Hi, Carolyn! couldn't wait until I am all done with my internship shift, so I am watching this video during my lunch break! Random purchase at Target is so classic! haha your black bikini is very cute anyway! I am so glad that you enjoyed the personal funeral planning assignment! I remember back home in Japan, my grandma has a notebook with the similar theme and with a lot of prompts on! I really can see social work is what you really want to do and is in alignment with your values, while the MSW student life can be extremely hard! I respect you putting all your effort into your work and I support you. Thank you Carolyn for sharing your life with us🤍

Awesome video! Isort of did a similar undergrad to you. I just completed my undergrad bachelor of Human Sciences majoring in community services and health promotion/policy. I am also looking into A MS in Social Work next year. I have always struggled to find what exactly what I wanted to do so just wondering what made you select Social Work?

thank you! and wow congrats on completing your undergrad!! i realized i wanted to get an MSW degree after learning about all the different avenues i could choose from career wise afterwards. you can work in the fields of mental health, substance abuse, education, administration, and medical/health care, and so many more. it's an amazing degree that opens doors to so many careers, and with that, i chose it because i plan on working in mental health as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the future as my ultimate goal! hope this helps :)

Sorry I was also going to ask do you juggle part time/full time work when studying? And if so is it related to your future work? Thanks and sorry for the abuse of questions lol

no worries, thanks for asking! i worked a remote, part-time job during my entire first year of grad school in quality assurance (not social work related). in 2022, i worked as a substitute teacher for the second half of the school year (not sw related, but gained a lot of experience with students of different ages!) since school districts are out for summer right now, i'm not currently working but will be starting my internship in the fall!

@@carolynnicolev Ohh cool! How many hours of placement did you have to complete as well throughout the degree?

@@DxsneyLand my generalist practicum (1st yr) was 320 direct hours and 20 indirect hours. my macro practicum (2nd yr) in the fall will be 500 hours in total. (unsure how the direct/indirect hours will be split up at this moment)
