I met a group of people in Australia who think if you're still relying on salary after 50 years of age, you have chased wrong goals in your past life. It also means you can and need to take drastic reevaluation of your goals. They're not wrong because they're not working at the age of 55 but still making lots of money for their retirement.

If one is in Information Technology field, it is a must to keep catching new tech wave to remain relevant to the industry. If one stops learning new technologies then one becomes redundant and irrelevant given the young blood that comes into the IT. This is what has helped me remain afloat even now at 60. I advise younger ones to keep abreast with latest technologies and save as much as possible to quickly build up a corpus. If one at 40 but riding tech wave, growth is natural. This is true even at 60.

It's not about introverts can't be managers, they can be good managers if they are "interested" in managing people (let it be clients or teams) and willing to do justice to that role. As you said, those roles added fuel to your fire ,make you feel "passionate" but The thing is what about people who may have the best communication skills but don't have an inclination or "interest" in managerial or lead roles.. The main problem specially in India is you will be kind of "forced" to pick up those roles after merely 10 years of experience, some people may be fine with team member roles with salary as per it in the long run because their priorities are different and they are not keen in management roles. What do they do?

Thanks, Ajay for this wonderful podcast. And very very thankful to Anand sir for sharing precious 20 years exp. Myself Rohan and can relate lot of things in this pocast. I have 12 years of exp, working as a tech manager in Capgemini, Talwade Pune. You said good thing about tech+manager role, the company will retain them in a layoff situation. But currently, my role is 10% tech and 90%manager. My thought process is, that replacement is easy for the managerial role but replacement of a techie is a bit difficult. So doesn't matter how much you have exp 15 or 20 years, stick to the technical work and keep your hands dirty in coding. In layoffs only two kind of roles get fired 1. managers who are just managing projects (like managing cost, time, risk , budget , ) 2. folks with poor skills or having less experience 2. Second thing i can relate with introvert. Yes am also introvert but am best at my work whether it is requirement gathering, technical discussion, dealing with non technical clients. 3. Now started with learning cloud technologies and shifting percentage from 10 to 90 % in tech

All problems has one root cause "few jobs, more people are available in market to do the job". Solution: no solution as of now. If possible migrate, migrate,.... in many countries you can retire as developer, here we have pyramid structure. There is no much competition as their population is less. Even if the competition is there that is not from natives but from desis. Still people are working in legacy systems as developers...

In beginning face if you face layoff that’s okay you can easily catch another job but if you have 10 to 15 years experience it definitely tough to get in job again … because of after 12-15 years experience there many different financial responsibilities because people want to purchase house , car, and school fee. This is toughest time teaching to 40’s.

To say that after 40 life in IT comes to an end is BULLSHIT. Ageism is a reality especially in India where there are NO LAWS against discrimination on the basis of age. It’s prevalent in a small way in a hidden way in the west. But there all is not list. I personally know of people who have non technical roles as business analysts, scrum masters, scaled agile SM, agile coaches, Safe program consultants and Release train engineers WHO ARE THRIVING. Yes there’s continuous education, training and certification to keep up with the market trends, but all is not lost.

Everyone is talking about getting laidoff becuase of techology trends, no one is talking about the fact compay do lay you off if you are not fit. I have around 17 years of experience. I got seriously ill and was out of work (sick leaves) for 4 month, after recovery when i joined back I was removed from the project looking at risk, HR gave me 1 month to find another project, I found one joined that project but after one month of joinging new project put my resignation out of self respect I got 3 offers from other companies, hence point to learn is always love your job but never love your company and go into comfot zone you never know when your company will stop loving you. My skills were my job security.

Challenges after 40 - say INDIAN IT Industry. This stupid mentality is only in our country. In US, Europe people are working till age 60 in IT industry. The EXPLOITATION of 12-14 hours is not possible after 40 age. Hence, in India people cannot get an IT job after 40 (unless you are the exploitator - manager).

this CarrerTalk guy simply speaking same , trivial & commonsense thing with different words and in different Podcast. I think he is planning to retire and want to create some alternate income source. After some days he will come up with online training, coaching class etc. I am doing what is comfortable to me & not putting extra effort, still surviving in the industry more than 17 years. Guys don't take stress, just keep enjoying your work, Save and invest wisely.

Zensar has completly changed, part of it like for 9 years now it's not that good as there is not much job security l. Though I was onsite for almost 5 years. My experience was good though except once I came back and due to bad market I have to leave.

I have one question How to be smart in Organization and ensure you pick up it early rather later need to be taught I have seen many good Technical or Functional or Managment with Good heart and Souls are suppressed by Very Wrong Crucade Persons .this is Knowledge Industry although Best will raise above all How much we can avoid to handle such situations it is really not answered by any one . HOW BEST we can make Enjoyable and Joyable this IT Industry is big Question ?

I've noticed a trend where people continue coding even after 15 to 20 years of experience. In my team in the US, employees work as leads and developers until retirement.

Do not listen this kind of people at all. I have 25+ years of Experience in IT, and I recently switched to new Job in Bangalore as Senior Consultant. If I have listened this kind of negative personalities prior to my interview, I would have definitely demotivated. Just keep focus on your Technology, and be open and ready to adapt new versions. You always have better opportunities.

After three years I accepted the reality that IT person can't enjoy life, he isn't able to spend quality time with family. Other family members just see the high income of developer but they don't know the harsh truth behind the scene. I joined the industry with high income dreams living a luxury life. Now after 3 years I'm an introvert person. I have to sit almost 12 hours on the chair, I've to focus on the problems I've to answer to my boss. This the reality

Meaning no disrespect to Anand, I want to say that he's milked this "Career in IT after 40" topic enough. His own channel talks about the same and then there is a lot of generic advice, which might be useful to a few, but their career wouldn't be any further off if they don't listen to him either. If he's serious about spreading knowledge, he should be focusing on non-generic, anecdotal content, instead of saying, "this is how you should talk to your boss", "your career after 40" and stuff.

Hey brother...Im going to start dsa, I don't find any free resources with java + dsa anywhere, if its there then they aren't complete resources, But there are cpp resource available.. My question is most of the industry's highly rely on java as their codebase completely written on it, and jobs too.. So would it be worth learning dsa with cpp instead of paying course on java .... Anyone please Guide

first thing, if you are asking this question then you are not clear about dsa, dsa is language independent, second you can easily ask chatgpt to translate c++ code to java.

@@varunaggarwal7126 Thankyou...I know dsa is independent but What I want to ask is that would it be better knowing dsa in Java? so when I dig deeper I'll be more thorough to solve problems in java so I'll be having good hold on to the concepts and better at problem solving! say for java developer roles, So if that's what I want my thought is that why you want to do it in cpp, If your problem solving skills would go better with java+dsa.. And you have ample of opportunities with java as most companies work in areas of enterprise application/products rather embedded software.. Interest is another matter but I'm talking in general
