the side of the pipe where the hurlers would point to. That way you can directly drop spanners in easily as opposed to having to hold E and force them into the hurlers.

Oh yeah, Matt, if the trucks have a hidden speed boost. Just hold W+Space for a few seconds and it will automatically go super fast.

Only the drills should be at the bottom, everything else can be on the surface. Just bring the ice / frostrock up, then sort it, melt/harvest it, sort and process it. Means you'll only need to move the drills if you go deeper, and your output will be easy to collect at the top. And you need less space in your cave.

Love the content matt , trick with hydroneer is using carts to carry your building supplies because you cna load then and oay for it without unloading and then put the cart in the back of the truck so much less hassel lol

Quick tip: You are wasting spanners as your setup makes it so that every time it takes damage it gets repaired. You want to put the reader into an A == B with A or B being the reader and the other being a Logic Keypad set at 0. This makes it so that when the durability reads 0 it sends a signal to the Spanner Hurling Unit repairing the filter.

I went much more complicated with my repair setup. I use a compare T to compare the read signal to a keypad set to 5. Once the filter gets to 5 durability, the Compare T sends the 1 signal to the flinger. It looks great in the pump room I built!

I actually set up a logic automatic repairing system in mine the other day. I'm only at 13:22 so if he solves this I haven't seen it yet. The best way I've found to do it is to have the spanner flinger on the side with the filter and the durability reader on the side. But I remember playing right after the 1.0 release the durability readers maybe had some kind of bug, but it was awful to get them working on filters. I had a system where I had the logic displays on every one of them and occasionally they would just read 0 and since I use a logic repeater and the equal to merger it would fail to repair until you took the durability reader off and put it back. So for most of my time playing base game I didn't use logic except to repair my drills. But how are you getting corestone from a tier 1 drill? I can't seem to get them to produce any at all.

Finally got to play this game thanks to my dad. Its a grind at first but sooo satisfying. I've already got a start on automation but I've got big plans. Wish me luck, fellow Engineer!

If you swap the durability detector with the spanner flinger and move the filter setup to a point where you can place conveyer belts under the flinger, you can just set up a circle of conveyer belts add bags of spanners onto them to auto refill the flingers.

Quick question for you, what if you set up multiple intakes, each with filters, that then combine with t-joints to meet up to provide the intake, that way if one breaks the others will still feed the pipe? love the content. thanks for the entertainment

You actually increased production by ~66.67%, as 3 are 100%, so 1 is 33.33% and now you have 5. If you were to remove 2 of the 5 drills now, you would reduce production by 40%.

Matts frustration with the Hydroneer dev is funny and justified. Hydroneer could have so much more to it, if only the dev had a clearer vision.

I am going to be the guy to say it's a bit easier to re-load the spanner hurlers if you put them (and the filters) horizontally. You can even set up a conveyor to store additional wrenches.

You can build a conveyor to place spanner boxes on that autoreload the spanner throwers so all you have to do is drop spanner boxes on the conveyor.

Filter Repair % Checker Tip: if you use a logic number pad you can tell the spanner thrower how low the durability should be to use one since they repair 100%. This way you can tell them to only repair when the first and second filters get to 10%. This will ensure you don't waste them repairing one at 99/100, but also keeps things running without it waiting to repair when it's at 0% causing a hiccup which may mess with the physics and break something like a potato in your massive redstone shopping machine 💀😂

The way you do the auto repair is you set up the scanner above it, put the wrench flinger back from it by a space with the opening facing up. Then you use a number pad between them to insert the durability value between 0 and 100 at which you want it to throw the wrench. I generally go for something like 5, and a ≤ thing. Then when it returns a value less than or equal to 5, down from 100, it will shoot the wrench at whatever the flinger is pointed at.

My computer is broken so I haven't been able to get or play the new expansion, but if they've updated it there is a semi-official mod that is a table that lets you make precise weight bars so that you're not wasting anything or dragging stuff around. It is SO convenient. I hope it's been updated.

Just an fyi, the auto repair things can hold up to 20 wrenches. I also find it kind of interesting that today my bro showed me how to set up the auto repair stuff, and you're figuring it out on the vid.

You probably have enough ice production at the bottom now you could move that other drill down there.

you can run a looping belt under the wrench shooters and just pack it with tool bags. i have mines that will run for a week.

You could have multiple intakes with filters feeding into one master pipe then all intakes would need to fail simultaneously for the operation to stop working.

you should get a gem chisel so you can cut the gems down to size when you need to

You could use a T Valve which connects to three pipes which pumps lava. In that case you won’t need that many filters.

Could you not set up multiple inputs to help deal with the inputs breaking down? Admittedly I don't have the game so I don't know if you're limited to only one input but it seems like it should work. At the very least, that should prevent it from completely halting when one input breaks down.
