@@JrodsGarage gotcha and I’ve heard it gets a little risky if you go to 3.3 or 3.4 so that’s why I was asking. Also just subscribed to your channel excited to watch y’all build this thing.

Although a complex process with lots to think about, it's crazy how simple and straightforward jz engines are for what they're capable of compared to modern engines.

I know it's not a feasible practice at all, but how awesome would it be to have an option to sit in with your engine builder (especially Jay) and have them walk you through your engine build. It would certainly make people appreciate more the costs that they spend on parts and labor. Jay is an absolute treasure.

That would let be feasible simply because of time/money lost.. I guess you could but it's be really expensive I bet

@37:57 _"but since the bolt is steel and the tensioner is steel, the similar metals will marry over time, they're frozen."_ You mean they exhibit cold welding / galling? Makes sense. Unlubricated direct metal-to-metal sliding contact will do that, some alloy combinations more than others.

Could you let me know what main studs you use with the billet main caps in that engine please? I'm gathering parts/building my 2j gte vvti for a swop into my jzx100 Chaser. I've got 625+ head studs, the BC rods come with 625's, and I've got billet main caps to go in but don't want to have it line bored until I've got the correct studs for the caps I'm using. Watching your videos u obviously are up there with the best of the best, so my question is what studs did you use in that engine for the billet main caps? If you could let me know asap that would be awesome. Thanks

I need some help. I have the choice of procuring a 2jz - GTE or GE model engine both with 40,000 miles I want to get about 600 to 800 hp I would be happy with 650. I also am able to get Toyota parts at cost at the dealership Both of these engines are coming from Japan but I only get to choose one which one should I choose and why the engine is a 1998 or 1997 how beneficial is my hook up going to be as far as parts go, anyone have any experience in ordering parts for a Japanese engine through an American dealer, any expertise in this matter would be greatly appreciated
