The Brett Lee one was the last over in the final of the BBL a few years ago and Brett Lee’s final over in first class cricket before his retirement. Anyway with 3 balls left the other team needed 1 run to win and Lee got 2 wickets in a row to send it to the last ball. Anyway the run out would have given his team the win and they muffed it. Crushing end to an incredible career.

List A technically, but 100% correct. It broke my heart even as an Englishman. True legend of the sport. I'm from Preston like Flintoff, so the moment between the 2 of them in 2005 was really poignant when I was growing up

The run-out would have sent them into a super-over. The scores were level at that point (1 run for batting team to win).

@@tobylewis6442 yep remember that moment well. I’m an Australian and I felt a bit like Lee when it happened. BTW Kasper should not have been given out. All good mate almost 20 years later and I’m almost over it 🤣🤣

Peter Siddle's hat-trick on his birthday will always be my favourite hat-trick. If you can find a clip it's amazing.

The second clip was still out. I'm pretty sure back then just used ball tracker for TV audiences to see and it wasn't part of the game where you could review it and if it shows not out on the ball tracker the decision get over turned.

There have been 46 hattricks in 2538 Test matches so far. So a little under 1 hattrick every 50 Test matches. In all of the Test cricket over all time that India have played they have only managed 3 hattricks.

Just for context, I was an opening bowler and played for 15 years. I only ever had 2 hat tricks. I still have the match balls 😂

Kohli talking to the stump mic was talking to the South African broadcasters, Supersport. He referenced the ball tampering scandal, when an Australian fielder (Cameron Bandcroft) was caught using sandpaper to alter the ball. In the following weeks Bancroft, David Warner, who was said to have told Bancroft to do it, and Steve Smith (the captain) all received 1 year ban by Cricket Australia. From memory, only Bancroft received a sanction from the ICC - a 1 match ban, the standard punishment for ball tampering. The South Africa captain at that time had been sanctioned for ball tamppering twice, though his methods weren't so blatant.

Hat-tricks only count if all three wickets are taken by the bowler, i.e, run outs don't count towards a hat=trick. It's a rare occurrence too. But it also depends on the situation. For instance, the hat-trick at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="463">7:43</a> is fairly special because it happened during the first 3 balls of the first over of the first innings of the test match. It's tougher to get the batsmen out if they are not looking to attack, especially at the start of a test match. But under certain conditions, a new red ball can move a bit too much for the batsmen to handle. But hat-tricks are just a bit more common in T20 cricket, since the batsmen are often trying to attack the bowlers, and can lose their wicket. Fun fact - There have been only 43 hat-tricks in more than 2000 test matches ever played. Consider the fact that test matches have 2 innings per team and way many more overs than a 50 over ODI or a T20. 50 Hat-tricks in 4000+ 50 over ODIs. However, there have already been 61 hat-tricks in T20 internationals, which is a fairly recent format of cricket, and a maximum of 4 overs are allowed per bowler. (Sorry, I couldn't get the total number of T20Is played.) Love your channel.

When the umpire gave the batsman out, that was before teams could request reveiws, so umpires decision was final, which cost them the game. Nowadays teams get 2 reveiws.

Just wanted to clarify in the beginning they were 2 Pakistani players (who play for the same national side) and they fought each other as they were talking smack. I think this is what happened but I’m not sure.

Arm before wicket is just leg before wicket technically, but still rare. Leg byes are runs scored after the ball hits the batsmen anywhere that isn't considered the bat, so everywhere apart from the bat or a hand holding the bat. Arm is considered leg, weird but a fairly simple rule, but rare to be out LBW hitting the shoulder

Interesting fact. A Hat trick can carry over to the next match the two teams play , No matter the time span. If the same bowler is on the team He can can finish the hat trick with his first ball of his first over of the next meeting of those two teams !!

Interesting, but incorrect. A hattrick can be across first and second innings of the same match, but not across more than one match.

I'm not sure if this still goes on, but there was "micro-betting", which was placing wagers on things like which overs would have a no ball, or which over would be maidens. Not total match fixing, but still something the players could directly control.

The run-out would technically not count for a hat-trick, as the out is not credited to the bowler. Even if the bowler effects the runout themselves , not technically a hat-trick, even though it might as well be

I don't know the story with the last highlight, but spot fixing has been an issue in cricket before. Mohammed Amir (Played in the WC for Pakistan) and Mohamed Asif bowled no balls on pre determined deliveries in test matches against England. Asif was experienced and bowled them by an inch or so, but Amir overstepped massively. They'd already been caught though, and secret recordings saw them spend time in jail in England, and face long bans. Amir was able to come back, as he was 17/18 at the time, but Asif's career was over, as well as the captain Salman Butt, who was also implicated. I'm sure there's a video documenting all the events that you'll find interesting

you guys are no longer learning cricket, y' all are in the club with us now <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="247">4:07</a> Hatrick has to be all from the bowler, therefore, a run out wouldn't be counted as a hattrick for the bowler,,, but never the less it was heartbreaking for Brett Lee. BTW it was the Big bash League from Australia And <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="661">11:01</a> yes it was the same Mitchel Starc

Guys - you need to go back to the dirty aussies bowling the underarm ball at NZ! No cricket knowledge is complete without it. Even the New Zealand Prime Minister weighed in, commenting that its no wonder the Aussie team colour is yellow! Find it, and relive the shame of the worst moment in sporting history!
