Goa is majorly Hindu, Lord Mangeshi, Devi Shanta Durga are the two of the most important god and goddesses worshipped by the local goans. Ponda is an important place which is filled with a lot of Hindu temples. One of the oldest shiva temple can be found in the forest of Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary in Mollem, called the Tambdi Surla temple which was found by the Kadamba dynasty of Goa. Goa has a rich heritage of traditions, folklores and goes beyond beaches, drugs and parties.

11:00 Early/Previous Mughal emperor were slowly increasing empire one after the other & destroying temples in North! When Aurangazeb took the throne, he decided to move south conquer everything & convert everyone, but it was Maratha Empire 🚩 who was standing as firm wall between North & South during aurangazeb reign! Marathas 🚩were one of major reason for temples in South India still in good shape!

Because of Portugese inquisition lot of temple in Goa are shifted from coast area to internal area...of goa and many have shifted to neighbouring states like Maharashtra and Karnataka and the surviving temple were design more like residential structure so that they cannot be identified as temples to remain protected....now the government is rebuilding them and funding as well to restore them..along with churches....also tourist only roam on the coastal side you don't see many grand temple....and your perception is goa has churches beaches and sea make you miss the temple while you travel ...we don't need high statue in goa we have our unique culture fabric which is enough to represent religion and maintain the goan unique identity.

We all have same stories , our ancestors have fought and preserved our Sanskriti..In North, people openly say Mughals destroyed our temples and faith, but I hardly see any goan talking about Portuguese inquisition. I am not saying we need to be resentful at present, but claiming our culture does not mean creating religious disharmony.

I'm a GSB Konkani living in Udupi District of Karnataka. We Konkani's not only GSB but RSB and other branches of Konkani from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada and also from Uttar Kannada districs, we come every year( and some every month) to Goa as it's our Place of Origin and where our Kuladevatas Temple are present. Kuladevatas temple like Nageshi, Mahalaxmi, Damodar, Ramnathi, Shanta Durga, etc. Most of the temples are present in the southern part of Goa so people from our part mostly come to Goa to visit Kuladevatas Temple.

You're right, in our UP we called Dih Baba to our Kshetrapala and in all across India people have their own Kshetrapala. And all Kshetrapalas are Lord Shiva's manifestation or some people say Kshetrapalas are Shiva Ganas. i can say goan people too good humble....if i kept my bike with a key anywhere on the road if i leave it for days sure no one will touch it.....but nowdays bcoz of outsiders its not safe not genreal but less but they will be outsiders surely

Go to every temple in phonda and ask them the original location of the temple and deity and why /how they relocated there many temples in Maharashtra as well which were originally from Goa relocated during inquisition.. example 1.Shiroda Maharashtra kuldev kulkar relocated from Goa family name Barde..2.Sharvani temple adavanpal near bicholim relocated from saligaon during Portugese era ..(it's a history Hindus during any kind of invasion always carry their vigrava (murti) if they are unable to protect the temple and flee to safer place be it any part of subcontinent and every hindu know it)

@@radhikatamboskar6665 frist learn proper history of goa an then comment, like which areas were under Portuguese rule, whom those temples belong etc. The way you posted your comment looks like you don't even know the geographical boundaries of goa during Portuguese rule. Remember all temples of goa were built by gaunkars of the respective villages an all temples stood on gaunkari lands now only a gaunkar can claim that any of their temples were destroyed. Are you a gaunkar of any of this villages you have mentioned or atleast any gaunkar told you regarding this. I hope you know who are gaunkars.

@@Myworldisgoa my kuldev is from tambosem mopa, my maternal grandmother family deity is sharvani advanpal and my greatgrand mother from my maternal side is a from barde family migrated to shiroda maharshtra and establish thier kuldev kulkar over there I hope that help you to know where I get this information form and I am bhandri by caste I don't need any gaunkar ,kulkar,baman to tell me my ancestral history.. infact I get it straight from my family and infact even my extended families have similar story passed from generations so instead of denying and claim some crappy rss agenda etc it better that people accept the truth though it sounds bitter and if you continue to ignore the problem faced by Hindus during the Portugese regime it's your problem .the fact won't change otherwise, that they were cruel and forced conversation on the local population who had to flee there land for saving their life and religious practices

I think this is more attention than you need. Please dont be overdefensive. No one has anything to say about the real secular catholics. The dark history was a part of goas history and always will be. Documented in letter written by the Portuguese to the church. What does that have anything to do with the secular cristavs of goa ? Unless you are one of the radicals . So i am not replying to any of your messages

There are bhrama Vishnu and mahesh carved on the temple up above from the outer side which is hindu . There is kadam Dynasty rajmudra inscribed on the temple stone inside who followed hindusim . The Abhishek water/milk outlet unquie to Shiva temple from outer wall says it's a hindu temple...if you have any proof that it had any buddist sign please share

@@radhikatamboskar6665 all those carvings and inscriptions which are there were made in the early 13th century. Today's Hinduism reached goa only in the end of 12th century. The temple was constructed centuries before .

I think you need to read goa's proper history to know when today's Hinduism reached goa. For your information l am a goan an belong to the tribe which are the makers of goa. We have a history of 5000yrs as far as goa is concerned.
