I have a friend who asked me to help her mow her 1.5 acres because she doesnt have a mower. I asked when she mowed it last and she said its been a while. When I got there I realized it was far worse then I imagined and riding through it on a Murray 40 inch cut mower the first cut had grass rubbing my elbows on both sides. I can appreciate why so many companies wont mow far overgrown lawns but I do admit I love doing them because I guess I am a transformation junkie. I love watching a lawn go from Oh my lord to WOW!!!!! You do amazing work and I find it inspiring to see how you transform lawns back into an attractive landscapes.

Great vid you really motivate me to take on lawns that other companies won't do because they can't stripe or to overgrown and not every lawn stripes but every lawn makes money and you motivated me to experiment with my mower and try different blades and messing with the baffles to get it perfect and thanks to you I got my mower to stripe well mulch well and have good airflow. And I think you said you live in Florida so I pray for you about hurricane Irma I don't think I'll be able to mow for awhile lol but thanks

Chris Eberle I’ve recently learned what striping is and I found its a northern thing. I’ve never seen or heard about it until recently in a tractor forum that I’m in. Not sure why we don’t do it down here but I imagine it’s because of the type of grass maybe?

I always make a pass, back up and make another pass the same direction so I don’t cut the thatch and the overgrown at the same time. Then head to the back while it’s all drying out so it’s not so heavy when you rake it up.

Yes, it's true. It happened once last year as well. And the year before that I actually stopped it on a bedspread. A thick comforter sucked in and wrapped around all 3 spindles and stopped it. I really should have returned it to Scag at that point. Who wants a mower that can't even mulch a bedspread? Ya know?
@CopperCreekCuts
@CopperCreekCuts 7 жыл бұрын
Jeez, and people say SCAG is supposed to be the best of the best? Sounds like they are on their way out. Everyone knows the second highest revenue generation after lawn care is 'bedding, linens, and towel disposal'. If the SCAG can't handle that, it may be time to put it to pasture.
@Something2LookAt
@Something2LookAt 7 жыл бұрын
Yea I know right? If you hear that it can't mulch beach towels you might think it can't do phone books and toasters. And that's a necessity out here. I mulched at least 11 toasters today with no problem. That Velocity deck was just made for mulching toasters.

He makes it mostly go away by going over and over the grass as he's showing. By doing so he's mulching the freshly cut grass leaving little bits allowing the mulched grass to fall between the grass and not just staying in top.

Hi! Great video as usual. I was just curious, the golf course behind this yard, looks to me, to be a different kind of a mowing challenge. It appears there are a lot of little hills, flat areas and lots of trees there. Is the same kind of mower used there as your own jobs? How often is a golf course mowed? How do you keep from "scalping" the little hills and cut the grass so uniformly on a golf course?
@Something2LookAt
@Something2LookAt 7 жыл бұрын
I really should film their machines. They use a regular zero turn on the edges & tight areas, reel mowers for the greens, but a very big 3 unit cutting deck pulled by a tractor for the fairways. This big deck follows the contours of the hills. It's pretty neat. I'll try to film all that stuff.

The orange one had dull blades that day and has no chute blocker. Also throws the grass a lot farther. It would have been hard to keep all the grass in this yard without flying out into the neighbors yards. Plus I just wanted to see what the Great Dane could actually do with something like this. :)

Oh, well it holds 15 gallons so it goes a real long time. Hmmm, I dunno really. All week basically.

Something 2LookAt ahh OK yeah 15 gallons is quite crazy lol my Stanger with a briggs 810 only holds 5.3 gallons I'm a bit concerned about fuel economy but I haven't used it enough yet to really test it

Ok so I'm not a landscaper , not a lawn guy. But can anyone explain to me , why lawn care professionals , do not use bagger's anymore?
@Something2LookAt
@Something2LookAt 5 жыл бұрын
It is because the clippings can compost back into the soil to provide fertilizer for the grass. It works fastest in Florida.

@@Something2LookAt don't agree. It looks horrible to see all the grass on top of the lawn whenever any lawn Care perfessinal utilities that method. I would be a disappointed client to see that. After paying anyone to cut my lawn. My opinion. Enjoy your day

Of course this one looks bad afterward because of how high it was. The regular height lawns actually look like they were bagged. Many times my customers thought I was bagging. But even these overgrown ones look great by the 2nd cut. Thatch does not build up here in Florida.

You don't cut at the highest and then lowering the height?

I sure hp-e he was paying you well for that lawn. Amazes me when land lords don't have any system in place for keeping up with their properties. Guess it's good for business.

Seems like that yard is ALWAYS thick and long. Is it a rental property or is the owner not take care of things? Looks like a job a tractor & flail mower is needed for that job instead of your Cheetah or Great Dane mowers.

Where's the best place to buy a full intact mower price limit probably $500-$1000
@Something2LookAt
@Something2LookAt 6 жыл бұрын
I would say Craigslist. For a budget like that, I'm sure you're looking for something used. Just bring your mechanic with you to check it out.

This is Florida. Composting happens very very fast here. It was all gone by the next mow.

One question why do you always run the cheetah at like half throttle why not all the way especially for a yard like this?!
