Great place,great people.Have been their customer for 30 years.They have always been good to me and my family.Akbar Bhai and Ahmad Bhai have always been humble and respectful.

Been going there for last 2 decades at least. Never faced any issue. Never witnessed any rude behavior. The staff is always very respectful and cooperative. The no-bags inside stores is a widely common practice in majority of big stores and rightly so. There are people who like to pick stuff up for free and it is difficult for staff to keep watch on all the customers in such big places. Shopping bags are being sold on all big stores not only in Pakistan but other western countries as well. Now to the main issue! It is a well-known fact that Saeed Book Bank sells original copies. They are expensive as majority of them are sold in dollars or pounds. There is no reason or right for anyone to expect them to sell original prints on low price. Don't go there if you don't want to buy expensive books. But you have no right to defame anyone just to get people's attention. Social media is a blessing if used in a right way but sadly, people with complexes use it to boost their low self-esteem and damage reputation of others. Get a life, people!

Saeed book bank used to be in main saddar opposite London book bank. In peshawar. Later they shifted to Islamabad.It was my favorite place to visit and as a child and then later on I have bought lots and lots of books for myself and my kids from Saeed book bank. ❤

We have only one proper bookstore in Pakistan. It is always a pleasure to visit. I spend two hours on average on each visit. They do not sell pirated books. All over the world, big stores have a policy of no return. Late Saeed Sb could have built a shopping plaza here but he shifted from Peshawar to open Islamabad. The kind of hurdles he faced were insurmountable. Once Saeed Book Bank is closed nobody will even think of opening another Saeed Book Bank.

Being a regular customer of Saeed book bank, Islamabad my full support to Saeed Book Bank. Any unique book, not available anywhere in Pakistan, you can get from this book shop. If anything not available in their stock, they can arrange in limited time period. No ordinary book shop have any competitions with it. Price is proportional to time and quality service.

I am 60 year old bibliophile and I have been visiting Saeed Book bank since my school days, from class 5 onwards (1974-1977) at Arbab Road Peshawar. Saeed Sahib and his children are one of rare proper bookstore in Pakistan. I think there is communication error at staff level. It seems matter has been blown beyond proportion by chattering social media. May Allah bless Saeed sahib and his children with peace and may they continue this great service to public.

I have been going to Saeed Book Bank since 1960’s in Peshawar. I was able to find a book for a friend in Karachi from Saeed Book Bank in Islamabad as he could not find it in Karachi.

..i always go to saeed books whenever i am in islamabad. its an amazing place. prices are indeed high beacuase those are original titles. the print quality speaks for itself. no second hands books. i have also seen people trying to steal books from there store which is shameful. Will continue to visit saeed books with my family. Also no doubt people can get copies or used books from used books shop if they cannot afford original copies. knowledge knows no bounds.

سب سے پہلے تو جوتوں کافی اور کتابوں کا اپس میں مقابلہ بنتا ہی نہیں مجھ جیسے کتابوں کے شوقین لوگ بہت سی ایسی کتابیں ان کو حسرت سے دیکھ کر واپس ا جاتے ہیں کہ خرید کی پہنچ سے دور ہیں کتابوں کی قیمتوں کے اضافے میں بہت سے کتابوں کے شوقین لوگوں کو ان سے دور کر دیا ہے جن میں سے ایک ہم بھی ہیں

بہت اچھا تجزیہ کیا آپ نے شکریہ ۔۔۔ جہاں تک سعید بک کے عملے کی سختی کا سوال ہے یا کتب کی قیمت کا سوال ہے تو کاپی اور اورجنل کا خیال رکھیں اور کہاں سے خرید رہے ہیں اس کا بھی کتب کا ایک ہی جگہ اتنا بڑا زخیرہ موجود ہے پورے شہر میں اس کو بھی بدنام کرنے کا فائدہ نہیں بلکہ کتب بینی سے نوجوان نسل کو دور کیا جا رہا یے ایک فیصد لوگ بھی اس ملک میں کتب بینی نہیں کرتے بس رونا رویا جاتا ہے۔۔۔ ٹرینڈ چلایاں آواز اٹھائیں ان وجوہات کے خلاف جن کی وجہ سے کتب مہنگی ہیں اور عوام ایک کتاب تک نہیں خرید سکتے مہنگاۂی ، کرپشن، ڈالڑ کی قیمت ، انفلیشن اور ایسے تمام مسائل پر جو قوت خرید کی کمی کی وجہ ہیں شکریہ

There is only one book shop in Islamabad where you can find any book and get the same at reasonable price. If we continue screwing this book store the way many criticize right now. We will be left with food street and butt karahi only. We have already divorced education, reading and learning from our lives that's why we as a nation are at the top from the bottom in everything.

Saeed book bank had its humble beginnings in Peshawar Sadar in the 60s. The original Mr Saeed. was a low grade employe. of another great bookstore in Peshawar. the London Book Company. He then struck out on his own right across the street from the Original store. and started a small cubby hole. of a bookstore. in the 60s. I and my brother. frequented it during our student days. And all through my university years. I was happy to see Saeed Book Bank surface in F 7 in Islamabad. I met The original owner now. an old man And although he recognize me he did not show a jot of recognition. The attitude of his sons. in this store is bad. Saeed book tank. is a good place but needs to be rescued from these rude guys who have no concept of. running a store such as this with courtesy and politeness to their customers.

I faced the same situation at Saeed Book bank. I did not return the book because of price but I was travelling overseas and weight limit did not let me carry all the books. So, when I went to return books, after a few hours, they just refused to take the books back. But, I explained my situation and then they accommodated my request.

Every time I am in Islamabad, I do make sure I visit this vast book store, usually I do end up finding what I am looking for, nice place but the people behind the cash counter are very rude and totally unhelpful, although the staff on the upper floor selling Urdu books are very helpful. I do agree with your opinion about this store. " Disgusting"!

Original books are found in Saeed Book Bank and so the price is different. And once bought, the books can't be returned on the pretext that the same books are found cheap elsewhere, this is no valid excuse for returning books. This man who bought the books and then wanted to return should have gone to old book store, there are plenty there in Pindi/ Isl.

If it's written on the bill, that items once sold cannot be returned, has no case, no reason and the buyer has agreed upon that at the time of purchase. What Arifa Apa has stated is absolutely correct, and you comparing apple with orange clearly shows your understanding about intellectual arguments and examples. If you don't like it, don't buy it from there, like the guy said, you aren't being forced to buy.

In American schools, 5th, 6th graders are required to READ 5 books per week (100-200 pages each of their age group, clearly marked) while in Pakistan, ONE book of each subject in a whole YEAR.

We like Western / UsA system which you can return any item within one month including books . Saeed Book Bank must display the competitive price in the vicinity as well as in same city. 2.we should promote reading of books by our youngsters

I used to visit Saeed book bank when it was in Peshawar. My father literally used to spend 2-3 hours a day at Saeed book bank and London book Peshawar. He bought thousands of books from them, they would often give discounts to him, they often have books to him on loan. I don't agree with the story told by Osman Khwaja seems shady. Saeed book bank have spent decades to become what it is today, it used to be a small shop on Arbab Road Peshawar. I wish then all the best.

Baig sahab saeed bank was located at famous Arbab road saddar bazar and not in qissa khawani. Pl: correct. Both Akbar and Ahmed had been very gentle and fine students of P.A.F college Peshawar.They are genuine and honest people .In my child hood and later as a teacher I had been their regular customer , and they always paid due respect to us. As far as discount is concerned they had always given a 20 percent discount to oue school and college libraries. We nevervhad any complaint against them. They are thorough gentlemen and were always helpful in seach of the books we required. Pl: dont try to defame Saeed book bank. Its the only hope for the book lovers like us.

In this shop they have books sealed in plastic bags, one is unable to open and look inside ....and this is now routine for all book sellers... But return of the books is followed all over Pakistan, expect this place ...which is not good for them. But they are least bothered, they are a filthy rich party. Loss of a customer is nothing to them...

Saeed Book Bank is an attraction in Islamabad for book lovers. Unfortunately, the book reading is getting faded away. If such a malicious trend is supported, it would be discouraging for the management of a book store. I totally, disagree with the blogger for promoting this trend

They might be selling it at a higher price but they are right to some extent. We can get pirated copies of every book in Pakistan at a fraction of price of the original. If one wants a cheaper pirated copy of a book, then he should not go to Saeed Book Bank.

I used to go there all the time but my recent visit to saeed book was very disappointing. They overcharge you and I saw one woman doing bargaining with them but to me, he charged me fixed price. Their staff was also very rude. They also don’t want to take credit card and always ask for cash. It appears they charge you tax but don’t want to pay tax to the government.

Pirated books are the best. Yes, one can say that this is academic dishonesty but honesty does not fill your stomach and enlighten your mind (by buying orignal books). Why would a sane person buy a orignal book for 3k when you can have it in 3-5 hundrad. Why to give insane profits to a chain.

have you even watched the whole video? they are importing a book and selling it on a fair price. They can't sell an imported book for 500 rs. the other book store was selling a pirated copy for lesser prixe

A few books were bought at an overpriced rate, and then the buyer checked the same books from another store where they were selling at a fairly lower price. When they got caught, they refused to take the books back. I mean, what a joke! If they claim they are selling at fair prices and someone has proof they are fooling people, why are people like you defending them? This should be brought to court instead for first overcharging people and then not taking the books back. Regarding your private copy argument, that's just propaganda by the bookstore. It's like a guy with a big store saying, "Hey, I'm selling the original copy," and accusing others of cheating. What a third-class argument this is!

Come on quite bias video against Saeed book. I am also employee of publishing company and we also have a no return and exchange policy. This video encouraging piracy. How come one person buying original book from Saeed book and then visit other store and want to buy pirated title. There is lots of things involve in procuring original title.
