Maria, when removing a battery, always take the negative(black) cable off first then the positive(red). When installing, put positive(red) cable first then negative(black) cable. Never let your tool touch both cables at the same time either. Safe travels!

Great tip. Your chances of arcing and ruining equipment are much less if you remove negative first .

I give you a tip from the shop ; Disconnect negative- clamp first !! When you reinstall the battery connect positive + clamp first and negative- clamp last !

I love watching you and Blue’s journey. My 11 y/o chocolate Lab has Copper Storage Disease. It’s hard knowing he’s sick but we are trying to let him live his best life. You take such wonderful care of Blue. Warrior on!! 💙

You should get Blue a apple air tag collar , just in case he chases a rabbit or something and either gets lost or god for bid hurt you can use your phone to find him .. thats what i do with my dog when we go on a camping fishing trip , just gives you a piece of mind knowing you can always find him 👍

Airtags rely on an apple device being nearby to update the location... They're better than nothing, for sure, but a true GPS collar (like the Fi I think it's called) would probably be better suited for them, I think.

@@JarodWilkerson i can be at the lake and find my air tags miles and miles away.. they rely on your phones connection , if you have service on your phone they work. The air tag is just a receiver that gets pinged from the satellite your phone is getting its connection from .. trust me i wouldn’t lie.. try one you will see . Thats why people put them in their car in case it gets stolen .. they can find their car , that is the whole purpose for their being created .. try one you will see.

@@PhatboyHD88 I'm aware, I have some Airtags. They will always show the last location that was recorded when you look in the app, but they do indeed need a compatible Apple device nearby to update the location accurately. That's literally just how they work. If the dog moves away from an apple device, the location wont be accurate. This information is easily obtained by looking at the specs of Airtags the Find My network. GPS is far more accurate.

I have to say that I just realized two things. I know it might not be such a big deal but I would feel worry some sleeping while my dogs is out in the middle of nowhere thinking an eagle might pick him up or a snake might bite him. Two, I would buy myself one of those portable gas stoves for camping and I'm sure you can make some yummy food there. Keep up the great work.

to be a fair an eagle could never swoop down and pick up her dog. Its a full size aussie. Now a puppy, that's different. 2nd, dogs are very smart and an aussie is even smarter than normal dogs. I'm sure her dog would not go near a snake or even attempt to attack one. It would keep its distance. Even if a snake somehow snuck up on her dog, they have better senses/hearing than us humans. Remember dogs derive from wolves. Her dog is at probably at peace and at home when he's out there.

OMG a vanlifer (well, technically an Overlander) who isn't a vegan who basically lives on avocado toast and kale! A stereotype (or cliche? meme?) destroyed by chicken sausages and a meat and raw egg-loving Sheltie! Major points earned here. And note that I love avocado, toast and kale and all the other vegan standbys. It's just that, well, it's gotten to be such a tired cliche (stereotype? meme?) and someone had to put it to rest, and that would be you and Blue. Extra points for the new battery and tool kit!

Keep an extra battery in ur car please . And extra oils. Jumpers etc. That day u got stuck was scary. So lucky ppl cam to help but keep extra parts etc in ur car somewhere. Keep hothands etc.

She does have an extra battery in Poe, that’s why all she had to do was switch out the spare battery with the dead one. Most all diesel engines require you to have two batteries at all times!

Newer viewer here and I just want to drop in and say I love the way you interact with Blue. Some people I watch treat their pups like objects, but I can tell you see blue as more then a dog. He’s your best friend and kiddo! He’s so lucky to have an awesome adventurer mama like you to raise him and provide for him

Always remember to disconnect & connect ur ground connections last when when working on ur batteries, it will avoid any fireworks if u touch any grounded metal. Just a little reminder, u probably know that already. I watch all ur vids. U & Blu r living the dream everyone wishes for.❤❤

Multimeter! Get a multimeter, even a cheap one, you can check your batteries to see if they are healthy/charged (11-12 volts), you can make sure your truck is charging and not overcharging the batteries (13-14volts). Good to have for troubleshooting stuff around the car.

Blue is so awesome. I did have to laugh at him spitting out his Liver supplement. I have a 12 year old adorable Golden Retriever who was diagnosed with cancer a year ago, He is also on a liver supplement and hates it. He won't spit it out when I put it in his mouth, but it's the only thing we've found that he won't take freely and trys to turn his head to avoid it. Doesn't help that it isn't supposed to be given with any food.

Rattlesnake's out there….be vigilant for that precious pup. My neighbor’ s Lab was bitten by a copperhead last year from one sunning in their driveway! Bubby's immune system may not be strong enough to fight that venom.❤️

I love that grocery store in Moab! It was such a pleasure meeting you and Blue as we were heading back to our camp in Canyonlands after driving through Arches National Park. You are as sweet as can be and Blue is just as beautiful and cute in person. I think I talked about you and Blue and all your adventures nonstop back to our camp! What I've learned from these videos is that I love my little stationary mobile home in my senior living area in the Southern California desert. I work on improving the home every year. I have a community center with golf and pools. I have stores within a mile and not as much traffic as the bigger cities. Even if I was younger, I would never do what you are doing unless I was forced to. I'm glad you enjoy it. Great videos.

Just a tip, ALWAYS put your ground cable on LAST... ALWAYS hook up your positive cables FIRST... That way you will never short out a tool tightening up a terminal... Great job swapping out batteries. not too many women will attempt to do that themselves. Kudos to you...

Your landrover reminds me of the one I used to drive in the British Army. We used to drive them to West Germany as it was then, in the middle of the winter! Did not have many creature comforts but it was very reliable. We had the soft top petrol versions then.

I wanted to post on your most recent video. 1st you are inspirational. 2nd I am taking more road trips as a solo female and 2 dogs (1 is an aussie) in my 4 Runner. 3rd I have learned a lot from watching how you handle situations, and the self help books you recommend. 4th Thank you Maria and Blue, thank you for being you and letting other people learn from it. 5th My Aussie Keena likes to watch your video, especially portions when Blue is in the camera. My other dog, could care less 🤣 Happy Trails!!
