Well if you take into account Minecraft logic here than yes, it is accurate. Minecraft sponges literally remove a massive area of water all at once. This does the same thing. This actually might be possible in real life, too. If you get a sponge that size and put water on the ground, it will be able to suck up most of the water due to surface tension. There will be a few little puddles left but it will get most of it.
