Little trick that I do, very gently with a pair of scissors trim round the top side of the filter, makes it drop in a treat!

Thanks for the video. Laying the bike on its side for the oil fill was a great idea as well.

@@mike300406 The oil fill hole is super tiny and hard to get to. I use a syringe to fill it when not changing the filter.

Would be nice to see a video on how you clean your bike after a ride. Loving these!

Cheers dude! Yes will hopefully do a video covering that in the future.

Thanks for the helpful video, I saw on a video that you can file the filter, being careful to not get any metal shavings in the filter. A video on bleeding the clutch would help also.
@RealLifeGadgetReviews4 жыл бұрын
Yeah saw that too, dont really fancy that, I mean its awkward, but actually possible with no filing.

There’s a spring on the back of the oil filter that should be put in again. The manual states to apply a bit of grease on the filter at the engine side. No need to unscrew any parts from the cover. If you disconnect the two plugs (alternator, ignition pulse generator). you can take the cover to a desk and get it cleaned up nicely before putting on the new gasket.

Very helpful, thanks! I need to do mine (second hand - no manual!), so great to see some issues you encountered/solved. They're nicely engineered, but I'm baffled as to why the filter isn't more accessible. Oil/filter change is the life blood for a 4T - it should be as quick as possible. I can see people skipping the filter change... But not me, no no ;)

Great vid, another problem people have is the skid plate being bent out of shape from hitting rocks. This is why they put an aftermarket one on.

thanks for video, can you do a video about change oil gearbox?
@zombiewoof52573 жыл бұрын
Good instruction video. Only two remarks: Don't leave the engine cover dangling on the electric wires from the generator if you don't unplug the wires, hang it up with a piece of string or some wire. Also to be clear: @20:00 The dipstick shouldn't be screwed in when measuring the oil level. (it would be nice if you could pin this comment to the top, or mention it in the discription of the video)

Great vídeo. The first about montesa oil change! Thanks Shouldn't all the crank case screws be torqued to 22 nm too?
@RealLifeGadgetReviews5 жыл бұрын
VM DC no problem. Possibly, but doesn’t mention it in the step by step in the official manual (it mentions the sump/drain plug torque) but not those. Hope the vide helps!
@rocketpac4 ай бұрын
No! I almost made that mistake and caused some damage. M6 bolts (left-hand crank case cover bolts) max torque 10 N meters.

Hey wouldn’t it have been a good idea to change the gearbox oil at the same time? 🤔 if you move the pickup wire from the bottom on the rectifier before removing the cover you’ll be much less likely to rip the gasket. Congrats on a great purchase 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@RealLifeGadgetReviews4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it did cross my mind, but being essentially brand new AND mainly because I wanted to stick to the video title I just did the oil. Maybe next time a gear box oil change video ha ha 😬

10Nm for the case cover screws and 22Nm for the oil drain screw.
