Duane Vermeulen - The Ultimate Tribute

Duane Vermeulen finally hung up his rugby boots. He will be remembered as one of the greatest Springboks of the modern era and one of the greatest number 8's to ever play the game.
His tough, uncompromising style of play made him indispensable for the Springboks. He was man of the match in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final and he backed that up with a second Rugby World Cup win in 2023.
He was known for his strong carries, his brutal defense and his absolute calmness under pressure. In big matches, you wanted Duane on you side.
As a South African, I can only say thank you Duane. Thank you for your service and thank you for all the awesome memories.

A video posted, it's going to be a good day. Will Diesel Duane go down as the best Bok 8 since re admission? What a legend. Most of us moan about aches or pains at his age, and he smashes forwards for fun.

He's definitely the best 8 we've had in my lifetime. Gary Teichmann was awesome as well but no one had the ability to boss a game like he does.

Have certainly missed such high quality posts from Real Rugby. I knew DV was excellent in the tight stuff, but wow he had a sharp turn of pace to complete the No. 8 package. Tremendous player!!!

All around a great rugby player with a long career with different teams Offense and defence and the rest you know the phisicality just another level. That pass to Fourie DuPreez go down as one of the classics the best of the scrum...yes his up there he got 🏆🏆
