@@UmekRealestate Did you block or turned off the comments section? I wanted to just say, you know what you are doing as a qualified building engineer who knows building construction especially getting the squaring of the block corners first. I liked the idea of using damp proof membrane. Most times, clients pay cheap to people who don't know the job very well leading to buildings collapsing or the shape of the house is just ugly and poor in quality. Merry Christmas.

Great job guys, Please how much will it cost to bring 4 Bed room duplex from foundation to DPC level both materials and labor. And also what's the cost of a borehole. Thanks for inspiring and educating us on what it takes to start building a house Nigeria.

Hi, thanks for your comments, Let me start from the last question… the cost of borehole varies from place to place due to the depth the drilling will have to get to before good well of water is gotten… could range from 150k to almost 2Million in some locations … For how much a 4bedroom duplex could cost from foundation to dpc, day also depends on location, size of building, type of foundation and many other factors but could range from 3million to 10million. To get something close to accurate, a measured drawing is needed for the building and a site analysis report for both the borehole and the building to determine the depth of borehole and type of foundation… I hope this helps

Depends on the size of the space you want after the building … for instance, one plot of land can do it but the space around the building can not be compared to when you have two plots of land… your choice…

Thanks for this video. Please how many pillars does this house have? I am building a 4 bedroom duplex and the house has just 17 pillars but I have seen other 4 bedroom duplexes with number of pillars ranging from 22 to even 32 pillars and i have been wondering why my architect included only 17 pillars for my building. Please help clarify. Thanks

This building has 28 columns… duplexes come with structural drawings, so confirm if your architect is following the recommendations of the structural engineer, if so, then you may not have anything to worry about …

Is the base sand sprayed with special insecticide after compaction? Also, is polyethylene plastic spread before the slab is cast?

How much do you charge as the engineer to get a 5 bedrooms deplex and 2 bedrooms story bedrooms at the back of the deplex?

The professional charge is normally 10%… though this could be negotiated based on the volume of work and cost involved…

Nigerians stop choking your compound up. Enjoy some green space and backyard instead of BQ or another building at the back. Jeez! Can we live like humans for once in our environments instead of choking up compounds with concrete.
