Desperate situation. They were both trying to do the right thing. The court was closed to protective orders the day she mustered the nerve to ask for help. Again. Even if she had gotten the order, the deputy in question acted to protect, serve, and prevent. Even had she gotten the PO, no one would have done anything to help her before she was maimed or killed.

I believe her story, and I believe she initially shot him in self-defense. However, she kept shooting out of distress and over killed him. So, obviously, she murdered him. William was a disgusting druggie and abuser who lived a fast life. While also feeling entitled to abuse women or at least that one and that lifestyle lead to his demise.

As a retired military veteran I have a question, what the hell was that dude thinking wearing his uniform to court? That’s 100% against regulations; he wasn’t testifying at a military court and he wasn’t testifying on behalf of the military. Also, when a cop can’t admit they’re wrong and they double down, it brings a lot of doubt.

First off, no way in hell would I leave my home because my guest wanted to "be alone." The fact that she had the audacity to even ask is mind-blowing. It also shows her true, "it's all about me," personality. She killed him because he was going to go all the way with the charges when she wouldn't leave his house. Her behavior is NOTHING like someone who who experienced domestic violence with PTSD. No woman/man is going do the things she did. Especially asking to be alone and then CALL her abuser!? 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

You want to rule out their innocence you have to investigate it like you need to prove their innocence. To show how the the evidence doesn’t show innocence, not just she’s guilty, no need to do anything but show misconstrued evidence, ignoring anything corroborating her statement, and bash her character while claiming she’s guilty.

I’ve heard this case at least 5x and I never ever saw Detective Benton in a negative light until the 5th time hearing this case. She just couldn’t admit she was wrong… I can’t stand someone who won’t admit when they are blatantly incorrect. It sounds like they both convicted Victoria in their minds before they ever even saw the evidence!!!! Thank you 48 Hours for fair and balanced reporting.

She’s been raped at least multiple times in the past, this is someone she’s been in a previous relationship with, she invites him over after telling her friend/roommate to leave, and is so traumatizing to her that she does not feel the need to press charges or call the police, but shoots him 9 times, one in the head.

I‘m floored by so many aspects of this story! I can’t believe that it seems to be legal in the US to show up with cameras at a scene where one person just died and spill details of an ongoing investigation and then have that aired before the defendant got a fair trial?? The fact that the detective was ok with doing a show like this shows her lack of morals and professionalism. I doubt that this would be legal in my country and I wish the law could come for her in some way! In this case she might have at least been right in her conclusion but imagine how much damage she could do working like this!

Fr. I thought the case would result into a hung jury because of Benton's peacocking. She's lucky the rest of the team is competent and had collected overwhelming evidence against the ex and that despite her wrong assumptions, the actual evidence backs up the suspect's guilt. But what if it doesn't? She's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I've heard that inmates are not allowed to have makeup. Prisoner advocates say that this puts an accused person at a disadvantage because they cannot look their best during their trial, whereas their accuser may be dressed to the nines with professional hair and makeup. The attorney applying makeup in court did seem weird, but knowing the above makes it more understandable.

Didn't she state that she was thinking that he was going to try to get her put away or something by saying she assaulted him and if I remember correctly then possibly that would affect her custody of her son. Didn't she want to talk him out of this. Any mother would take this chance of talking to the abuser to protect her child. I think she was abused by this man possibly psychologically and definitely physically and believes that he would do this even if it wasn't true. I think that having been in a relationship where they protect their image and destroy you is their goal is what I think I have heard a narcissist does. I think I may be true that it is common for the wife to look like the crazy one while the abuser gets off scott free for being guilty of his crime although she lived to tell the story with people not believeing her unless she lied. If what she says is true which I think there is reasonable doubt that she could be innocent, well at least she did not get killed but I wish that maybe she would have testified to say why she believed she was in danger for her life but he has beat her many times so may be this time she could see it in his eyes that he was not right in his head and could have killed her who know.

They didn’t include that detective interviewed an exboyfriend of killerTory that said she accused him of rape and threatened to beat herself up and press charges that he battered her. He was scared of her. Tory also had a file several inches thick of ex-correspondence with old boyfriends alleging rape and abuse. She had a copy of the “bible” of domestic violence and highlighted passages of the qualities of the VICTIM-not the predator. So glad she is caged for life. Will overcome addiction and had so much love to give his daughter. Tragic.

I have my suspicions on her abuse. I cant prove it of course. But all her injuries are very mild and in places they can be self inflicted. You dont normally see that with abuse victims and i noticed that immediately. Its odd. His injury however, on the back of the head, bleeding, alledgedly her hitting him with a hammer, thats not something you see as self inflicted. Its not all that hard to make some bruises on your arm. Black eye is a lot harder, but the pictures shown are not fresh and through black eye. Its the remnants of it and can easily be faked with make up. I dont think what you state here was in the video. But it corroborates the suspicion i had wrt her injuries. The fact she actually threatened to do that, what the ex said, already proves to me that she did it. And that shes evil. Im not allowed to say more on the topic

Yep. Modern police procedures. “Big brother is at home with you. He is installed in the item you just dragged home from the Apple Store.” I was watching a true crime story of a cold case and the detective said it was a case that took place before modern policing. No CCTV, no cellphone history, no GPS. That said people have been freed based on their GPS and cellphone data. Also some criminals who deliberately leave their phone at home or switch it off when committing a crime - that is also seen as suspicious. Why have your phone off specifically at that time?

SO SAD. ALL I HAD TO HEAR WAS 2 THINGS to KNOW SHE WAS GUILTY: ** 1- he broke up with her the day she killed him! She told her friend " she had to change his mind"...🙄 and, probably talked him into coming by. She was the abuser in the relationship and the day you choose to leave an abuser you are in BIG DANGER. I don't doubt he restrained her & bruised her arms , but she like hits him in the head with a hammer! We don't KNOW who was more physically aggressive OR who started the physical altercations. ** 2- you don't shoot someone 9, 10 or 12 TIMES in self- defense!! Usually 1 to 3 shots completely disables them if not kills them. The jury got it right.

Exactly! What if he held her arm back from hitting him while they were in bed? Then he tried to get up, she grabbed the gun, and shot him in the back as he was trying to get up and leave. She deserves an appeal because the case was mishandled but, I hope they sentence her to stay right where she is the second time around too.

If I remember correctly she had to change his mind about having her charged with assault because she did not want to lose custody of her child this is what I think I heard. I think this is why the jury should have taken a lot more time in deliberating to get things correct. Also may be she was taught to shoot may times.

This investigation was an absolute travesty. I can't be sure of her guilt or innocence because to me the shoddy investigation creates reasonable doubt. Benton fancies herself as Olivia Benson and the fedora's are so cringe. I actually hope there is an appeal heard because I think this case needs another go around before I would feel confident about her guilt.
