I love the analogy of clothing having lives! That makes it so much easier when sorting out your wardrobe/closet!!! Out of lives = game over for that item of clothing!

As a fashionista for nearly three decades, I’ve been THAT guy. Everything classy, tailored to a tee, but always had a touch of edge from the streetwear front. But after finally embracing and refining the oversized look, my go to hoodies breaks almost every single rule mentioned! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve held on to my perfectly fitting hoodies. But right now, they’re gathering dust at the moment. Call it a phase, but ultimately I encourage everyone to wear whatever expresses your personality!

Thank you for sharing details about statement hoodies in the streetwear context. Many menswear folks would just call that a "nope" and move on, but I think it's key to help understand how those fit in and how you can style them well. Knowing how to style loud hoodies will also help us understand why those won't work well in a classic menswear context.

My personal favourite hoody layering option is wearing a thin ribbed turtleneck underneath and a long coat or a plaid shirt over it - great for long walks in fall and winter! It seems to always work if the hoodie and turtleneck is the same color and the overcoat is an opposite color or muted, and if the hoodie is black the overcoat uses red, brown and orange colors. Also, learn color theory for painters, specifically color keying. I swear it helps.

Layering a hoodie under a nice jacket is the classic Midwestern winter move. I love a leather jacket or a puffy down jacket. And a hoodie as the main top is perfect for those breezy 70 degrees or below summer nights. I think that the north face makes the best hoodies. I have had several over the years and they are fantastic quality and so comfortable, more casual style for the most part and they usually have branding on them.

Glad you made this video Mr. Antonio. Recently moved from the desert of Las Vegas, NV, where the rule of thumb in my social circle was to dress to impress in the warm weather. Now I live in a certain city in the Pacific Northwest where it seems no one has much, if any class or fashion sense. With a body fat percentage in the tens, it is hard to keep warm. I am a freelancer working at home, so wanting to dress 'old money' but find the hoodie to be the easiest and most practical way to go. Thanks again for 'permission' to pull this off. :)

I own quite a few hoodies. I really like them for casual wear, specially those of a good brand like MK (it's mustard! and I love it; got it in London) and Polo RL (plain grey but people can see some quality in it). In the end, it all comes down to the basics: fit, fabric, function, plus situation and don't over fucking do the hoodie style.

Just got into hoodies and really enjoy wearing them. My favorite is the synthetic blend by Reiss. They have a great color palette and looks great dressed up or dressed down. Great video!

My favorite brand of hoodies is from a company called the Normal brand. Their pricey but they have hoodies in 100 percent cotton with metal caps on the end of draw strings to keep them from wearing out. Also faded hoodies actually look good as long as they don't have white spots on them

Great Video ! I love hoodies so let me make a suggestions based on what I do to make my hoodies look more fashion forward and it elevated the look . I only wear solid colors and make the strings even and then I lightly tie the strings . I do not tie them tight or in a bow just a loose knot. TRY IT OUT and look 👀it elevates your look.

Love hoodies, wear them almost every day for about 9 months of the year. Tommy Hilfiger and Polo RL are my go-tos. Especially love Polo double-knit hoodies. Not too heavy, not too light.

Not too used to “dressier” hoodies, but you can never go wrong with a Champion Reverse Weave; hoodie, crewneck, sweatpants, etc. It takes a lot to wear champion reverse weave garments down

I have 3 hoodies: One navy blue and one grey from Ralph Lauren, I like them because they have no big logos, and the fit and materials are nice. Also, a black cashmere one from Banana Republic that was ridiculously expensive, but looks great 😅

i have 2 hoodies i wear the most: a simple lightweight Goodfellow hoodie from Target in black and grey two-tone. perfect for those fall or spring months where its not too cold but not warm either. then i got a pull-over Champion hoodie which is a warmer material, and since it is all black with no printing and a tiny logo embroidered on the left breast, i usually wear it dressed up with my Ralph Lauren peacoat or my old custom tailored 100% cashmere coat i got handed down to me from a family friend who moved who THANKFULLY has the same proportions as me. That cashmere coat i try to take good care of as well, as u dont find 100% cashmere jackets these days unless u go thrift store hunting and even then, good luck finding it in a size that fits. But that coat combo with my Champion Hoodie in the winter is my Go-To outfit when its cold but not snmowy or rainy.

I recently bought a pullover hoodie from fresh clean threads. It was on sale, made the fit is excellent

I have this blue Weatherproof brand jacket with a detachable hoodie and zipper closure. Tbh, it didn't look good with the hoodie on, so I took it off and I lost it. But the important part is that the jacket is waterproof, warm, and is a windbreaker. That jacket lasted 10 years and was worn out of it's old structure(looks flimsy now) because that time I didn't know how to properly take care of those kinds of materials/fabric. It got ruined by washing too often over the years and by accidentally using fabric softener. Too much washing also removed it's waterproof coating and destroyed it's inner linning that prevented water from going through. After 10 years, I decided to buy a black replacement jacket from Giordano, with the same qualities as my old jacket. This one has a non detachable hoodie but still looks good. I love how I can just shake the droplets of rain that gets collected on it's outershell. The fitting is sleek and still easy to move. There's also a lot of pockets 3 outside and 2 inside the jacket. It's kinda thin but it's warm because it has a fleece inner lining. The outer part is made with 100% polyester, anti-wrinkle, and with both zipper and button closure. I love to pair it with my cargo shorts, buttoned down polo shirt, and Adilette sandals from Adidas on rainy days. It also looks good with chinos and long sleeve polos. It's perfect for rainy and cold days. 😊👍

The champion reverse weave is my go to. 12oz 80% cotton. Med under coats/jackets etc, large fits baggy. I’ve found them on sale $15.

Weatherwool is my favorite, they call it hardcore luxury. A durable forever item highly worth the cost.

I'm a firm believer in the custom hoodie. It has graphics if you want, but you can have one made that makes sure you're the only one who owns one like it. Favorite album covers work great. You can have them done mail order with The Evil Empire, but it might take a hit or miss or two before you get the hang of buying. It might be heavy on the pocket at first, but over time, that's the way to go in my judgment.

I own 3 knitwear hoodies, and that wool material with the hood really helps to dress up the look.

this usually works for me. Neutral sportcoat, dark jeans, complimetary colored hoodie. ex. Dark blue jeans, or light blue jeans (don't @ me, Antonio), maroon, close fitting hoodie, dark gray, or mid gray sportcoat.

My favorite hoodies the helikon Tex Rogue in Multicam black and their hoodie classic. Otherwise the woodies from Urban knife fighting because I train it.

I got a hoodie from Relwen. Thick cotton, great construction, fits close to the body so it looks quite neat. Worth checking out from a quality standpoint. Biggest complaint is that the hood is a little too deep so it can look awkward when up.

What's the brand of the high-quality material hoodie with top light brown buttons? There are two shown in the image, so probably two different brands.

Couple of points that are personal. A. No graphics, B. No pull overs. I have two hoodies they both have zipper fronts (personal preference) which are only worn when I go to the gym or a situation where sportswear is appropriate.

I wish someone would make a hooded rain/bad weather coat/jacket that is lighter than a parka or duffel coat that is also kind of somewhat in a classic style. The big problem with the classic style outerwear for bad weather is that you need an umbrella or hat for your head. If I'm just running in and out of my car or into a store (especially) I don't want to have to lug around an umbrella and hat.

I have a zipper hoodie from Tom Taylor that I really like.

I, as citizen of Germany, count on the TRIGEMA brand, as I support quality materials, for long lasting clothing. I wear piquet t-shirts of this brand on a daily basis, they are now four years in my possession, they never shrunk and colours are still acceptable. The products are made to last, coloured and sewn in Germany. The backside of the medal, it's pricey...but worth it.

As a blue collar worker I only wear hoodies at work which i enjoy. At 42 I stopped wearing hoodies in social settings

You may answer this question elsewhere, but it seems that you don't advocate the layering of a hoodie with a leather jacket. That makes me wonder what you think of these leather jackets with hoods on them. Is it still a no-no? If I like the jacket, should I just make sure the hood is detachable? The same question re: shirts with hoods attached.

I personally can’t stand Bape and their style, but I can understand why people like it and why it’s been so popular for so long. Since you’ve mentioned Supreme, I’ve always liked their pullover hoodies specifically. The hood is a bit smaller but not tight, drawstrings are closer together and looks really good tied, and they’re pretty heavy (at least the winter ones). When I’m skateboarding, it’s one of the few where the hood actually stays on when I have it up, without having to tie it super tight. By the way, Supreme looks boring inside compared to Bape l because it’s supposed to look like a clean skateshop and all of the best stuff is usually already gone. I’ve had plenty of other hoodies from other brands, but Supreme (for as much love and hate they get) probably makes my favorite. And their button up shirts/flannels actually fit on top of their hoodies without bunching up/looking too tight. I want to try one of the Carhartt’s WIP hoodies, some of them are pretty clean. Towards the end of the video, you brought up people asking about tucking in a hoodie…I didn’t even know that was a thing.

I knew that I was wearing hoodies the wrong way. You have to put the hood and tag to the front so that when your wife or girlfriend starts talking you can pull it up over your face.

I currently live in the PNW where even in the summer after the sun goes down it can be cool, a hoodie works! A hoodie at work? No! Oh, all my hoodies have the graphics package OLE MISS! I am a proud alumnus. I do not understand paying for the honor of advertising for someone else, so I will never be seen wearing a hoodie with a big Nike or Adidas logo. As for too old to wear a hoodie, B.S. "High-end Hoodie" = NO! I have four kids in football, track, cross-country, band, and everything between - so I have a squillion hoodies. I have a hoodie for everything except "high end". It's a huge NO for me. You can make a hoodie with cashmere and gold threads and it'll never be a "dress hoodie". The whole notion sounds absurd.
