Time for the first service on the S65, What does it cost to service a V12 Mercedes? I was very curious and it actually cost more than I thought.

@@chrisjoe187 Finding a reputable Mercedes outside ( or inside) of the dealership is hard. I got lucky with one that work on more cars that he can count on, and charges pretty low for the work. Had a Mercedes dealership tell me I had a bad Airmatic bag, when it was a bad valve solenoid. $800 plus labor vs the $60, and a hour of my time.

Hi Mike, I have an S600 V12 and I have an indy do my oil changes. I bring 10 quarts of Mobile 1 ($75 on ebay), he orders the oil filter, and only charges me $50. Whenever I have to take it to the MB dealer, I never get out of there for less than $350. They call it an A service.

A couple inch smaller wheels and a little thicker sidewall tire would make the ride at least 6-7x better imo. And no bent wheels 😊
@gottliebdee263
@gottliebdee263 6 ай бұрын
Sort of, that's only part of the problem. Seems the previous owner went for the 'Euro look', where the tyre is stretched to fit the rim. The wheel simply needs to be wider. After getting the right size wheel, (or tyre), then you can look at side wall height. Unless wheel width and not diameter was what you were talking about.

Size does not mater on the 2 & 4 door from my experience and feed back from friends that sell & fix wheels. My W221 S65 4 door amg factory wheels bent so many times even trying to avoid pot hols, I went to 3 pice wheels and happened less but still happened. Bloody hell !! I’ve an AUDI and I bought a service plan. I looked around at non dealers and they are cheaper but not by a significant amount. Plus AUDI were doing a 25% off service plans, so I could see straight up what I was paying and I took that. I’m very pleased as I’ve had 2 services over 3 years on the plan and there’s no quibbling or worrying about huge additional costs. I go in, am treated like a king, and I say please just do the service as per plan and they do that. I do get a web based “do you want this”. So what I mean is I get a message and clicking on it, it opens a browser with a guy with camera showing me the wheels, engine, underside from a ramp and then options like pad renewal or brake fluid replacement with the price and buttons to accept or decline. If I accept then I’m taken to payment screen, but equally I can decline and take to local mechanic. So very impressed as when you return you’ve already paid upfront in the plan and you just drive away

Hi Mike, in the UK the Service A is the basic service ( oil and filter change, fluid levels, brake inspection) The Service B is the same but adds a cabin filter replacement and a brake fluid change ( every 2 years 20,000 miles) So I would question the fact that they charged you additionally for the brake fluid change as it is included in the Service B. You would think their service schedules would be the same the world over?......Coolest S65 I've ever seen, you've done an awesome job.

If you look at the rear tire with the fender on the driver side at 8:51 and then the passenger side at 8:54, you can clear as day see the bottom of the wheel is sticking out wayyyyy further than the fender. Could just be the angle but still worth checking out because you may still be wearing the inside of the tire on the passenger side.👍🏾

Here a little tip from someone whos worked at a dealership or 2 . If you have to take your car to the dealership , there's always wiggle room on the out the door cost. Normally alot of parts are overpriced sometimes the price is jacked up 4x the amount the dealership spends on the actual part. Hence why the key fob was 2x times the amount and they were willing to sell it at cost to him. So qork with your sevice writter and ask them can they get whatever you're trying to get done for a couple hundred dollars less. You'd be surprised what they can do. Most of the time they discoutn the parts and sometimes they will discount the shop rate and parts. Ive worked at nissan, toyota and audi, and all has been the same. Alao i still get my "employee"/ freinds &family discount when i have to buy parts for my lexus ,scion ,or mt acura . Ive never worked at honda or acura but i ask for that discount and always get it. Just a fyi

Nordic countries pay 8-11€ (9-12 USD) for a gallon. In Finland if you would have bought this AMG S 65 Coupe new it would have cost 660 000€ ($700 000) because every car that costs more than about 180 000€ and above, the tax is the same as the price of the car so the final price for a €180k car is €360k And the Netherlands and Norway or Denmark have it even worse.

Changer oil AFTER a long road trip. The heat from the ride will clean the existing oil of water and fuel, then the oil will clean the engine internals. Even then after a point I had to pay out of pocket and its not cheep even with a discount. Some reason they love to bend wheels regardless of size or brand. At one point I keep looking for a well optioned 2 door W222 but was even harder than the 4 door.

Those prices the dealer charged you: are not bad. I drive a much older, far less expensive german car & my oil changes cost me around $160 when it's all said & done. That's not at the dealer either: this is me buying my own special oil and filter _at Jiffy Lube_ *** Now granted I live in the SF Bay Area and being on the East Coast might actually be a little cheaper than out here because...well hell your 3K miles closer to Germany than we are. KEY FOB - that is actually a good deal in that it's consistent / normal. For my car - again it's older than your neighbor's college kids - a key fob reprogrammed at the dealer (the only place to do that) is roughly the same. So all told: what you spent is not bad! Considering cost of oil per qt and how much a V12 needs, the basic parts cost, and the brake fluid service (probably over kill at 5K miles - I would have done it at 10K miles) I was a little surprised that it was as low as it was. *Yacht* *Radio* is just Van Halen in rehab, Cirrus XM doesn't have a lot of GenX working there otherwise their station names would be more accurate. Interesting video - thanks for sharing! -Chris / on my 3rd E46 in 8 years

When you own a luxury car, especially one that is German-made, you better have a luxury income, and be prepared to throw a lot of money down the drain...I know someone who purchased a new S580 and after 1 year, he regretted every cent he paid for that depreciating asset. He had several issues within the first 6 months...he eventually got rid of it and purchased a new Lexus L460, always a top-rated automobile...a car he said he should've purchased in the first place. He's had it a couple of years now and no issues whatsoever.

The price for the key seems a little rich. In 2011, I bought a used C230 Kompressor Sport Coupe which came with only one key. To buy a new one, I had to take a Friday off work and drive to my nearest dealer which is 300-ish Km (186 miles) south of me. I had to provide proof of ownership and sign documentation authorizing my intent to purchase a new key. This key was programmed in Germany, and took two weeks for delivery at the dealership. Once it arrived, I drove back to pick it up and verify that it worked. They wouldn't ship it to me, for obvious reasons. The key fob itself cost me C$300, plus C$75 for the steel part of the key.

Just future reference for a key fob. You don't have to go to Mercedes Dealership and pay that extra $$$ for a fob. Most locksmiths can get and program a key fob for much less. And as for oil changes, I know the AMG is quite a bit more, but I'd use a 3rd party mechanic that deals with Mercedes. Don't use the dealership for that. I pay $150 for a type A service on my 2014 E350 coupe at a local shop that works with BMW, Audi, Mercedes etc. Rather taking to a dealer and paying twice as much.

It was $180 for oil and $400 for labor. That’s ridiculous. FCP euro gets you free oil and it takes an hour to do in the garage. Dealers are a rip of.

My father is a mechanic he bought a brand new truck from the dealer and voided his warranty because he never went back for servicing, they rip u off big time, i've never let no one do any any work on my vehicles beside me even when changing tyres i put them in the truck bed because i've seen how tight they torque down the wheel studs making it impossible to remove by hand

600$ for oil change is a big rip off. No other fluids should need topping of since nothing should get used/burned in a sealed container, except for winshield fluid which u can do your self.

Just for comparison. I paid 620 euros for a normal service with oil, filters and brake fluid change for a 2019 C300 in Germany. Converted to dollars it would be about the same. The same service for the S65 AMG would be significantly more expensive in Germany than here in the States.

1,1xx bucks for this Service (incl. 2nd key) is "ok". That was not a big Service. If all comes together, with New plugs, it will go over 2k. Not to mention New brake pads and discs.

C class is made in Alabama and the E class is Made in Germany 🇩🇪 and as such have much less electrical problems after 4 years old. They should call the E350 the E200 as it’s got only a 4 cylinder 2.0 engine 😂

The easiest way of telling a C, E, and an S is by the amount of "strips" or "led light lines" in the headlights. C=1, E=2, S=3 lines. Another way of telling is by simply looking at the infotainment system the C even the previous gen never had the wide screen setup that got carried down onto the E from the old S.

You are comparing a Chrysler security fob to a Mercedes one. There is a reason Chargers, and Challengers get stolen more often than Mercedes. The encryption is pretty heavy on MB fobs.

It’s not just an oil change they do. Also right tools and correct torque specs make a huge difference. A service is 250. Just oil. They do a lot more on a B.

Yeah, that key program is a 10 minute operation. They let your car sit in the bay for an hour. I had an S55 Amg and had a warranty and an extended warranty. Those A and B services are basic things they charge you 175-200 per hour to do.

I have a 2017 S550 AMG and I do mostly all the work myself cuz I'm a mechanic but it can be very very costly but I would recommend going back to the stock suspension it's going to ride better and it's already lowered and it's going to handle amazing anyway it's not like you're going on the racetrack it's really not necessary the car is low already and you got low profile tires so it's running rough you spending more gas and you're going to continue to Bend Rims cuz you got low profile tires but it's a beautiful car that the color of the wrap is really nice

Should I sell my 2015 s550? Parking button went out on it, sunroof has an issue. It's not much for 4k miles I've put on it but it's starting to get annoying. I wanna step down to an E class again but I don't wanna regret my decision either. It's a head turner and it hasn't cost me much but am a bit concerned.

The E-class is a step down no matter what Mercedes you have they all have a little bit of tweak of an issue you might save a little bit more gas but the S550 overall is a better car better engine at the air suspension and it's more classy and it's more roomy it basically depends on what you like if you're going to step down cuz you're worried about course it doesn't matter they both have a little bit issues to me to ask class is a better vehicle the interior is better you have the massage seats everything in the car is so much more luxury and it writes a lot better and where are you going to get a car with that type of luxury for the price that you could get them for now the reason why the price is drop on them is closed they make all their money off the leases so they dropped the prices on purpose it's a car for Prestige you're talking 130,000 car when it was brand new go try to buy that car brand new you couldn't do it so if you could have a 2015 or 17 for anywhere to price range of $25,050 000 according to the mileage it's definitely worth the money with the s550s you have to make sure that you change the transmission fluid every 50,000 miles and do a tune-up on the car change the plugs the wires in the coils at 100,000 MI and you're good you got to keep up with the maintenance on them

Welcome to the world of Mercedes ownership. I had a 2016 E350 for a number of years and loved it but maintenance is expensive. When you hit 50K miles, every yearly/10k mile service has an additional service besides the regular A/B oil/filter service. At 50K it requires new plugs and some other minor items. At 60K it requires a transmission service, etc. For a V12 I imagine the services cost much more than a V6. I think doing all the services will greatly prolong the life of the car but it will definitely cost you.
