So there is one smart feature which I really like in the DCS launcher since the update, it may not be a big deal for the folks who have a lot of disk space, but for those who always struggle with avialable space this may be a functionality which is awesome for DCS world. That is the ability to add remove installed modules without having to go into dcs, a small change but a great change.
Thanks to ‪@RedStarDCS‬ he asked the question and I was thinking should I break down the new features of the launcher.

Best part is that you can choose to start DCS in VR or on full screen

For me the best part is being able to choose display type before loading the game. I have 4 different configurations with multiple monitors and VR.

Nice that's a really good use case I did not think of but yeah switching between desktop and vr mode is a great one

if you switch between vr and flatscreen a lot the launcher system settings is the best update. Been waiting for this for a long time natively.

"Disable Launcher" is the best part.

the question for me is, how to reverse that, once you disabled it. could be great, if that would be a part of the video, too

@@viper31stvfw86 You can re-enable it within the game under settings. I dig the launcher, but I swap VR & standard all the time. Great for that...

Also, the ability to browse servers from the launcher would streamline my whole DCS experience!

What I really want is the ability to enable and disable my 3rd party mods from the launcher, so that I can skip all of the file folder dance of pulling files and putting them away manually. This makes it awesome for joining servers that have unique mod requirements.

As someone who frequently switches from VR to monitor this is actually very usefull, as I'd allways needed a DCS restart to change my settings. Also always hated the way that the game wound auto-start (IN ST of all things!!!) after an update, I hope this does away with that too.

Yup didn't realize so many folks flew dual mode, in our squad it's usually only vr guys or only monitor guys maybe one or two use both on same pc. But yup valid function 👍👍

@@plazma1945 I imagine it won't be as frequently used, but the ability to install and de-install modules without DCS restarting on you each time, is also a win in my book.

As far as the "Launcher is dumb, no one wanted or asked for it" opinions, My app has a combined 500K downloads since September last year alone. So clearly people want to be able to configure their DCS Options before launching DCS, Especially VR.

The ability to install modules is a game changer, as is the ability to nicely do cleanups and repairs. It is a great addition to DCS and has been needed for YEARS. It would be great to have a Peripherals check would be super handy.

And and mod support, please add this on my channel in community section I created a whish list area that's a great one. Not sure if it can poll the devices before the launch tho

You could already install modules in game before. In what aspect is this better?

@@Youda00008 ahh so. everytime you have to add or remove you need to restart dcs, this way you can do the install or uninstall without actually going in and waiting for dcs to open and the close.. so its a nice thing. also, lets say you need to fly missions and you need a certain map but you dont have enough space, with this thing you can remove one map, add another map and then start dcs.. which is actually convenient so that benefit i can tottaly see

But you can normally remove modules and maps at the home page. It’s all redundant.

Sometimes my external monitor for my MFDs wig out so this might be a nice way for me to revert settings on startup. But right now it turns on easy comms every time so disabling it til that's fixed. Unrelated, is there a Russian equivalent of the Topgun movie from the USSR? It is OK if the acting is bad and special effects don't hold up, I'm in it for Sukhoi/MiGs and cheezy 80s action.

First thing i did was disable the launcher. Second was fix the setting that were messed up.

1:15 I completely disagree. Being able to change settings without having to load the game, change, and reload is absolute gold for me. I often switch between vr and flat. This is why i had been using the skatezilla launcher for so long.

Game is way more unstable now woth their new UI at the start of MP. Unit selection is way laggy and something isnt right that causes a lot of crashes.

It doesn't seem to add any real value and just slows things down by adding extra clicks.

Well adding modules is useful and possibly for those with vr and without, other are some. Guys who do both types of flights this is a kce setup. But overall until mod enablement support is added it's not quite fully fleshedd out
