I have a friend who asked me to help her mow her 1.5 acres because she doesnt have a mower. I asked when she mowed it last and she said its been a while. When I got there I realized it was far worse then I imagined and riding through it on a Murray 40 inch cut mower the first cut had grass rubbing my elbows on both sides. I can appreciate why so many companies wont mow far overgrown lawns but I do admit I love doing them because I guess I am a transformation junkie. I love watching a lawn go from Oh my lord to WOW!!!!! You do amazing work and I find it inspiring to see how you transform lawns back into an attractive landscapes.

Great vid you really motivate me to take on lawns that other companies won't do because they can't stripe or to overgrown and not every lawn stripes but every lawn makes money and you motivated me to experiment with my mower and try different blades and messing with the baffles to get it perfect and thanks to you I got my mower to stripe well mulch well and have good airflow. And I think you said you live in Florida so I pray for you about hurricane Irma I don't think I'll be able to mow for awhile lol but thanks

@Something2LookAt7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's true. It happened once last year as well. And the year before that I actually stopped it on a bedspread. A thick comforter sucked in and wrapped around all 3 spindles and stopped it. I really should have returned it to Scag at that point. Who wants a mower that can't even mulch a bedspread? Ya know?
@CopperCreekCuts7 жыл бұрын
Jeez, and people say SCAG is supposed to be the best of the best? Sounds like they are on their way out. Everyone knows the second highest revenue generation after lawn care is 'bedding, linens, and towel disposal'. If the SCAG can't handle that, it may be time to put it to pasture.
@Something2LookAt7 жыл бұрын
Yea I know right? If you hear that it can't mulch beach towels you might think it can't do phone books and toasters. And that's a necessity out here. I mulched at least 11 toasters today with no problem. That Velocity deck was just made for mulching toasters.

@darklobo796 жыл бұрын

Hi! Great video as usual. I was just curious, the golf course behind this yard, looks to me, to be a different kind of a mowing challenge. It appears there are a lot of little hills, flat areas and lots of trees there. Is the same kind of mower used there as your own jobs? How often is a golf course mowed? How do you keep from "scalping" the little hills and cut the grass so uniformly on a golf course?
@Something2LookAt7 жыл бұрын
I really should film their machines. They use a regular zero turn on the edges & tight areas, reel mowers for the greens, but a very big 3 unit cutting deck pulled by a tractor for the fairways. This big deck follows the contours of the hills. It's pretty neat. I'll try to film all that stuff.

Another trick that helps cut high grass is to make your first cut at the highest setting on your mower and lower your deck on each consecutive pass. You don’t have so much heavy grass to try to mulch.

The orange one had dull blades that day and has no chute blocker. Also throws the grass a lot farther. It would have been hard to keep all the grass in this yard without flying out into the neighbors yards. Plus I just wanted to see what the Great Dane could actually do with something like this. :)
