@AJ P I somewhat agree there but that's a risk. Promotion works sometimes but his problem was lack of ability to produce. Not get customers. He will ruin his business even faster if he has to tell people no because he can't handle the orders. Especially big names. They wont call twice. With Touker he could handle twice as much and I'm sure if they had large orders or blew up... Touker would accommodate.

@AJ P It depends what he's after. If it's just cash he needs, there are far more suitable places to go. The whole point of the show (and its celebrities) is that they also get a whole lot of hand holding along the way. By the look of this guy's company valuation and turnover projections, it's hand holding he needs, much more than a 50 grand cash injection. Put yourself in the shoes of a self made millionaire, would _you_ get out of bed for less than 20%? Keep in mind that any return you see on your 50k is only ever going to come out of the net profit, proportioned at the % equity you own (so at 5%, 100k net profit gets you 5k in dividends), until you decide your work is done and sell your shares. I get that 35% is a big chunk, but I'm willing to bet Touker would gladly have agreed to sell back a significant fraction of his equity at the original rate/valuation once the business takes off. He didn't. Even. Ask. I get that being on national television is a big marketing boost, but the boy needs help and unless he gets it, he can quite easily make a mistake that costs him the whole business. Also keep in mind what Peter said, someone with the facilities and capital could drive him out of the market *tomorrow*

I believe the problem with this guy is its cheese cakes are artisanal and fancy so uses high quality expensive ingredients, the cost can be higher than normal. Not everyone has a sweet tooth, even in children so if you cant attract a good chunk of a foodie consumer the high cost of your cakes will overwhelm your sales or just reach breakeven

Duo - considering nearly £40 worth ingredients and workmanship - it probably tastes as good as it looks. And it looks fab. Tertio- this product is obviously well above your means, therefore you are not the target customer. No big harm to the company :-)

Like the above comments, the guy should have accepted beyond his 10% and maybe offered like 25-30% instead. However, he has no background in business so it didnt cross his mind to counter offer.

I 100% agree with you I.Cruz. I was baffled when he refused Toukers offer. Myself, I'd rather get rich from 5% of a successful company than to be poor owning 95%. Also, with those crazy prices he is charging for his cakes, it's only a matter of time before Aldi or Lidl sell 1 for £2-£3 and then he is done.

We have a system where i worked that Toyota sold it for 6 million to each company that bought it and they didn't even try it or used it them self. The ide was just worth 6 million to who ever buy it. Of course Touker can offer more than just his cash, but that doesn’t mean he should accept. 35% is a huge amount of equity, which he may never be able to get back, or not for any reasonable price. However, he can probably find another investor who’s willing to give the same cash for a smaller equity chunk, which of course means he has room in cash he has cash-flow issues further down the line, as the Dragons said. Additionally, he turned over 160k in his first year of trading with no expert advice. If he has the cash, he seems more than able to produce results.

Absolute garbage. The success rate of the companies that the Dragons invest in is relatively small. Touker's first business basically led him to bankruptcy because he tried to expand too soon. People assume that having a Dragon invest equates to success. This guy had that right idea in maintaining control of his company. He's still trading now.

Touker's offer may sound tempting but a share that high on a business that is still budding is too high
