hey! unfortunately, the only one of those modules i took was li15 so i can only really comment there. the module is really good at introducing you to diverse perspectives on lang ac.- it's taught by lecturers with completely different perspectives from each other and they all get their share of input on what is taught to you, which means you get a good taste of both sides of key debates, which is really useful. it's also very broad- you do stuff right from single word acquisition right up to complex syntax and discourse principle acquisition which is good because it suits pretty much everyone's interests. the only thing i would say is that it can be sometimes disjointed because of all the different perspectives and topics you're covering, there isn't a lot of consistent follow-through. but on the whole, it's a really interesting module and i would definitely recommend it, especially if you're interested in dealing with data, as there are practical sessions where they talk about how research is actually conducted and part of the exam is dealing with research data

as for the rest, i'm actually taking li16 and li18 next year, so i'll have to get back to you on those. but from what i've heard, people LOVE li16 and really rave about it. as for li18 i've heard its quite a lot of work, apparently the coding can take up a big chunk of your time. but i've also heard the lecture content is really interesting and most people really enjoy doing it, especially since its all quite topical, and its taught very well apparently so that's good

i didn't take li6 but people ik who did said it's very scientific- some of the content they do on sound waves is the same content as some of the physics students (but not in the same depth of course). but it also does introduce you to some applications, where you can do phonetic acquisition and forensic phonetics within it so that's useful. to me, it looks like a lot of analysing whether our analysis of sound is accurate or not, being more critical about the IPA and other things you might have touched on in li1

can't say anything about li7 phonology but at the minute, it's on a year-on-year-off schedule with li8 morphology. morphology was offered last year so phonology will be offered 2023-2024, then not offered 2024-2025 if that makes sense. there's talk of restructuring how morphology and phonology are taught in the department, but the plans aren't clear and won't come into effect for a good few years anyway
